Looks like all digital PSP / PSone games work on Vita now [Not Anymore]

so this was all just a mistake? that suuuucks. I'm glad I got my crash and spyro games loaded onto my vita before this went down.

sony really owes us an explanation for this

So this is due to licensing? Well that's.... dumb. What's the difference between a PS3 playing a PS1 disc and a Vita playing a PSP download?

Forget the ability to re-download onto Vita itself. I have many of those games on my PS3 and PC in Media Go. I feel it should be kosher for me to drag those onto my Vita via USB. Sony doesn't have to facilitate the transfer... just don't prevent me from doing it.

So can you still download the games on a different device and transfer the over that way or did they change that as well?

I hate dog-piling, but man... the North American SEN/PSN store team needs to sort their stuff out. Bad.

This is a hot mess if these games aren't supposed to be opened up any time soon. If the situation is how it looks and it was a simple "Oops, we enabled everything for PSP on Vita," then a lot of publishers are going to be angry. The fact that it took them a few days to fix the problem, too, adds insult to injury, and some people feel pretty robbed as is with the 99 cent sale and then the 180 on the enabled titles (which is subject to debate, but it's still not the best example of customer relations).

This is kind of my perspective on the matter.

  • There was no announcement about these titles coming. Zero advertising.
  • The games weren't viewable from the Vita's SEN store directly.
  • The games weren't able to be copied from a PS3 over to a Vita.
  • The PS Blog post for the weekly store update didn't aknowledge their existence.
  • Direct tweets to people at Sony resulted in radio silence, aside from Yosp who seemed genuinely surprised.
  • The only way to get them copied over was via a workaround we uncovered and exploited on GAF.

yep
and most of the people were posting things along the lines of "oh man, quick download all the games you can before sony patches this!"
so, give me a fucking break. you guys KNEW this was too good to be true, but you gambled with your money any way. you knew this was going to happen

No, re-read my post.

"Some tiny measure" of success. Give us something to cheer about, some excuse to give them money. Give us something to celebrate so we can say "yes, the Vita wasn't a huge success, but we did all we could and achieved some targets towards the end".
If you are referring to the people who said they would buy a Vita for Crash in this thread, sales wise that's not even a drop in a bucket for Sony.

This is fucking bullshit. I sold my old Vita 2-3 weeks ago so I could get a Vita 2000 which doesn't come till May 6, so I missed out. I was even contemplating a 64GB. But now Sony can go fuck themselves. Canceling my pre order (which I had fully paid off btw) and not buying another Vita for long time. Fuck you Sony.

Because one person= everyone and being a Vita owner must automatically mean I visited this topic and must have known it was a glitch... Are you being serious right now?

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.
Although I'm sad I don't have MGS PO on my Vita anymore where the second stick makes one of my favorite mgs about 50x better, it's kinda funny looking back at it. Especially when Shu tweeted the control configs he uses for Spyro on Vita and everybody was like, "OMG this is so legit, definitely not a glitch."

Better hope there just saving it for E3 guys or get on the TN cfw bandwagon.

**Pulls out his old PSP to play MGS PO with no second stick**

The thing that disappoints me most about this reversal is that, in some cases, PSone classics actually performed better on Vita than they did on PS3.

Spyro 3, for instance, was the victim of all sorts of slowdown and music stuttering on PS3 (nothing game breaking, but definitely noticeable to anyone who played it on the original PS1 console). On Vita, however, performance was perfect as far as I could tell! It was a pleasant surprise.

Game DD contracts need to be done better.

I get a new iPhone and I can still play games I bough with my original iPhone. It's weird that stuff needs to be redone with new platforms.

I can understand the anger. I was contemplating a 64gb but now I am not so sure.

So because an exploit/glitch that was never acknowledged by the company was fixed, you are going to throw out your entire library of purchased digital games (which I assume you have because your willing to buy a 64 gig card?). Seems rational!

I am so pissed right now. This is such crap. I bought Valkyria Chronicles 2, but didn't have room to download it yet and now it's stuck on my download list and unavailable. Shove it Sony. I absolutely thought this was legit and so did most Vita owners. If this makes you pissed enough to cancel your Vita order, you are absolutely entitled to it. Complete incompetence at every level on Sony's part.

At least I managed to snag Jeanne D'arc and Sega Classics Collection...

I bought them on the SEN store like I buy every other game for my ps4, ps3 and Vita. I don't usually download everything right away either which is why I prefer the SEN store since my 32gb card is usually filled. Not everyone thinks about workarounds all the time.

Are you 100% positive? I actually went ot my PS3 and downloaded the Crash 1 bubble there and then tried to copy it over to my Vita and couldn't get it over via Content Manager, plugged in or wireless. I had to go through my download list.

If this works, people who had the bubbles on their PS3s should still be able to copy the games to their Vita, but that wasn't working for me.

Was that not working even during the glitch? Didn't know that. I posted a little bit earlier hoping someone could check out the bolded part.

That's a pretty huge overreaction. I can get people being upset, but it's not like they changed their minds on the matter. Your decision to buy a Vita 2000 wasn't aided by this glitch, so I don't see why go to the extreme to cancel your pre-order.

Now, if you had pre-ordered a Vita or sold your old one during the whole thing, I'd understand cancelling.

I tried it and, no, it didn't work for me. Some people are claiming it did but are backing off on it now, so maybe it was only rumored.

Has anyone produced a screen shot from downloading these games via the SEN PC store yet? One where these games were advertised as Vita compatible? That's sort of the last grasp for a refund argument.

Damn! Someone should start a hashtag campaign to bring this shit to light! Like how we did with the #NoDRM campaign for XBone, we need to show Sony that we're serious.

I refuse to believe that there were people who were planning on buying a Vita, but now aren't, because they can't play Crash Bandicoot games from the 90s on it.

Actually, I find that really easy to believe. Especially for those that had the game's purchased for years from their PS3 and would love to be able to transfer it to the Vita to play it on the go. Never underestimate the power of nostalgia.

Well, this sucks. I had downloaded Crash 1&2 and Spyro 1&2 but held off on the third one of each series due to lack of space on my tiny, overpriced 32GB memory card. I doubted Sony would screw us over by putting the cap back on the bottle but they did and now I wish I had deleted some Vita game to make space for those PS1 games.

Blargh. I had just deleted Blood Omen from my Vita to make room for Valkyria Chronicles. But I didn't have time to download it until this morning.

I'm so sad now.

Alright, found a way to check.

If you buy a PS1 classic, it shows it's platforms

Capture2_zpscfe6b884.jpg

So if anyone bought a PS1 game like Crash or Spyro in the last few days that wasn't compatable (ie, the people who "should get refunds"), please post the receipt, and it should verify if Sony was actually advertising these items as Vita compatable.

I guess I don't understand why they don't even allow some of their games that they fucking published like twisted metal and motorstorm or even Gran Turismo. It's a really bad system if licensing won't even allow them to put their own games on their own system. Deal with your shit Sony. For once make a decision that's positive about a fucking great system that is dying because of this exact problem.

Not sure how well this will hold up but Rock Band Unplugged has been "Vita compatible" for years lol

Is there a chance that the reversal is temporary? Wasn't Yoshida talking about mapping the controls for spyro himself? Isn't it unlikely that the president would be talking about it if they weren't going to keep the fix?

Why would they need to offer refunds to something that they never offered in the first place? People here and elsewhere rushed to download these games knowing that it was most likely a glitch in the system and got in on it when they could. You can't feel entitled to something Sony never offered you to begin with.

They did offer them for sale as 'Playable on Vita' though, glitch or no glitch. And they should honour refunds or downloads on those sales.

Thats really great... they 1st go back on that, and then they release that crap selection for VITA IGC in US. Thanks Sony! I really apprecaite it! F* that! =/

http://community.us.playstation.com...that-work-not-on-the-Sony-lists/td-p/37143783

VC2 is on that list. There's a bigger list but I don't have the link on me right now.

EDIT: even somewhat bigger and more organized list http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/281768-complete-list-of-pspminispsone-games-playable-on-vita/

Yeah, I'm curious about the ones that originally weren't compatible like the Crash/Spyro games, Portable Ops, and Twisted Metal. I'm curious if anyone downloaded those through the PS3 during or after the glitch.

Only read the last page, but what games can you guys not get? Spyro trilogy is showing up for me along with all the crash games. Same with GT PSP.

Can confirm Tried with All Spyro and Crash games. Didn't work, had to sort through 2000 downloadables to find the 7 games.

It's more than likely they enabled this feature early by accident. You're right I even saw that tweet by Yoshida.
