Angry Joe Elder Scrolls Online Review

I think his reviews are very well balanced and he has no agenda, I'm not annoyed by his "angry persona" so for me his is good reviewer.

I don't like the whole Angry thing, or the skits, but Joe typically puts out very informative reviews backed up with actual game footage from when he was playing. I don't always agree with him, but that's just how opinions work. His review meshes well with the impressions I've read from pre-release.

that was a great review, and very informative. highlights a bunch of the things I felt about the game after playing beta too, sad they weren't improved for the final release. what a damn shame..

bethesda seriously.. just release Skyrim but 2-4 players. I don't give a shit if it's not made for 2-4, just let me have a friend with me, broken or not.

Whatever we may think of Angry Joe, this was one of the best informative review ever, much much better than the so called "Pro reviewers" around here.

This! Too bad he is just mostly a Xbox/PC guy. If he was a universal gamer (Reviewing Nintendo games and stuff) He would be honestly one of my favorite reviewers out there.

Was really hoping this game would've been like a community driven town building MMO. Set 1000's of years before any of the games, players work together to lay the foundations of all the cities and towns in the game. Guilds start towns, there are adventurers, soldiers, mayors, shop keepers, thieves, and crafters. But nope, they focused on the combat of Elder Scrolls which no one has ever really liked. Its like they have no idea why people like Elder Scrolls games.

I ignore or don't post in most threads that aren't relevant to me, but when this guy creeps into many threads I do go into, it bugs me to see or weekly threads of his videos. Does that mean every YouTube video deserves its own weekly thread? I'm not even shitting up this thread. I have sat through a few of his videos around the time the new consoles were announced, but after his constant raging and over the top behavior, I couldn't stand him.

True, but I guess I reached a breaking point.

I understand everyone has their own tastes, but like I've said it gets annoying when one or two YouTube sensations get constant threads! I know they have a fanbase here, so I can respect that at least.

Weekly threads? Post last weeks video review then. Just did a quick search and he's not done a review since MGS last month.

"True, but I guess I reached a breaking point" over what, a video reviewer getting a thread for his video reviews? Oh no! Better go in the thread to share my dislike for him, people might not know!

Also your last line just stinks of jealousy, so what if some YouTube game personalities get threads for their videos?

I read it bro.

I will watch the review when I get home. Want to see if some of the stuff I have heard still remains to be fixed. I feel this will inevitably go F2P which is not neccesarily a bad thing. Rather the game go F2P than slowly die and shut down so its fans can no longer play it. If it does go F2P I will probably check out the PVP. Have no interest in the rest of the game.

You need to quest to level 10 to get into Cyrodiil, so I fear your time in Tamriel might not be what you expect.

the difference between the advertisement for daedric invasions and the footage shown...that's a massive disappointment.

An average game is an average game.

An average game that makes you pay every month to play it is fucking garbage.

No one should spend a penny on this shit.

I think the other issue with review mmos is they are constantly changing, being upgraded, having problems fixed, taking user feedback and making improvements. So while this review could be considered applicable now. A year from now will it? Angry Joe does his thing and get's angry. That's his schtick. Granted I can never fully watch a whole video of his. I just can't. I skip around and move on.

I hyperbolized the weekly threads thing, so I apologize about that. No need to get so defensive over my opinion, I didn't overly criticize him or anyone's thoughts about the guy. Jealous? Not at all - more like me just aligning with peoples right to like whatever they want. No need to be so defensive and pick at little things I said.

If it does get fixed in a few months when it goes f2p, I'll have to extend my heartfelt thanks to the beta testers who paid $60-$80 for the game and $15 per month subscription to help get the game improved for me.

You've got your right to not like him, I've got my right to pick apart your pointless comment on disliking him that turns up in everyone of his video threads. Problem?

Why does no one call out World of Warcraft's mount system for $25 a pop?
You can buy easely in game mounts or by farming bosses.
You can ride a mount at level 20 for less than 20 gold...
While in Elder scroll online, the mount is so expensive that you will prefer to spend real money to get it.
That's what Joe tried to say.

Man imagine he just called himself 'Joe' instead of 'Angry Joe'. He would have about 10 times the fans I imagine (or at least lead to believe with these threads).

The mount is so expensive? It's 17k gold which I obtained at level 18 without crafting or selling anything to players.

It's also apples oranges. The basic mount speed is +15%, which isn't much of an increase over foot. Add onto the fact that every zone has at least 5 way shrines spread out that are FREE to travel between, I don't get your point.

Well, I knew this game seemed boring from watching the GB quicklook, but it really looks terrible in almost every way. Definitely never playing this, probably not even when it inevitably goes F2P.

Sounds like Joe's first MMO. There are a lot of things that are just standard MMO jank.

To be fair to Joe, ESO looks pretty damn bland.

Leif wrote a great review over at IGN. He doesn't get his own thread, though. He's definitely not "real" and "raw" enough as pointed out.

Well anyone can post a thread on what they want. Post a thread for his review if you're that bothered.

Sub Zero

his body's cold as ice, but he's got a heart of gold
He was pretty excited with the beta and almost tempted me to pick up the game since I trust his opinion a lot. Looks like it's poop after all, like everybody initially thought

He's reviewed multiple MMOs and from what I'm told he even gave Guild Wars 2 a 10.

Just weird to hear complaints about spawn camping quest bosses and seeing corpses of a boss you have to fight.

The grouping mechanics definitely sound sub-par, though =/

You do understand that any member can create a thread right?

It's not like there is some hidden tribunal every few weeks where it is decided on what people are allowed to post.

If you feel strongly about his review, go post a thread about the review.

Most of the reason why I rarely watch his stuff. His more informative stuff is great, but his attempts at comedy, satire, whatever fall awkwardly flat and cringey.

Yet he wouldn't have nearly the # of subscribers if he did things differently, no. Obviously many, including myself disagree with you. Better than most of the dry reviewers I've watched on video over the past 15 years.

It's not poop, and Joe says it's not poop. I've played it for over 60 hours, and enjoyed it, but the issues are too numerous to make me stick with it.

Giving GW2 a 10 makes his credibility on mmo reviews even less. Game in no way is a 10.

I don't think GW2 is a 10 and that's fine.

But from a value proposition (which is what he bases a lot of his review on) I think it's a 10.

Very very much unlike TESO.

The 42k horse is 10% faster than the cheapest horse. Means a load of bullshit unless you're PVPing and when considering the zerg fest nature of PVP it means even less.

I have been playing this game till almost level cap and almost never use my horse.

I watched Angry Joe stream this game with his wife. He didn't play it as far I could to tell. He certainly didn't get far in the game.

FFXIV had a shit load of fucking problems at launch. No it was not buggy but here:

Absolutely trashed servers.
People were locked out of the game for days.
People couldn't enter instances.
There were server queue times that lasted hours.
A ton of payment issues. Mog Station did not work well.
There was a duping/bank stealing bug.
The game lagged immensely for many players, especially those on PS3.
FATEs were plagued with load/memory issues due to how many people did them.
FATEs were abused for XP purposes.
FFXIV's only end game was Binding Coil and 1 dungeon. (There was no reason to run any dungeon other than AK).
Gold seller spam. Many towns had their shouts overrun with gold spam, you couldn't even USE shout/say.
Economy abused by early adopters. People found ways to zip to level cap in crafting and completely destroyed relic prices. They were even rumored to sell gil to RMT.
A boss fight that a grand majority of the player could not pass through the normal queue system. Titan HM.

And I love that game. I really do. I even got to T5 of Coil before it was nerfed to any degree. I saw all of that game at launch and still recommend it. It's a great fucking game.

You know what else is a good game? ESO. Come to the official thread and read about it from people who actually play the game. Some like it, some don't. BUt it's a much more honest review than that shitty AJ piece.

That's not even the point. Reviews are typically
Placed into, you know, OTs and review threads. I don't see why it is even needed to start blasting the front page with countless reviews when you can concentrate that into one thread for a discussion about several reviews. Not a circle jerk of confirmation biases on one self-centered view point. That isn't how you facilitate open discussion.

I always like Joe's reviews, because he always looks out for the consumer aspect. Always appreciate that.

The part that worries me the most, is that its clear ESO is trying to implement these features, since this is also releasing on console, I'm sure a lot of these paywalls are heading there too.

Hopefully gamers take a stand at the nickel and diming of MMO's, especially since it looks like consoles are going to play a part in some coming up. F2P, I understand paying for some things, but for a game that demands $60 up front, to have to pay for anything after that is absurd.

More honest? So you think he's lying?

Like you said, some like it, some don't. Don't know why you're so upset with his review's "honesty", when he is saying what he thinks.

Agreed my friend. They went balls deep-full retail purchase, monthly fee, microtrans, paywall-the whole 9. It better be one badass game. You kick consumers in the shins like that, then deliver a mediocre game? The ensuing fallout will be well deserved...

Poor choice of words, but I stand by what I said.

Even those that didn't like the game said the game was worth the purchase for the amount of story/lore/pvp content. Of course a few people loathe it, but it's a given. You were in that thread as much as I was.
