Looks like all digital PSP / PSone games work on Vita now [Not Anymore]

I wish I grabbed Fat Princess, Twisted Metal Head On and Gran Turismo. That Twisted Metal game is one of my favs in the series. Very close to 2 but felt more solid, similar to Black.

I feel the same way. I actually owned it before I owned a PSP... it's a really great entry in the series.

Not a chance, it's a gigantic licensing issue. This is why some were saying this was "too good to be true" when the "glitch" happened. The idea that Sony would overcome the licensing barrier for every single PSP / PSONE game on PSN and suddenly make them accessible on Vita made no sense.

Thats ridiculous. E3 surprise or not, this is a very small matter.

Far more games were silently made available all at once when the service was introduced on the Vita.

Its only a few games, so its absolutely not a gigantic issue and they certainly don't have to overcome it for every single game, only the handful that don't work right now.

They may never bring every (or any) game back, but it is factually incorrect to characterize the situation as you have.

So, what's the word on Vita TV heading west? I'd spend $99 bucks to have access to the entire PSP/PSone library.

And, thus, I will continue to buy physical when at all possible.

Well, and you should have zero expectation of a physical game being backwards compatable as we move towards the elimination of physical media.

So, what's the word on Vita TV heading west? I'd spend $99 bucks to have access to the entire PSP/PSone library.

At this point, unless it gets blown out at E3, the odds of this leaving Japan are close to zero- it was a bomb over there, and if they want a cheap box for PS Now streaming, they probably would remove the Vita stuff from it to make it even cheaper

I think your best bet would be to buy the PSP 3000 ($99 last I looked) and buy video out cables for it.

That way you get ALL the PSP games (including disc only games like FF: Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts, and I think it supports more PS1 games than the Vita (admittedly without the second analog stick.

I'm honestly considering that myself, but not sure I'd spend the money myself. Maybe if I got it as a gift or something, haha.

While I'm glad that I was able to grab the games I wanted from my download list, how fucking sad is it that I'm excited to be able to access content that I already paid for?

Yoshida tweeted 2 day ago we could play Spyro on PS Vita and even gave tips about custom controllers. Now the game isn't on the Vita store.

We deserve an explanation.

My message:

@yosp @amboyes @giocorsi @shahidkamal The loyal Vita owners deserve it. #VITAnoLicenseLock #EndLicenseLock #FreeOurGamesOnVita

Don't hold off, there's tons of greatness in that little machine just begging to be played by you. You can almost hear it now...

"Xander get me in your hand-ersssssss" xD

Yeah, not dropping the $200 to play some extra PSone and PSP games seems a bit extreme. The Vita is already well, well worth the price of admission, in my opinion, and you'll find a ton of games to play and features to get into.

Heck, if you already own or might one day own a PS4 it's kind of a must, for me.

Anyone who takes the time to frequent online message boards (and sign up to become a member), is obviously going to be more informed than a huge amount of people who play games.

And I'm not proposing anything, I just said that if someone had gone onto PSN, browsed around, found one of the (many) games that was shown as Vita Compatible over the last few days, bought it, and was suddenly not able to download it, it's not their fault but Sony's. These stores exist to provide information to the person looking for games on them, and if the information on the store is incorrect it's incorrect, simple as that. It sucks that this was a glitch, but I don't blame someone just because they thought it wasn't.

Obviously most of the people on here probably did see this thread, wanted to play some of their favorite games on the Vita, and picked them up BECAUSE they saw that they suddenly could (probably assuming that Sony was going to announce something in a day or two).

I'm happy that your caution payed off for you and a few others in this thread, but it's just annoying to see people flaunting that fact in peoples faces (not saying you were, but there's definitely some of that going on in this thread). "OBVIOUSLY it was a glitch, you people are ignorant morons for not waiting!" "You entitled babies are so stupid for blaming Sony for this, you're at fault here." "Look how smug I am!"

You missed my point entirely (and I pretty much said my point in the post). I'm saying most people who learned you could do this learned it through these sites. In fact, I didn't see that it advertised those games as PS VIta, that's why I held off. So I don't even know how some one who didn't inhabit these sites would even know they could do that. (Bolded in case you miss my point again).

My point being, that the people who found out about this found out through these sites and therefore are likely to realize they may need to wait for confirmation. Sony didn't announce this, you definitely couldn't buy it through the Vita store (I kept looking because that's what I was waiting for for confirmation), and far as I could tell, it didn't say Vita on the non Vita store either.

Fair enough, but some of that information was out on the online store, so that's where I can imagine (a few) people stubbing on one of these games being listed for Vita.

Just be aware that not everyone has the same instincts as you when it comes to waiting and verifying stuff like this.
In many cases, people (especially people on NeoGAF) are actually trained to NOT wait in situations like this. There are a lot of glitches during Steam sales in the past or on Origin that resulted in people getting games are huge discounts or even free (I got Spore, BF: Bad Company, and something else on Origin completely a year or two ago). There was even a Walmart glitch a few months ago where people were able to get stuff at insane discounts and pick it up in stores. (still mad I missed out on that one!)

Thankfully I didn't buy any games BECAUSE of this glitch, but I did buy the Spyro games during the sale to play on my PS3 and when I found out about this glitch I was able to at least download Spyro 1 on my Vita before the glitch was corrected, so I actually benefited from not waiting. For people who did buy games specifically because of this glitch, it does suck, and I hope Sony will honor refunds if they ask for them.

for the new page... anyone who cares

well let's ask Sony to look into this?
I mean #PS4noDRM did help them at the negotiating table right?

so let's try

#EndLicenseLock

@yosp
@amboyes
@giocorsi
@shahidkamal

the point is not to blame Sony. as many have already said, they don't and can't control the entire license agreement. but with all the downloads from this glitch + if we make ourselves heard, I think Sony does have a good case to negotiate with the publishers to rethink about this

"hey look, gamers want this, people are willing to spend money to buy older games, shall we work things out?"

I don't have that expectation. Unless things change drastically as this transition happens, I'll probably be dropping console gaming altogether (or I will move to import only, for as long as that market remains physical).

Of course, there's still PC gaming, which I'm all digital on, but have felt comfortable doing so because backwards compatibility is less of an issue and Valve has proven to be more consumer-centric than Sony, MS or Nintendo.

The List of games that don't work
Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake
Gran Turismo
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus
Midway Arcade Treasure Extended Play
Modnation Racers PSP
Motorstorm Artic Edge
Phantasy Star Portable 2
Platypus
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron
Super Monkey Ball Adventure
Syphon Filter Combat Ops
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
Thexder Neo
Twisted Metal Head On
Wipeout Pure

All other games work either by transfer or directly from system, but many games have been delisted over the years and can no longer be bought (can be re-downloaded if owned)

Thanks. There's a few games there that I would have liked to get, oh well :/

Sony feigned to listen to players about no DRM - well, this is real DRM and it doesn't need to be. I know the Vita audience isn't as large as that of the PS4 - but WE can change it.

Not because the Vita needs saving, rather, these games need to be played and there is an audience willing to pay for them.

Playing some of the PSP games that I had missed out on the Vita's screen and controls was a nice feature.

Enough to push me over the edge and actually purchase a Vita. Now, I am not as interested.

At least I got my beautiful baby Motorstorm before the cruel gatekeepers snatched them away from us. I thought about re-downloading Portable Ops, but I wasn't in the mood.

Quick question: As long as we downloaded the game(s) to our Vitas while it was possible, these "incompatible" games will still be playable, correct?

Unless sony has a way to remote delete them or has a Vita Firmware update that blacklists them

Well I got my Rock Band Unplugged Lite and Burnout Revenge bought and downloaded to Vita.
Got my Crash 1-3 and Spyro 1-3
And a couple PSP demos like PSP1 and PSP2, Rock Band Unplugged and Promethus (hilariously broken game)

Only regrets is not buying Crash Kart
and while not a regret just funny, Mod Nation Racers PSP... such a bad game that I don't even regret not putting it on my Vita

Thankfully, Twisted Metal Head On and the Crash series will forever be on my Vita.

we need more people on this train
maybe someone want to post on Reddit?
I posted on the PSN Blog

Glad I got right on downloading Crash and Spyro to my Vita, this is ridiculous.

Even though I got Crash 2, GT, Motorstorm arctic Edge and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed onto my Vita - it shouldn't have to be like this.

There is a veritable treasure trove of classic games and undiscovered gems, ripe for an audience that would legally pay for them.

Just because we got SOME of the games we wanted and many missed out - we know that they work and are fully functioning. This is real DRM (digital rights management). As a PS4 owner, Sony agreed with the no DRM and 'listened' to the gamers.

The Vita audience is considerably smaller, but no less worthy of being listened to. We shouldn't be neglected and our voices and dollars should be spoken for.

Let Sony know, through Facebook, Twitter and the PSBlog that we encourage them to restore compatibility, officially.

Is it possible to use and dual shock controller with the PSP 3000 when you have it connected to the TV? I'm considering getting my Crash Bandicoot fix this way.

I'm mad about this dumb move, but I got lucky and all my downloads actually finished before they removed it. Got all the PSP and PS1 games in my download list - about 20 or so games in all. My memory card never get corrupted or something.

What would I do if I upgraded to the 64gb card? How can I move everything over?

Well I got my Rock Band Unplugged Lite

And you can still buy and download the DLC songs for Rockband Unplugged Lite?

Also I think the people going "just buy a PSP" have never actually played a game on Vita. Once you go OLED you don't go back. Once you go LCD you might be able to however.

The web store listed all this software as Vita compatible. Anyone who bought these games for play on Vita under those pretenses is entitled to a refund. To argue against that is being willfully obtuse and a corporate apologist.

Did it list it as such? Or was it just available? Big difference.

There was even a Walmart glitch a few months ago where people were able to get stuff at insane discounts and pick it up in stores. (still mad I missed out on that one!)

In that case though, that is them willingly taking that risk to take advantage of what might be a glitch and honestly, not something you can blame Sony for. I decided to play it cautious this time. I've grabbed apps that I knew were glitches (I have an app that I have never used on my iphone that lets me use it as a hotspot for my computer ;) thanks to reading Macrumors, but it was cheap/free so it wasn't a huge loss. And Apple hasn't been known to retroactively remove an app once you have it so I didn't worry so much about that. I don't know about Sony and I know that Amazon has at least removed an ebook retroactively so I acted more cautiously cause I didn't know if Sony would retroactively remove my ability to play the game if I bought it and it was a glitch).

My point is that there is no reason to be so upset you are going to boycott Sony, Sony didn't lie to anyone about this and I think the rare occasion where I would understand some one being upset at Sony is going to be really rare (cause I don't see where Sony advertised it so it seems people who found out found out by this forum or other game related forums). I do think Sony should allow these games to be bought on Vita and I don't understand the companies that won't release licensing (including Sony by that argument cause Gran Turismo is one of those games).

I am disappointed this wasn't an official thing, I thought it was a good move if it was (even though I admit I was upset they did it right after a sale I would have taken advantage of if I had known the games were going to work on Vita). Hell, I even said I'd rather miss the sale and have this be an official/true thing and get the games. So now I get what I would rather not, not miss anything on the sale and not have the games available on Vita.

In the end, the one thing I'm upset about is why aren't these games being allowed on Vita in the first place anyways? Not that I think Sony tricked me or was tricky about it.
