Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Which retro stages do you want in the game now that we have Halberd and Jungle Japes(why??? :/) confirmed? I was quite let down with the ones we got in Brawl, so I really hope we get some better picks this time around, hopefully from SSB as well.

Here are the ones I want

SSB:
Hyrule Castle
300px-HyruleCastle.png

Always loved playing this in the original. The house made for some chaotic moments, and the middle platforms added some great air battles to the stage.

Mushroom Kingdom
250px-MushroomKingdomSSB.jpg

I don't know particularly why, but I've just always liked this stage a lot.

Saffron City
250px-SaffronCitySSB.png

Awesome awesome stage. Full of possibilities to spike everywhere!

SSBM:
Great Bay
250px-Great_bay.jpg

The lower platforms created some crazy battles.

Peach's Castle
250px-Peachycastle.PNG

Love this stage. Really interesting with a middle wall.

Mushroom Kingdom II
MushroomKingdomII.jpg

Simple stage, but cool theme and design.

SSBB:
Delfino Plaza
250px-Delfino_Plaza.jpg

Not fond on flying stages but every stop in Delfino Plaza is just fine.

Pirate Ship
256px-Pirateship.jpg

The very best chaos stage in brawl.

Other than these I also hope we get a new stage with the Great Fox.

I want Wario Ware back along with a Wario Ware 2 with different micro games during the fight, just get rid of invincibility as a random prize or make the prizes the same for everyone. Being the only guy to NOT get invincibility was a horrible experience.

Make the prizes like

1- Grow bigger ala super mushroom
2- Get 30~50% of your HP healed

Or have a punishment for those who don't get it like

1- Put into broken shield status
2- Knocked into the air like they were hit with the pow block

I honestly want all of these, well I'd be fine with Pirate Ship not making it because that stage wasn't all that great. I really want a new stage for WWHD, maybe another flying stage that stops at different islands, or maybe a stage based on one island like Outset or Dragon Roost.

Daily reminder. Tweet sakurai, NOA, NOE, NCL, and post on miiverse, letting nintendo know you want battlefield (or other similar improvements) for the 'FOR GLORY' mode before it's too late!

I'm using #BattlefieldForGlory, but you can use whatever you want. Just let it be known that final destination only isn't perfect.

Yeah, if they got rid of the invincibilty that stage would be perfect. I wonder what they'll do for Wario's stages in this edition?

Delfino Plaza would look excellent in HD, even without updating the assets. The art direction in that stage will always look good. Great stage, and being so sunny it's a nice counterpart to the other Mario stage, Mario Galaxy.

I love the stages concept but I rarely played it because of the reward system, last time I did play it I was "rewarded" with being turned big while my opponent got to be invincible, I'd have been better off with nothing.
I'd just tweak it for a small 15% health heal for microgame completion, enough to make things worthwhile without being too much.

The "Don't Move" Microgame was always a funny one with other players, I also had a CPU Marth just stand there taking Staryu's swift to the face in order to keep up his task of not moving, surprisingly despite being pushed all the way across the screen it did count as him staying still.

Sorry, I'm fine with Tryhard mode as it is. "With friends" is where it's at anyways. With a potential 1000 friends on WiiU IIRC that's more than enough possible space for people who might want to play 4 Stock, No items.

I guess this wasn't sunny enough for you?

Yeah, I'm hoping for a SM3DW stage.

Wii Fit Trainer(s)
I wouldn't use Male Wii Fit Trainer. It just isn't the same lol.

Praise the Sun

I don't think many people thought Wii Fit Trainer would have a projectile attack, let alone 2! The other projectile attack is a Wii Fit soccer ball. And this one is called Sun Salutation and is her (his) Neutral Special.

You can use it immediately for a quick shot or you can charge it and store it for later use like other projectile attacks.

Deep Breathing

Her Down Special move. It powers up her (his) attacks. How it works is unclear. Is it only for one attack? Or because Sun Salutation was a projectile, the power up disappears? Either way, it will be useful going by Lucas in Project M.

One thing we do know is that timing is necessary for making Deep Breathing succeed.
ibaI2rup44TeR.gif

GIF is at 1/3 speed.

The move also stops all momentum in the air.

That precise hitbox lol.

I liked these two moments of Wii Fit Trainer kicking ass:
http://a.pomf.se/ypjtho.webm
http://a.pomf.se/gtzwhs.webm

And someone will mention it and this has been talked about before, but posting it again. They have the best crouch walk animation out of everybody lol.

The amount of people on that site that refuse to take Sal's leaks into consideration because of some Babby's First Logistics blow my mind. I remember being in the Anna character thread reading an argument against it that hinged on the idea that WFT was an easy character to guess and the response to me (arguing the implausibility of getting both her AND a combination of Megaman, Mac & Villager correct) was "I'm sure you've read every roster prediction out there..."

:lol

Oh BABY

I am so friggin hyped for SSB4 Pit.

Pit was one of my two secondaries at the beginning of Brawl. (Lucas was the other) When Project M happened and they turned him into Swordpuff with the best projectile in the games thus far, he got bumped up to co-main with my boy Marf. Smash 4 Pit though? Dudes looking like he outright wants the #1 spot.

Love the new side tilt, up tilt and neutral air. Three Sacred Treasures are DEFINITELY bringing the hype too.

Wow, looking back at my list, it was definitely influenced by recency bias.

I actually hate looking back at my roster guess list for Heath's thing now because it just looks so wrong.

Rosalina > Daisy and I say this as someone who still kinda/sorta likes the idea of the tomboy representing the Sports, Party and Kart lineage while giving us some Mario Land love.

Dixie is more a character I support than feel any real want for. Same with Ridley.

Palutena seems locked in but you can't call these things until the final moment. Medusa was there because fuck yea can Kid Icarus get 3, she deserved it after getting shafted for dialogue in Uprising and she's one of the classic 3, but the actual probability of the series getting three folks is looking kinda small.

Everyone knows how I feel about Chrom & Lucina now after getting acquainted with Awakening somewhat. Tharja is a lol.

Pokemon Rival would have been cool, but with Trainer looking to be a no show... Also, Greninja's the best Pokemon newcomer ever. Not sure what's good with Mewtwo anymore (no I don't think he's in danger because another character or anything, moreso that I'm wondering if they want to push for newer faces or not).

Captain Syrup's cool as shit and would have been a cool female villain addition behind Medusa while also allowing for some Wario Land representation within the games. Almost all of Wario's interpretation in Brawl before swung far too wildly towards Wario Ware which felt kinda messed up. (Disclaimer: I'd also push for a WarioWare character to have both aspects of Wario represented in game)

Black Shadow is a meh choice in the face of others recently brought to light (Norio Wakamoto's VA being the biggest redeeming feature to himself). Isaac is a total unknown quantity. Isa + Katchi would have been hype as shit but the universe is full of injustices like people still being allowed to play games that haven't played Star Successor.
:p

Takamaru is my one true hope from the new retros since Mike is doomed until something happens to his visibility.

And I got Megaman, Little Mac and seemingly Palutena and Shulk right. That's kinda cool considering I thought I wasn't going to get a bunch of these guys.

rEVVfnI.jpg

I predict some Zeldio Joestar and Rosa Lumio Zeppeli tonight.

Nah, it's Zeldio and Rosa Rosestar and Luma Platinum. Rosalina actually has a platinum colored Luma, it's so canon it hurts.

My favorite was when I was Ike on that stage and don't move showed up, was always hilarious to watch everyone start moving when an Ike charged smash is aimed at them

On the other hand, I feel like this thread puts way too much faith in this guy's "leaks" These three points in that smashboards thread are definitely important points to make:

1.He never stated he had a source until after the characters were revealed. It was a prediction up until that point.
2. He stated the characters were to be shown at E3, but the characters were not shown at Two c haracters have yet to be seen.
3. He stated a Pokemon from X and Y would be included instead of saying a specific character (Here, Greninja)

Not to mention that everything except for Wii Fit trainer is a very safe guess. Granted nobody saw WFT coming, but it's not like his other guesses were crazy by any means.

Being hypocritical here, but I just wish people would stop talking about the "leak."

That crouch walk alone makes me want to try her out at least once

I was already sold last E3 when one of her (assumed) taunts was literally flexing on you after a stock, but this just made it so she's my default screwing around character. In Brawl that was Dedede because dude just looks chill as fuck in any situation and does the absolute funniest things for his moves/animations.

Looking forward to the Chorus Men being confirmed and the same crazy people saying, "Pffft, it's not insider knowledge, anyone could've guessed that, just like with Wii Fit Trainer!"

Speaking of the Chorus Men, I'm not familiar with the Rhythm Heaven game so I can't say, but how do you think they'll play? Perhaps they'll have moves referencing other RH games, alongside their moves referencing their own game, and perhaps their unique gimmick will be a timing element not unlike Marth's side special, perhaps with an onscreen metronome or other visual appearing to measure your inputs? So you execute one special, and you can make it exponentially stronger by timing it right (I.E. tap, tap, TAP, tap, tap, TAP).

BGBW

Maturity, bitches.
I'll give more credit to the first leak because it is know that things can be pulled last minute at E3. However the second leak seemed to come out of nowhere. Where did the info come from, why did he get the info?

Until then, i'd like it to be kinda fair. The more competitive smash is, the longer legs it will have!

If Chorus Men are confirmed, THAT'S when we should start really taking that leak seriously. 2 very unexpected characters on a leak being confirmed is definitely worth paying attention to.

The thing is, some other unexpected character could have been confirmed last E3, and all the fake leaks that had THAT character would be taken seriously and nobody would be looking at the Sal leak. Every fake-leak has that one character from left-field so that if they happen to be revealed, people will be more likely to believe the leak.

How does the first point matter? We know they're not the same person (the leaker and Sal), and the leaker correctly picked those three characters. It's obviously not just a guess. Sal was just skeptical at first like the rest of us, and didn't want to post a "leak" with nothing to back it up.

I was just quoting the 3 points from the smash thread.

I think the 2nd and 3rd points are very strong, though. Especially the 2nd. We should've all considered it a fake when the leak turned out to be wrong.

I think by the time chorus men are confirmed, the game will be out (or people will have their hands on early copies). They seem like the 'game and watch' or 'rob' of the game, to the point where they'll just be there to find once the game is already out.

Those points are all incredibly stupid. (Not saying you're stupid, to be clear, but this line of logic)

Do you know the odds of making six "guesses" -- just six, when everyone else was making 30 or more -- and half of those six appearing the next day at E3? Do you know the odds of six guesses getting Villager, Mega Man AND Wii Fit Trainer right? Villager, whom common wisdom said was ineligible, due to Sakurai's comments on Villager not working as a fighter? Mega Man, whom common wisdom said wasn't relevant enough due to Capcom's mishandling/neglect of the character, a topic very much in vogue at the time? And Wii Fit Trainer, who literally no one else suggested. Three out of SIX listed. Right before E3. A list of six, getting more right than lists of 30 to 100+.

"Pokémon from X and Y" is easy to explain. The leaker either is in a position to see characters but doesn't necessarily recognize all of them (a lot of people didn't recognize Greninja when he was revealed), or that's the case with the leaker's source. It's not rocket science. It's easy to see how this could happen.

Same with Mii, Pac-Man and Little Mac not appearing at E3. Internally, they could've been circulating those characters, perhaps even considering those characters in the run-up to E3. In the end, they showed Villager, MM and WFT. Each with their own piecemeal trailers, mind you, which makes it easy to see how they could've mixed and matched all of them and doled them out as they see fit, playing by ear what they showed at the big show.

At any rate, three out of six, right before E3. Three out of six. Right before E3. And Wii Fit Trainer. If you were making up bullshit and trying to appear clairvoyant, you wouldn't hedge your bets with only six guesses and make Wii Fit Trainer one of them.

This is a leak. Otherwise, it's the equivalent of taking a few guesses at the winning numbers of the lottery and winning the lottery several times over.

EDIT: I'm not saying there's no way this isn't a leak, but I'm just tired of people treating it as near-gospel. Like the last paragraph in your post I quoted. 3 out of 6 characters...5 of which were all very safe guesses. NOT the equivalent of winning the lottery several times over. It could very easily have been one good guess.

No, the fact six and only six "guesses" were made right before E3, and Wii Fit Trainer was one of them (along with two others, but WFT in particular) is when we should've seriously paid attention to the leak.

If Wii Fit Trainer had been "guessed" on a roster of 30-100+, then it might've seemed like something someone could've conceivably made up. But Wii Fit Trainer being one of only six is too accurate to be dismissed as a guess.

I'm not taking sides or anything but I remember reading somewhere that once the leak happened, they decided to hold back on revealing all of them. That's why we got only 3.

"Oh, I was wrong! OBVIOUSLY they changed their mind once I spoiled their plans!"

It's easy for both sides of this argument to state their case, and such is the nature of these nefarious "leaks." It could be true, it could be not, we just don't know.

What we shouldn't do is act like leaks are confirmed until they're unconfirmed. That's just ridiculous.

It's so obviously a leak it's painful. I believe they -were- going to be shown at E3, or the leaker saw materials for them but assumed all six were being prepped for E3. It's easy to see how that part could not pan out. It's NOT easy to see how someone could make six "guesses" and just get lucky with Wii Fit Trainer, let alone WFT, MM -and- Villager. That's what makes the lottery analogy apt -- someone made six guesses, which could've been any combination of hundreds of characters out there, and got more right than people guessing 30-100+ characters, and also were the only post to include Wii Fit Trainer. The odds of that being a guess are insanely low. There are so many reasons to see it's a leak and so few to suggest the contrary.

There are tons of reasons why it could both be legit and be a guess. For all we know, he heard about the stuff months before e3, or the information was months old (a contractor, someone who knew someone but hasn't talked to them in months, someone who was working on smash but left months before e3), we don't know. Plans change, all the time.

Not saying the 'leak' is real, but there are always reasons why that information could have changed, and that alone doesn't disqualify the leak. What will disqualify the leak is that the game comes out and not all of those characters are in the game. Or even in the dumped game data for that matter.

But seriously why was the second list leaked? E3 for the first one is obvious and lots of info is shared around. Second is too random to be as trustworthy. And like I and others explained, second leaks can often turn out to be purposeful lie either from the leaker or the source.

Don't we all just want smash to be the best game it can be? :)

The better it is, the more people buy a wii u/3ds, the larger the nintendo install base, the more good games we get. It's that simple!

The better this smash is, the more hype there is for the next smash, which means the more people will get the next nintendo system with smash, which means we get more install base, which means we get more games! Smash isn't 100% responsible, obviously, but it helps!

Basically, the way I look at the leak is I'm very much inclined to believe it's real. Obviously we don't know for sure. But I feel it's safer to look forward to the characters in the leak than any other characters, for reasons I've described.

Which is why I'm curious what you Rhythm Heaven fans think can be done with Chorus Men. Like I said, attacks that incorporate timing like Marth's side special but easier to follow seem like they could make for an interesting move-set. I also wonder if we'll move all three of the kids around at once, Ice Climbers-style, and if they'll be presented in 2D like Mr. G&W or with rounded 3D models.

Guys don't ask but I came by some top secret information.

My sources could only tell me that the next Smash newcomers to be revealed are:

From a video game.
Are combat capable.
Have names.

If these leaks are true you should take me more seriously from now on.
