$22 Free Credit on the Amazon Appstore - Today Only

Basically:

1) "Buy" the 9 free titles today (links at the link). Get 900 coins ($9 credit).
2) Use 699 coins ($6.99) to buy GTA: San Andreas.
3) You have 201 coins ($2.01) left over plus you get an additional 2000 coins ($20) for buying GTA.

Net result = free 2201 coins ($22.01) as credit to use at the Appstore.

This works because you're stacking promos, one of which is only valid for today.

Note that the version of GTA:SA is Kindle/FireTV only, so if you don't have a Kindle or FireTV you can't play it, but the coin credit works on pretty much all the Android apps on the Appstore.

It's shady as all get out, but you can delete the San Andreas app and redownload to get another 2000 coins.

Don't know if they patched the hole yet.

I did it on the US store. Didn't think to check the other Amazon sites, but if they're running the same coin promo, no reason why it shouldn't work.

How long do these free credits last
I remember getting $5 from something posted here before but it's now gone

Fine print on Amazon site says the coins are good for one year.

Basically Amazon created the coins to get around gift card laws (which would mean the value would never expire), but they pegged it to 1 coin = 1 cent in the US, so it's basically money that expires one year after you get it.

Those coins are only good for purchases of Apps, correct? As in to say, I can't use that credit towards regular Amazon purchases?

Now email Amazon CS and politely ask them to let you use the coins on Amazon proper. They make a one-time exception, take your coins away, and then give you gift card credit.

Just tried it. You certainly get the 900 coins, but I didn't get 2000 upon purchasing GTASA

Edit: Nevermind! Just kicked in, this works.

Looks like they fixed this. I'm down to ~1500 coins after trying it.

It sucks that San Andreas is Kindle only. The Amazon Appstore isn't Kindle only, yet developers often make games on the Appstore Kindle only... I was looking forward to getting San Andreas yesterday and couldn't, so now that I actually have it, I'm just a bit sad I can't play it on my devices.

To be fair, though, the Amazon Appstore supposedly sucks for developers compared to the Google Play Store, so I can see developers trying to get people to buy their games on Google's service over Amazon's, but still.

Well, it worked but I'm still not sure I want to install the Amazon App Store.

Nothing wrong with installing it. I don't think it's, like, malware or anything.

Amazon coins do not expire if you buy them. This is just one of their credit promos.

bish gets all the credit :)
worked for me, but I have 2500 coins (GTA was only 400 coins due to some promotion). thanks.

"Bought" the 9 free apps, said I got 100 coins after every purchase and I have exactly 0 coins on my account. I've waited couple of hours already so I don't think those coins ever went into my account despite the site saying otherwise.

Also GTA:SA isn't available in my country (anywhere outside of US?) although Amazon.com appstore specifically mentions that it is the store to use in Finland. There's just this text on GTA specifically (nothing like this on other games I checked):

"You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions."

So basically I got nothing from the free apps that gave 100 coins, and I can't buy GTA:SA either. Now I'm off to punch some kittens.

So...what do I do with these?

Some decent (non-Kindle) options:

Final Fantasy IV = $15.99
Star Wars Pinball (from Zen) = $1.99
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 = $2.99
Minecraft Pocket = $6.99
GTA: Vice City = $4.99
Terraria = $4.99

Some will even give you more coins back when buying.

For example, Minecraft is 699 coins, but it gives you 350 back when you purchase it.

Anyone else have any purchase recommendations?

Sweet I got a bunch of coins but I don't care about gaming on my phone. My nexus 5 has no battery life as is anyways.

Any good paid apps I can use this on, maybe launchers or icon packs? If not I'll probably blow it on angry birds or something stupid.

You can also get another 200 coins from these

Plus an extra £2 from Amazon Local (dont know if there's a US equivalent) to buy GTA with.

So overall ended up with around 2800 coins.

now if only Aksys would finish up the android port of Banshee’s Last Cry

it's been almost 6 months ;_;

edit: and Shin Megami Tensei is "late spring/summer" for android

Cant find Photo Studio PRO and San Andreas on my Amazon app...any help?

Do it on Amazon's web site. Even if it's incompatible with all of your devices, you can still buy it on their web site.

It's also muuuuuch faster to do it on their web site. Just go to the link that is in the OP, click the link for each app, and buy all of them with "1-click". If you open nine tabs, you can 1-click buy them all in less than nine seconds. :p
