about 40% of spidercove cleared

i'm literally like killing like 2 or 3 spiders then running back to the bonfire then 2 or 3 again then back and again and again 15 times for each spawn

it's tedious, but it kinda desensitizes me to them which is good and also makes me feel a bit less paranoid but man this shit is stressful as fuck

i put on some fun music and picked the weapons that looked the most painful to help i guess

stopped now a bit to recollect myself. the big bad room is still left and spiderweb room too but i think i may leave those alone and just summon someone and have them clear them for me on the way to the boss

If there are no SL restrictions or you're close enough to me, I'd do it for you.
You just have to wait until I can hop on though.

Anyone from GAF who needs a hand and wants me to try to put a summon where you can find me is welcome to ask and I will help if I can.

That said, if any of you are Ancient Dragon pros, I could use a hand. I had two BAMFs help me last night and I had that jerk down to 15% health or so when he pulled a wonky hitbox for his tail out of nowhere and one-shotted me. :\

Wait, 512mb recommended RAM? That has to be an error... I could totally run this if these specs are right.

Well, it is a PS3/360 port so it may well be real...

So DYNASTY WARRIORS is coming, huh. How long before they port the Fatal Frame games and such? Gosh, come on Tecmo, step it up!

GB did a QL of Sir, You Are Being Hunted: http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-sir-you-are-being-hunted/2300-8852/

yay I won
Thank you derExperte! I've wanted to play this for a while :)

Enjoy! I'm planning another playthrough myself to get all the achievements (weren't there when I played the last time).

looks like a xenomorph

I see a sandwich.

Bullet sponge is not really a phrase I'd use to describe them, with the exception of Kleers. I hate those guys. Not fun to fight at all. I was playing SS2 the other day to record some footage, and it felt soooo GOOOOOD.

A man with impeccable taste.

thank you friend, but i think i'm super overleveled so maybe it'll be hard

i'm at like 110 sl and 1.5m soul memory

didn't even grind too much, just dying a lot to smelter demon and now like clearing this. most other places i've done on my first or second run and i've been buying all the armors i find

When you say SS2...You mean The Second Encounter, right?
TSE is pretty amazing, I could never get into SS2, just felt too...odd(not in terms of gunplay, in terms of how Sam and everyone around him acts)

Nope, I mean SS2. I'd say TSE if I meant TSE.

It's quirky, but I love it. Has the best boss fights in the series, as well as the best shotgun. Also vehicles, a great sense of humor, my favorite visuals (ageless), GIANT SPIDERS, and a distinct lack of Kleers.

I have Deus Ex Human Revolution + Missing Link and I have yet to play it (and I will... in the future). Should I buy the Director's Cut and play that instead? I remember reading it wasn't much better though.

Dynasty Warriors 8 was going to have a pc version anyway, it just happened to get localized. I don't think any of the Fatal Frame games have had pc versions so chances of them being ported now are pretty low.

I had to specify which because I know a few SS fans who refuse to acknowledge it as SS2, to them SS1 = TFE, SS2 = TSE, SS-everything else, doesn't exist. lol

And fair enough, I could never get into it, so I don't have much of an opinion on it aside from not for me, but TFE and SE are definitely more my cup of tea.

Heh. You're overleveled? I'm @ SL172. I think it costs over 40k souls to go up a point now... I want to hit 180, I think. I tend to keep my souls near 0 so in case something bad happens I don't have an aneurysm. I've been buying heaps of greatarrows and such getting ready for NG+ while I occasionally take shots at the Ancient Dragon.

While I'm talking about Dark Souls 2 -- can someone explain to me the benefits to dual wielding? I just can't see it unless it's got something to do with wanting the power stance move set or if for some reason mixing and matching certain weapons can lead to advantages... I have several level 10 katana blades... but I can't see the benefit of doing dual wield over single with two-handed grip.

nothing would surprise me more than Atelier game on steam.
not gonna happen, but I will believe, the day will come

while we are at it, DoA would be nice and NG.

The only things that are really different in the Director's Cut are the bosses can be handled differently and the Missing Link DLC is actually integrated into the game, along with developer commentary. It's only $5, but if you don't care about any of those features, you shouldn't feel compelled to buy it.

The boss fights are better and you get commentary to go through afterwards that sheds some light on a bunch of neat things, but overall I'd stick with the originals. Director's Cut introduces a bunch of minor visual bugs, brings back bugs that were patched from the original, and while Missing Link being incorporated into the main game is good in theory it really just messes up the pacing in practice.

Play the originals, get DC for commentary only.

Oh man... do you know how excited I'd be if they ported the gen 6 fatal frame games? Fatal Frame 2 Director's Cut in 1080p... mmmmm.

Same here! I've been replaying them with PCSX2 and these games NEED the higher resolution and FPS...

Maybe if DreadOut does well it'll force Tecmo to do it since the former is basically based on the FF series.

And maybe Konami could wake up and put out SH1 to 4 on Steam... The fuel for a survival horror revival (heh) is there, it just needs the ignition keys!

edit: but, yeah, unless a next gen console update of Fatal Frame 1 to 3 exists, there is no chance in hell Tecmo will port the old ones.

It has a decent start, gets worse (the swamp), then starts having its best levels. Does it have any of the HUGE SS MAPS? Nah, not really, but the tighter encounters lead to more intelligent fighting, IMO, rather than just "strafe and never let go of the trigger."

Do they run pretty well in PCSX2? I might sell my Xbox copies of 1 & 2 and get PS2 ones if that's the case.

NG is tops on the list as far as I'm concerned.
After that, I'll say that I wish DW8 was really WO3. Playing as other Tecmo characters in that musou setting is more appealing than playing as the DW characters to me. Being able to use Ryu and Momiji and other characters like that is what sounds like a good time.

And you mention DoA, but I'd much rather have Tekken on PC... that's not going to happen either though.

As Rickenslacker says below, I hear the commentary is really good. But yeah, it's supposedly "improved" boss fights, which I take with a grain of salt -- I pretty much had the worst time with boss fights that I could've and I still thought they were fine and manageable. :)

I don't know that I agree that they're better. They're changed, for sure... that's mainly the reason I picked up the DC version -- I figure if I get the desire to replay it, I'll use that version and check out the differences. To me it seems like spoiled gamers just bitching when something is difficult or designed in a way they didn't like, sort of like the Dead Rising (and to an extent Dead Rising 2) time limit and save systems.

Holy fuck, the lightsaber combat in Jedi Outcast is awesome. I forgot how much fun this game was once you got your lightsaber, your force powers and it starts to regularly throw Dark Jedi opponents at you. Mechanically the melee combat in JO just dumps all over The Force Unleashed and it's so much more refined than Jedi Knight. Jedi Knight was an awesome idea, Jedi Outcast is awesome execution of that idea. In Jedi Knight you only got the duels in like 4 or 5 boss fights, I think I've already had more lightsaber fights in Bespin than I did in all of Jedi Knight.

The locomotion in Jedi Outcast is pretty sweet too, wall running, massive jumps, flipping over and around opponents. It's so damned good.

I thought Ryu at least was exclusive to the WiiU version of Warriors Orochi 3? Tekken on PC would be a dream come true. I'm really bad at playing Tekken but at least the game would look nice.

I'm serious.

It was a joke about the most recent game getting a 18+ rating on Australia.
Wow, that's really strange.
I'm not into the Atelier games(Actually, I just bought Atelier Escha and Logy Alchemists of the Dusk Sky a few days ago which will by my first entry into the games series) but they all seem really cute and friendly for all ages(the game I just bought is PG for example, same as ni no kuni), why does it have an R18+ rating?

Will Volgarr keep this discount through the whole sale?

Probably not considering most of yesterday's discounts are gone.

The commentary is definitely interesting if you enjoyed the game and would like to learn more about it. Even if you don't want to play it for just that, I recommend EatChildren's thread regarding the commentary. The main thing with the boss fights were that they added new methods of defeating the bosses for people who didn't focus on combat, so they might or might not be improved for some people depending on their play style. Though the boss fights were okay without the changes, the changes did make experimenting a little more interesting.

They totally raised the price of the Cities in Motion 1 & 2 Collection despite the flash not being over. From 5€ to over 20. Not cool. What is cool is Ironclad Tactics for 3.99.

Same question for two games, is Castle Storm or Mortal Kombat worth it on PC?

I played Castle Storm at a PAX some time ago and it seemed interesting and I've been meaning to play the new Mortal Kombat forever now.

Also stoked about Transistor being up. Just wish there was a discount for the bundle with the soundtrack.

MK9 is cool if you play singleplayer and local multiplayer only as the netcode doesn't work well. It is a good looking PC port and quite well optimized too. I'm not sure if they ever fixed the bug where opening steam overlay to invite friends would always cause the game to crash.

Most definitely, yeah. And looks quite nicer if you up the internal resolution way beyond what the PS2 could do. FF1 had some unfiltered textures from the old days of software mode in some of its cutscenes. FF2 and 3 look great.

It's a shame those day are lost, there were plenty of interesting takes on the survival horror with Haunting Ground, Kuon, Rule of Rose, all three FF, the SH games, Clock Tower 3 and... well, those are the ones I know of, pretty sure I'm missing a couple.

Recently I felt the need of revisiting a lot of old classics. Some have aged well, others not so much. The FF games would've been perfect for PC with the Camera Obscura being mouse controlled and all (although I feel it would've made the game super easy due to precise aiming.)

Whatever, yeah, give it a try if you have a good comp.

edit: oh, yeah, Nintendo owns the series now so most definitely we can say goodbye to any chances of a PC version of the FF games ever.

If you haven't played the new Mortal Kombat, do it NOW!. Probably the best fighting game of last gen. From what I've heard the online is really laggy though and the servers are going down when Gamespy will close, so if you don't care about online that much go for it

I've heard so much about the story I think I should experience it. There's a really good challenge tower thing too right? Thanks for the response too Aerocrane.

Anyone have an opinion on Castle Storm?

Don't Starve is getting multiplayer this summer
http://forums.kleientertainment.com...er-multiplayer-officially-coming-summer-2014/
Don’t Starve Together is a multiplayer expansion for Don’t Starve allowing friends or complete strangers to survive together, in either public or private games. As far as we know, it will have most of (if not all) the normal features in Don’t Starve, balanced for multiplayer, and potentially even add new features.

Don’t Starve Together will be a free expansion for all current owners of Steam / Standalone. Thank you for supporting us!
With the addition of multiplayer, the price of Don’t Starve will go up to $19.99 USD around the time Alpha becomes available.

Ed Boon says otherwise.

No idea, I know it's a remake of the first game and that was rated lower.

Back on topic, anyone who got Full Bore should play it, the game is a good puzzle and adventure plus the OST is amazing and the boars are strangely cute.
