gonna make an OT for theHunter, there's some threads but they're from 2009, this seems like a re-release taking advantage of Steam and all

Good news for German users:

Changed releasestate – preloadonly › released about 4 minutes ago

You can now buy the ROW version of Wolf14 and play it without switching to Offline Mode/using the app id trick/using a VPN. No more fooling around!

Edit: Spoke too soon.

Oh yay! The Windows 8 Store really needs more games :p

Saying that's what they're doing, and actually doing it, are two separate things obviously.

Though to their credit, I've seen a few things crop up lately on Steam that are customer-centric changes being made to the store. Like market prices for inventory items
you're welcome. :)
, changes to the marketplace filters, and even adding "Early Access Review" labels where appropriate. All said, I think I've seen more positive changes to the Steam site in the last 3 months than I have in the last 3 years.

But I agree that they definitely could (and should) be doing a lot more, especially when it comes to customer service.

The fact that they've had every opportunity to poach you and have repeatedly failed to seize on it just makes their dedication to the user experience seem even more questionable. :p

Edit: Though thinking about it, it makes a kind of twisted sense...

JShackles: "Hey, guys! Let me improve the experience for Steam users! I want to help!"

Valve: "Hmm... I don't think this guy's a good fit for our corporate philosophy."

for every game that is released with a DRM free version, i buy on humble because that will get me a steam code along with a client-less version.

does GOG not give steam keys on principle? because the way i see it, humble offering DRM free AND optional steam keys is more pro-consumer.

As a heads-up, people in Murdered: Soul Suspect OT seem to like the game a fair bit, I think it's set now the game is going to go on to become a niche game like Alpha Protocol or Deadly Premonition, not to say its like those games but I think its status is going to become like them. Though probably not worth the full-on pricetag as its length is shorter, and has some flaws.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I think we can all agree that what Valve needs to do is relocate to an area where the standard of living is significantly below the Pacific Northwest and take advantage of a workforce that is willing to be paid below most Western standards.

Well, it's said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so Valve implementing the item price feature is, in a way, a pat on the back! :p

Where are you seeing this? http://steamdb.info/sub/41691/ still has "prohibitrunincountries DE".

The app listing itself. I didn't think to check the sub. :(

If you do, make a point of mentioning that the pricing is regional on Steam. The prices on the game's website are currently in USD and may work out cheaper for some people.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I know you joke, but I recently walked away from the hiring process at Humble Bundle after having a few interviews simply because I wouldn't be able to afford living in San Francisco.

I just think it's cool that every Steam user has access to this feature now. It's damn handy, and I've used it daily since it was originally developed last year.

I do wonder if CDPR will eventually dabble in attaching keys to games, perhaps not itself but at least the option will be there for indies -- what Humble does, basically.

Damn. That must have been a rough realization.

That would be nice, that's why I don't buy new releases from GOG and only buy oldies, but if indies came with a Steam key I would.

it would be funny if i was forced to buy witcher 3 through humble or steam so i could get both versions (assuming they do the thing where you can redeem steam purchases on your GOG account again)

kind of silly that GOG is the worst place to buy witcher games. i suppose you could buy from them and beg for a steam key through email. i've succesfully pulled this off a couple times

Would love to see you land some nice paying work, Valve be damned.

Tropico 5 launch most successful in series history
tropico5.jpg

El Presidentes around the world have elected with their wallets to make Tropico 5 the most successful launch in the franchise's history, according to publisher Kalypso. The game reached sales of "over six figures," topping the Steam sales charts and showing impressive debuts in the UK and Germany.

We mentioned in our review of Tropico 5 that we felt Tropico 4 remains a better experience, but it's still good to see players voting to play the sunny banana republic simulation series. The Xbox 360 and Mac versions of the game are planned for summer, with the PS4 expected to welcome the Tropico delegation this autumn.

Dragon Age Inquisition screenshots show new environments, also The Fade

Bioware have released a bumper selection of screenshots from the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition—one of the few AAA releases still clinging to a 2014 launch. The new environmental shots show a series of areas set to debut in the RPG sequel, and also offer a look at the returning 'Fade'. The magical, er, whatever it is, wasn't an entirely popular segment of the first Dragon Age: Origins, and spawned a popular mod to skip the bloody place entirely. For lore fans, Bioware have also been filling out the backstory of these areas with in-character texts. Through them, you can read a Lord Seeker's address to the students of Therinfal Redoubt, or a First Enchanter's rambling thoughts about The Fade. None of which will really matter when Dragon Age: Inquisition is released on October 7th. We'll all be too busy killing dragons and sexing companions.

Starcraft 2 becomes a turn-based RPG with new mod Rogue Star
Rogue-Star2.jpg

Trailer

The thing that stops me from being good at Starcraft 2 is I can only manage a few minutes of furious finger work. Luckily, there's now hope for those of us without the stamina to sustain our armies: Rogue Star, a Starcraft 2 Arcade mod that transforms the game into a turn-based RPG. Take that, pro-gamers—you could be spending whole, luxurious minutes before activating your blink attacks.

"The prologue contains 30+ abilities, 60+ items, and 10 unique enemy types," explains the mod's creator in a SC2 Arcade forum post. Elsewhere, in the mod's dedicated subreddit, he reveals that while Rogue Star is single-player only right now, co-op and PvP will be "added in a later content patch". More classes are also planned.

The best part is that, because Blizzard have made the Starcraft 2 Arcade free, you can play the game regardless of whether you own the base RTS. All you need to do is download the Arcade, and search its games list for Rogue Star.

PC Still Rules As Core Gaming Device, Beats Out Xbox, PlayStation, Wii U

New market research data conducted by Dealnews with nearly 1,000 participants has revealed some very interesting facts. For instance, PC gaming is still master of the game room and that more than 58% of hardcore gamers have yet to upgrade to the new-gen systems.

The infographic lets loose some very cool stats about the state of today's gaming marketplace, where we find that 39% of the survey participants still prefer PC as their primary gaming device. That actually makes a ton of sense because I'm part of that 39% – joined after all those great Steam deals and then I built up an undeniably valuable Steam library and realized I could play them at any time. It's like picking up a treasure box but not opening it until a later date and then realizing that you have a bunch of gold inside... or in this case, games actually worth owning and playing.
ibw3prUOUVJZFc.gif

However, closely behind PC is the Xbox One and Xbox 360. The stats share so there's probably a discrepancy between Xbox One and Xbox 360, with more people probably (and most likely) favoring the Xbox 360 over the Xbox One, but it still shows a 26% share valuation just behind PC. This is followed by the PS3 and PS4 with 24% of the market value and Nintendo's consoles and mobile devices only capturing 11% of the pie.
_1401821585.jpg

Interestingly enough, as mentioned at the top of the article, more than half of all those participants on the console side are still rocking old-gen hardware, as 58% of gamers have not upgraded to the Xbox One, Wii U or PS4. It could have something to do with the price of entry being higher for the eighth-gen consoles, with Dealnews writing...

“We asked current-generation Xbox and PlayStation users how many games they've bought for their console, and a whopping 82% have purchased one to seven titles; based on the standard MSRP price of $60 a game, that's as much as $420. “

It's not hard to see why gamers would want to hold off on jumping into eighth-gen when prices are still high and software variety is still low... well, unless you count the Wii U's ever-expanding library, which now includes the top-selling Mario Kart 8.

Speaking of the Wii U, core gamers from the other brand are now less likely to pick on the little Wii U that could, seeing it and its fanbase as part of the core gaming family.... much more-so than the original Wii and its army of shovelware titles.
_1401822682.jpg

I'm guessing a lot of that has to do with the fact that Monolith Soft's 'X' looks better than anything coming to the Xbox One and PS4 right now, and that Mario Kart 8 is so much fun that I'm sure there are grown adults out there who think that the multiplayer is more fun than trying to make babies.

That's not to mention that the Wii U is picking itself up in sales and making a comeback like Heather Dorniden in the U.S. 600 meter race. It's hard to keep a good console down when it's still selling more than the Xbox One and has more worthwhile games to play.

Moreover, the eighth-gen console crowd is proving that they are really all-in on adopting digital distribution. More than 83% of participants acknowledged that they download their games through their console, a 7% increase over last year's stats.

Even though 79% of gamers aren't interested in an Xbox One, I'm curious if that stat will change following E3? I mean, who knew that the Glorious PC Master Race was actually the odds on favorite after all?

Good to hear the Tropico series is having so much success. After my love for Banished I have decided I would like to pick it up at one point.

Yo GAF this game is kickass
header_292x136.jpg

Fast paced mecha action with some generic animu characters, wish I could play as Daniel, dude is cool.

I might set the blade weapon to a shoulder button since I can't mash the melee and guns at the same time to save my ass haha.

I was so confused reading that, I thought it was an EA game in early access and my mind couldn't find where the problem was for a minute.

Haha, the acronym confusion is only going to get worse when EA actually does resume releasing games on Steam. ;)

4 classic heroes to choose from! John Strong, the world’s least-known most-dangerous man. Macmillan, his best friend and comrade in arms. Miller, a slightly scary Australian man with a nice jacket and an even nicer sawn-off shotgun. And then there’s Bionic Cop. He thinks he’s a Cop. He isn’t. He thinks he’s a robot. He’s not. But the same delirium that fuels his power fantasy seems to imbue him with, well, some real power.

I think I've just found my favorite character.

Thanks Knurek. Not having health insurance at my current job is kind of bleeding me dry. I'm also losing my house, and the price of rent in this area has gone up about 50% since I moved here 5 years ago.

Thankfully, I have about 20 years experience doing what I do
in addition to my work with Enhanced Steam,
so I'm sure I'll find something soon enough, even if it's a shit job doing like... financial software or something.

Just picked up the Art of Watch_Dogs and it could have been a different story with regards to Aiden's attire. In some of the earlier character concepts his didn't have his "Iconic Hat™" at all.

Choosing between GOG and Steam is always one of the least favorite gaming decisions of mine, lol. I know tons of people don't give it a second thought, but I just hate picking when a new game is released both places.

New games I almost always get on Steam, just because the client makes my library easier to browse and manage. But for legacy titles 8+ years old I stick with gog since they generally put a lot more effort into ensuring compatibility, plus the goodies add value for older games I already know and love.

When was a season pass announced for Dark Souls 2?

Never heard of it before. Would've preferred one big expansion again but I guess I'll buy it once more info is out there.

EDIT: Just announced on twitter
Trailer and more info, it's called the Lost Crowns Trilogy

The Crown of the Sunken King - July 22, 2014
The Crown of the Old Iron King - August 26, 2014
The Crown of the Ivory King - September 24, 2014

I need the DLC included in the Scourge Ambrosia bundle, but there's little sense paying $3.49 for something that's $3.98 at full price.
