Well I guess, the game is bigger than just 50gb and so you have to download the rest. It's not a Day One Patch - it's parts of the game that didn't fit on the BD.

If you buy a game on disc it should work (and work properly) out of the box.
This is just 'we'll ship the beta and patch it later' attitude combined with completely fucking over everyone who buys the game but doesn't have an internet connection (please don't go full adam orth when you reply to this, thanks!) or has bandwidth caps (I feel for you if you do, my shitstain ISP used to have them too)
Also in before 'they need to reserve fab time in advance to have discs pressed' day one patch defense force
they had to in the ps2 days too, the solution is really easy :don't make the game go gold until it's ACTUALLY finished.

This info is inaccurate.
The game has the same installation steps that other Xbox One and PS4 games have out there, and particularly on PS4, it installs very quickly (I was surprised how fast it was).
I can tell you that I've played the game on my PS4 and Xbox One without having a retail patch installed at home, and showing the game during a livestream as early as Tuesday, the game was not installing a day 1 patch.
Glad we got the explanation on this so quickly.

I am so pumped for this game! I just recently finished the first one on 360 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although this one looks quite a bit different, I am loving the alternate Nazi occupied mech ridden future. I find the WW2 era of history fascinating anyway, which is why CoD WaW was my fav cod, and I love other WW2 games.

I really hope music used for trailers and promotion is also in the game. Or at least have some sort of in-game soundtrack. Maybe something like unlockable 'soundtrack mode'.

Was very surprised to wake up to an email from Amazon today saying they bumped my order up to launch day delivery for free. Pretty cool stuff, anyone else get this?
I got the same email, but I'm already a Prime member so it should have been coming on launch day anyway. For me it was quite an odd email to get days before launch.
