You haven't even played the game or know about the development to make such a baseless statement.

Imagine you were trapped on a project that wasn't going well for over 6 years. You've left the company officially (either voluntarily, or you were forced out) and feel an obligation (either personal or legal) to complete the work. This game is, in all likelihood, not going to be a masterpiece born of Ueda's pure passion.

I'm fairly optimistic that something concrete will be said/shown at this year's E3.

However if it doesn't make an appearance I think that will be it and it's never likely to see the light of day.

E3 2014 or bust!

Yep. "Oh, this was always a Japanese game and they'll show that at TGS." Then when it doesn't show, "Oh, well I guess they're saving it for the One More Thing at the next e3."

Repeat forever.

During the PS2 or even PS3 era then perhaps a game like this would have been saved for TGS.

However the fact that the PS4 was released in Europe and the US quite a way before Japan shows that things have changed. It makes sense to reveal at E3 in front of a Western audience.

Just a feeling..!

I am of the mind that games that take ten years in development are probably not games worth waiting for.

At best, they are likely games you will have to make excuses to justify and defend them because you've invested emotionally over a decade.

Well it's really only been 5 years since it was announced (potentially early because of that leaked trailer), but at this point I imagine it's all been trashed. Because it's dead.

Don't need a support group, I'm convinced it's coming.

Everyone says 'lol vaporware' with things like Versus XIII, LA Noire, RDR2, etc, and then they reemerge and it's like none of those people ever made fun of people for thinking those projects were alive.

Between this and FF VS (15), it's not easy to watch Sony events.
Always thinking this will be the next thing. It will surely release this year. It has to.

Honestly, the development problems Last Guardian has been having (plus the fact that the director is wanting to leave Sony all together), coupled with potentially moving to a new platform and Sony trying to cut down game expenses as a whole...
I'd be surprised if this really still exists. I'm sure in some form, a game from this team is still being made, but I have a hard time believing it will even be remotely like what we saw. And even if it is, I doubt Sony will give it any sort of push. They seem to really just not care about their Japanese branches anymore. If it's not Naughty Dog, then it's not getting a spotlight, that's for sure.

If thats your take on things then pkay but lets not pretend any of that is based in knowledge.

My take is simple. Team previously made SoTC and ICO two of my favourite games of the forever is making a new game for PS4.....yeah I'll be excited for this for a long time.

I will create whole oceans of salt if this isn't at E3.

Where have you been all these years.....we do this every year.

I'm naturally assuming that even if it is re-revealed next month, it won't come out until 2017.

Of course its still coming. I honestly can't believe people think its been canned....reminds me of this:

I've been a believer every E3/TGS but this is the last time and if it doesn't get shown THIS E3 then I....I....would just let go.

I swear this is the last time!!

Now seriously. The game is being worked on in same way shape or form at Japan Studios. The only Sony representative that hinted the game was on a halt was Jack Tretton that said it was on hiatus to be corrected promptly by Yoshida. It would be cool to have it reintroduced at E3. I feel though that Sony if this game is really going to be finished will rereveal it as close to a finished state as they can. They want to confidently say: "This game will release on the x of y 20 and something" I hope we'll get that this E3. If not there are other games and entertainment to soothe me through. A Thatgamecompany game could be a great reveal too for this E3. Are there hints of what those guys are working on floating around?

Why is it so hard to believe?
Sony has just canceled a number of well into development games and let off a lot of people.
A game that is years in the making and maybe still years out, that has had serious development issues and who's staff is looking to leave...
Seems like a ripe candidate for the cancel hammer.
I'm hoping it's not. But it's easy to understand the doubt.

I can't wait for them to show it off and then blow up the logo at the end, revealing that it was Final Fantasy XVI the whole time.

Just to remind you this is a support group. If you feel you have to be negative fine, however could you please tone down the morbid language.

Just send out a release date, and force this team of X people who have been working on the same game for probably close to a decade to finally finish the F'in thing.

Eventually you just have to put your foot down and say enough is enough. They probably should of done this already, but likely decided many years ago to push this game onto the PS4 instead of putting it out onto the PS3.

Yup, I'm in, totally can't help it.

Huh? This is totally not happening, they just expanded most of their studios, they're definitely not cutting down on gaming expenses, if anything it's the opposite.

While it's true they haven't been pushing their Japanese titles enough, in this particular case if it were to come out I'd say they actually won't have a choice but to give it a push. It's not just Japanese media that bug them about the game all the time, and since western media does too I don't think they could get away from pushing it more than they usually do for their Japanese games because western media will probably bug them about it.

The team of 'X' people aren't on TLG though, or at least haven't been.

We know Team ICO staff have been on Gravity Rush, Puppeteer and Knack over the last few years, and we know the TLG team is primarily programmers 'reengineering' the game, presumably meaning porting it to PS4.

The 'foot down' moment presumably happened a while ago. If you read the recent Edge article detailing porting TLoU to PS4 being hell, imagine porting a PS3 game that was never even in a fit shape to ship originally, it's a non-trivial task to bring it over.

You have an odd idea of expanding.
They may be hiring, but they laid off nearly entire studios recently and many high profile people have been leaving.

Let's make a promise to each other.

If it doesn't show up at E3, you will never speak of this game again. Agree to that and I shall deem you Honorary Last Guardian Survivor.

And what we should do if it shows up? :p (besides crying out of joy and not faint out of shock)

If the game isn't re-revealed this year then it's pretty much doomed to never come out.

But, if you want to stay hopeful (or rather, not completely lose hope..) there is, of course, one "shining" example of the impossible becoming true, DNF.

I don't know if it's a good idea to liken The Last Guardian to Duke Nukem Forever...

Yeah, I'm in. Playing through the Ico/SotC HD collection now, so great.

Edit: This is the post that gets me to member status? It must be a sign! Believe!

How many of those games have been officially announced?
How many of those officially announced games have had trailers shown?

In how many of those games have the producers as well as the developers constantly iterated that the game is still in development?

With the curtain soon to close on the PlayStation 3 generation, is time for fans to give up hope on The Last Guardian ever coming out?
The team is still there in SCE Japan Studio, [Fumito] Ueda-san is still there, but we are still waiting for the time to reintroduce it.

“As some of you may have heard, I left Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio some time ago to pursue my creative passions,” he wrote. “Nevertheless, I continue working on The Last Guardian as a freelance contributor. While it’s been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team.

Go on. Tell me.

Go on. Tell me.

Sorry, but vague quotes from nearly a year ago (Even longer for the Ueda quote) don't fill me with confidence.
Again, I hope it's not canceled, but let's face it. The Last Guardian is in serious trouble.
If it wasn't, there wouldn't be need for a "support group."
People realize that there is a chance the game will never see the light of day, and that is disheartening.
