Forza Horizon 2 announced (360, Xbox One), releasing this fall

I doubt Turn 10 (and PG as a result) would take exclusivity rights. They've seen first-hand how awful it is for devs to get a sublicence with the FM4 Porsche pack.

Yeah, I remember the shit they had to go though for the Porsche pack. I thought the LaFerrari was exclusive to them for awhile but then again, Forza 5 is barely getting the C7 Vette.

I feel like Drivatar got such bad criticism in reviews, surprised they are bringing it back.

Because at the time of the reviews it was only a very few people who's AI was running around. Out of the game reviewing populace there's probably a handful that are interested in car games, let alone good.

Sticking the AI difficulty on any of the top three options alleviates a lot of the douchbaggery, and as a result, it doesn't actually become any harder.

Drivatars were generally liked I thought. That's what I gathered from all the reviews I read.

I certainly like them, they make races much more interesting. They might not be the perfect fit for FM though as they tended to be a bit rougher. That would be perfect for FH though.

There are still cross-gen worries here (as noted by friends of mine). Being cross gen means it's still shackled to 360 whether or not another studio is doing that version. The game still has to downport to run on 0.5GB of RAM, etc.

Cross gen is so confusing, especially for a first party game that Microsoft needs to help push the Xbone. TitanFall I can get because it was a third party exclusive and the publisher likely mandated a 360 version, but this? No fucking idea why it is cross gen.

It's not a system seller. They'll probably make a lot more money off the 360 version than the Xbone version.

Very weird decision to make it cross gen. Forza Horizon was by far one of my most favorite racing games in a very long time. If there's a big enough step up from the 360 version to the xbone one, I will very likely pick one up for this (and Halo 2 anniv, of course).

Pleasantly surprised about the setting - I wasn't really looking forward to Louisiana. Bring on Europe.

Can't wait to see screenshots tomorrow :)

This is even weirder, you would think the decision to put it on 360 was because it started its development on that platform... now this means MS is actually hiring someone else to make sure the game is on 360.

Pretty much, yeah. And FM5's engine being used is not necessarily good news to me either. I did not like how that game looked at all, but I guess 30 fps should help.

horizon is my favorite racing game of last gen so im excited for this. I dont own a Xbone yet, only a ps4 but sunset overdrive is enticing me, im really looking forward to MS conference to see if i end up getting it sooner rather than later.

I am looking forward to this.
Mario Kart for me so far has been the best racer of this generation so far, and if they have DLC it will keep me entertained to well after the WiiU is discontinued.

But I want an arcade racer like this, open world, good graphics and fun gameplay.

I am struggling to get in to Forza 5. It's sterile, the progression takes too long and I'm hating the lack of funds I'm receiving from races. I hope it's an easier progression.

Also Crossgen is a great thing, not everyone can afford a new console, and it's good they are getting new exclusive games.

Highly looking forward to the P3tran Drivatar to race while driving down the Autostrade between Turin and Milan! (Wishful thinking, I know...) Curious to see if the Drivatar system will account for the use of short cuts?

C'mon MS, surprise us with general Wheel support too! (No excuses then)

This is true. In the short run this is going to earn them a lot more money. In the long run its hardly going to have an impact on console sales.
They're probably also going to completely ignore the 360 when it comes to marketing as they did with Titanfall.

So you think Microsoft, a company known for completely dropping it's prior console and not thought to have any 360 games in development was making a 360 game and just bumped it up to Xbone? This screams, "We need to sell as many copies as possible, make that new Forza game 360 as well" to me.

Man Microsoft just can't catch a break with some of you. No matter what they do, its always wrong.

Titanfall on 360 looked like shit compared to XB1. The differences between the too were quite huge. That's why there was virtually no media of the game before it released.

Expecting FH2 on 360 to look at least on par with the first game (which was excellent, btw) while the XB1 version will look significantly better.

I enjoyed drivatar in Forza 5, very interesting how they will feature it in Horizon 2.
Will it only be active in races or will I see friends driving around on the open road?

One aspect that should be taken into consideration though is that the XB1 isn't out in every territory yet.
So for a sizable chunk of people the 360 version will be the only possibility to play the game at all.

Why are so many people assuming it started development on the 360? FH1 came out at the end of 2012 so they would have known that the X1 was coming.

There's absolutely no reason to believe this has been held back by 360. Please some one show evidence that it is. The most reasonable explanation is that it's a next gen game which is stripped down massively for 360. There's no reason to think otherwise.

If FH2 360 looks great at 720/30, I hope the One version runs at 1080/60 if it's not significantly different from a design and gameplay perspective. I'm hoping for the latter though. I want a bigger open world with more dynamic looking races compared to the original.

From what I understand the 360 and the Xbone versions are based on different graphics engines so the differences can be quite big...hell even games running on the same engine that were downported to run on 512mb of ram can look much much better on the stronger hardware if done right - just look at Metro Last Light and Crysis 3.

Not gonna happen, at least not both. I will eat delicious crow if it does.

Nothing has been a "system seller" for a long time. Knack, Killzone, and inFamous weren't considered "system sellers" yet the PS4 is taking off like crazy. TitanFall was considered a system seller and it still failed to boost the Xbone past the PS4's NPD numbers the month it launched, while being packed into the fucking box.

What matters is the systems current library of exclusives and potential future. The more cross gen we get the less reason non-enthusiasts have to pick up the new systems early.

Right now for holiday 2014 next gen exclusives we have Sunset Overdrive and Driveclub. Everything else has been pushed to 2015 or is cross gen, it is pretty shitty.

Abandoning your console within a year of your new one launching is a good way to make people mad. Not everyone adopts early or has the money for a 400 dollar console.

Check my post history. Forza Horizon 2 is the game that I needed to buy an XO this fall. This game was my system seller.

I doubt it. If the game was that important to you I don't think youd be willing to play a version that will surely be dramatically worse on 360 probably with cut features.

Why are you constantly in XB1 threads when you will never purchase one? Concern trolling at its finest

Oh, I'll purchase one when it's $199, don't worry. I was all 360 last gen, and I hated having to change my primary system. But alas, you have me all pegged, don't you?

Okay, and I'm sure that for someone, somewhere, the PS4 version of Hotline Miami will be a system seller. Not what I mean, or really what anyone means, by that term though.

I find it strange they'd (IGN) would make such a huge deal about IGN First and announcing Horizon 2... and releasing no footage. Not even a teaser or a screenshot.

They were quoted as saying they have a lot of content so hopefully we'll get a look at the game too. It's a little weird to see hands on preview of a game that no one in the public has seen.

All data we have about cross gen sales on the older consoles suggests you're completely wrong, but don't let that stop you from painting your own narrative.

They can get more views by dragging it over days

I was under the impression that Titanfall 360 outsold Titanfall Xbone?

No exact figures have been provided, but based on evidence we have for previous games that launched on both new and old consoles at the same time, the new consoles sold bigger numbers for most games.

edit: as an example of a newer franchise that appeared on all platforms at the same time, Thief sold more on PS4/XBO in Feburary.

Well, they did say that they would continue support to the 360. Só this is quite nice.

And since it is a different studio I don't think it causes any problem.

No 360 version is millions left on the table for someone else. I don't get why people find it so strange that Microsoft want to make money. I mean really.

Don't like it sure, but it's pretty straight forward why it is this way.

Everyone bitched that ms was abandoning the 360 and when they release a game for it the are questions and bashed. People are never happy. I guess the few million who bought fh on 360 wanted it on their 360. Why make a last gen game that everyone played on a next gen system where only the graphics are being enhamced? Supporting Their last gen product is great.
