The original Japanese doesn't phrase it quite that way, just saying that you get the ultra gauge bonus if you get hit by an opponent's attack while you're still holding buttons, presumably just as part of the pre-release part of the move.

Alright. That still is a little weird to me, but I guess you are right:p I mean, why would armor on ex red focus be important to remove?

Combofiend haven't used twitter in over 2 weeks. Communicating with fans just isn't fun when it's your job.

To be fair, that's not the only aspect of his job; he works extensively behind-the-scenes on the tour.

I know this from the sponsorship agreement for Capcom Cup last year, he was the primary point person on it (and I assume with other sponsors).

Add to that the changes for ultra, etc. and it's fair to say there's a tremendous amount of responsibilities that he has to fulfill other than just communicating with the fanbase.

I was playing Shootmania, and one of the cool things is that there are individual rankings for country and your state. That would be kind of cool feature to have for a fighting game. It might bring back some of the local feel people keep talking about.

I can't help but wonder if an open standard was developed that tracked fighting game results, if the developers would buy into it (assuming the infrastructure to receive it was there).

As usual, I think the big block here is the Japanese developers, as they have a very different approach than say, American developers.

Is it just me or is it rather difficult for international players to get points for the Capcom Cup
I know there's Evo with its 4x points, but...

Yes, it is, but that's simply a matter of the tour not having as much of an international presence as it does an American presence. And that's probably because Capcom USA is handing the aspects of the tour.

We should have just called this thread Daigo is still da bess

Don't we do this every other week? =P

Agree with this, or you can suffer as makoto for a few years and get gud.

God, that's just cruel. Her walk speed is unbearable. Of course, if you're walking with Makoto, you're probably doing something wrong.

So Namco just announced a new fighting game...PC...F2P...thoughts?

Looks like gundamn sorta

My initial reaction.

Without any information about its combat system, it looks pretty corny. Not feeling the art, and apocalyptic/mass destruction settings usually make for boring games. Can't say I gravitate towards any of those characters either.

This is a stupid thing, I know, but whenever there's a representation of NYC in film, video games, etc, if they don't nail down the details, I get extremely frustrated. That said, the font on the signage, the taxi logos, etc, were not as accurate as I would have liked them.

Yeah, it's a very strange pet peeve...

I hope somebody is able to tell Combofiend that the character order in the character select screen needs to be redone. Super started with a clear and orderly layout, but additions on the edges have become a mess, especially now that Yang getting moved breaks symmetry with Yun. It wouldn't even take much time or effort. :/

I am really excited to see how Rise of Incarnates turns out. The EXVS system creates a fighting game that has the learning curve of an FPS - the mechanics are simple and accessible, but the strategy and tactics are deep.

I'm not a fan of what I've seen of the art yet either - the demon-guy is okay, but as I posted in the Gundam thread, I think there's a certain dissonance to the art style. The "realistic" approach to the NY background (would be at home in Crysis or the like) doesn't fit with the anime-style characters very well. If the featured stage had been something like Neo-Tokyo from Akira or the Tokyo of SMTIV it would have felt very different.

Still! Very excited.

Yeah, I freaking hate the FRC mechanic, now. Wouldn't be as much of a deal if GG wasn't so niche and its level of play had not gotten so high over so many years. At this point they're a necessary, tedious grind whose only reward is often to make your character's offense less linear. Some of timings can be fucking obtuse, too (Ky's regular fireballs).

They should at least consider bringing it to PS4 I think, PC exclusive seems an odd choice.

I hope I'm wrong but the gameplay of Rise of Incarnates looks a bit slow, and I really hope it's not bad because Anarchy Reigns was an awesome game that nobody really cared about unfortunately.

I don't think there's any reason to think the EXVS team will make an Anarchy Reigns game, regardless of what the designs look like.

Especially since you can see EXVS moves in the trailer.

True I don't know much about EXVS other than some videos I've seen posted here but it does seem different and more aerial combat wise. I'm hoping this turns out well. So it's definitely PC only right now?

More on Rise of the Incarnates, confirming that it's basically EXVS - a way for Namco to bring the mechanics out of Japan.

This is a good thing!

The game mechanics are based loosely on the extremely popular in Japan two verses two action franchise, Gundam Versus. It’s a series Incarnates executive producer Ryuichiro Baba had previously worked on for 10 years. Several years of market research has convinced Bandai Namco the free-to-play, two versus two action game model can be popular outside of Japan, but rather than just bring over Gundam – which would only appeal to a small group of fans – it decided to create a whole new franchise, which is how Rise of Incarnates was born.

Oh, Happy Birthday Gutabo
you went from tipsy to drunk in roughly 3 hours? You can hold out way longer than I can

Oh, well that's a reasonable compromise. Now we just have to sit back and wait for some actual gameplay footage.

I can't believe unib is happening ;_;

I finally can give my moneyz to support French Bread

And now I can finally play with Akatsuki in a game with more colors than grey, green, brown and red! Happy days are here again!

Quick question about Capcom Pro Tour, I noticed that they updated the point to reflect PR's win but he doesn't have the qualified trophy by his name. Was NCR not actually a premier tournament despite them saying so?

aaaaaaaaa I'm so hype right now I nearly took my pants off -- and I'm currently at work. D:

UNIEL, GGXrd and P4A2 are coming out this year, and we're getting updates to BlazBlue, Arcana Heart and Chaos Code in the next two months. It's like 2007 all over again, yo animeeeeee
right down to Marvel/Mahvel starting to die off
When's Melty?
Let's not get too crazy now; that'll happen around the same time as a new Mega Man game.

I think it's just simply not updated yet. PRRog should've already qualified for Capcom Cup.

I just saw Yipes latest Vlog. Good tutorial in it but the real news is Yipes traveling to sharpen his Marvel skills. My first thought was "cool Yipes is actually going to grind in the game" but then when he said its top secret I already knew what's going on....

He's probably going to go to FGTV/Norcal to prepare FChamp for MM against Nemo. In any case if he was serious about leveling up he should be going to California any way... that's where the highest level Marvel is at right now (either Socal or Norcal.. both very strong now).

That camera looks a bit iffy, but I'll still try it out.

Yeah, the camera shouldn't be too difficult to fix.

It really does seem like EXVS: Futurism Edition, although there are a few differences in stuff like the floaty falls, respawning, and the way that it seems like players are able to fly around targets in a diagonal direction manually - which is all interesting stuff, of course. Gotta keep an eye out for it for sure.

Time to stalk Ami-Ami and give them money! I wonder what that LE is gonna be like?

When's Melty?

3 years ago with Season 3 of Carnival Phantasm.

Seriously though I was very surprised that Current Code didn't make it on PSN in that time. We all know why the next installment is being held up but for Type-Moon to do nothing with Current Code outside of that release has and continues to strike me as odd.
