Showing your game once years ago, then never again since and dancing around its current existence without showing it is annoying as fuck.

They have said why they aren't necessarily showing things off now. And apparently it was shown to the press in 2011.

Just a nod at E3 would be fine... or some kind of acknowledgement outside of the sound bites we've gotten from interviews in the last 6 months or so. I think that the way that this is being handled is mostly due to cultural differences or something. I mean, how long was it before we got the word that Versus XIII became XV? :/

Microsoft is in a similar boat.

Both consoles will need to depend on third party titles this fall. I'd wager most exclusives shown this year at E3 will get released in 2016 at the earliest.

Yes and the last game Team ICO released was in 2005. Who knows what that developer is now in 2014. It's wrong to judge a developer on their prestige when it has been nearly a decade.

Team ICO isn't a real development studio, they are just a collection of people who work at SCE Japan Studio.

Basically this. It's a bunch of employees who also worked on the "Team ICO" games that get shuffled around for Japan Studio projects as well. (rain, Puppeteer, Knack, etc.)

I think they know they talked about it too early originally and now they're not going to talk about it at all until it's more or less ready. They're not going to put out a 'coming in two years!' type of teaser, again. And they probably don't want to talk about the PS3 version or what happened to it, until they have something else to promote in its place.

It'll probably show up again when it's like, 6-9 months from release. And then they'll explain away the PS3 version, if the game was shifted to PS4.

But I don't blame them for not wanting to talk about it again until a release plan is basically set in stone.

Seems like they are doing the right thing.

Is the issue that they announced it too early? I'm pretty sure everyone at Sony is aware of that and they probably don't want a repeat of that but their R&D is busy with PS5 and Project Morpheus and can't do a time machine at this stage.
