2014: The Year of Keeping Nothing For E3.

I think in the latest bombcast they talked a while about how expensive it is for publisher's to attend E3. I think it was jeff that said that E3 in it's current form isn't effective.

2014: The Year of Keeping Nothing For E3.

Well, both companies didn't announce any games this month. They're showing gameplay footage of games they announced last year and basic information (title, quarter, and box cover of Halo 5).

Sunset Overdrive and The Order were revealed on the same day and we got a nice and long gameplay preview of SO recently. It seems natural to see The Order get the same treatment now.

I like that idea, I remember MS used to do it with events called X06, X07 etc and they were decent.

Most thought the reveal trailer at E3 was pure CG too but now we know they have shown not a millisecond of CG since showcasing the game lol.

What they are doing with the engine is beyond stunning to me.

For example, that gif, the soft cloth physics on the cape is reacting to what looks like a gust of wind that hits at different intervals along with his basic movement. Everything visually has been so damn good.

That wasn't CG either. It was the game. One thing they've said is that what you see in cutscenes is what you see in gameplay. They're using the exact same models, textures, lighting etc. in both. That way everything transitions smoothly without anything sticking out.

Agreed. I prefer it when dev teams working on a single player focused title, put all of their efforts into that component rather than shoehorning in a multiplayer mode that no one will play after the first week.

I'm looking forward to this new media/info on The Order. I love the concept and the art direction show so far.

My guess is we'll get a few minutes of gameplay. Don't think they'd bother doing this if they were only going to show like 30 seconds of gameplay, and I don't think the game is ready enough to show too much more, tbh. Still, I'm eagerly awaiting anything more I can learn about this game because it looks fantastic from what we know so far.
