Wow, this thread, and I still need to get to sleep more now that Toonami's over...I have no idea how I'm going to sleep tonight thinking about what's going down Sunday overnight lol.

Druckmann's reaction tweet was right on after what they pulled last time smearing his (and Straley's) name.

So why did IGN post this news as a sure thing. I know IGN does iffy stuff sometimes, but I really don't see them posting this if they weren't sure of it. So fucking strange.

Oh well this whole TLG dev cycle has been one big mindfuck. Why not add some more insanity to the mix!

Ad revenue. Every website needs it, especially ign.

At the end of may: "I looked into this, and at this point we’re not providing any additional clarification beyond what we stated around the PS4 announcement. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to keep you posted."-Sony Rep to Kotaku
http://kotaku.com/sony-wont-answer-these-questions-about-ps4-drm-and-use-510477281

Shuhei Yoshida at the end of February: "At a roundtable this morning, Sony's game studios chief, Shuhei Yoshida, told reporters that any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers. Sony won't require that."

People kept picking apart these answers to force an agenda that simply wasn't true.
When Sony realized what MS is doing, they saw an opportunity to blow minds at E3 and they took it. all im saying is that they could have done it again with TLG but chose not to, which makes me think we wont see TLG at E3. thats it.

The best way to discard the rumor that your game has been cancelled is to just make sure that you show *some* footage every year, or heck, every other two years.

Come on Sony, just show something, if this is just a false rumor. Oh, you cant? I see. I bet it is "not ready" for E3 either. Nor will it be ready for TGS. Too soon!

what are you talking about? it was just an example.

I missed part of the conversation. Anywho, the fact that they commented doesn't mean that it won't be shown. Even if they hadn't commented on DRM (they did), that doesn't mean anything is certain this time around. Using a false premise to reach your unfounded conclusion isn't helping either.

If they had done that, it would have given away the secret that it moved to PS4.

Fair enough. You're probably right but the way IGN were pushing the "official" wording could also be why they had to react before it spreads like wildfire.

My question in regards to Last Guardian always comes back to gameplay. Yes, the trailer looked cool, and it might have had some sort of big vs small vs rage timer type mechanic, but I have a feeling the delay/cancelation/whatever had more to do with the game just being a cute concept, with no real direction for the gameplay.

If it is dead, there probably is good reason for it to be. I just hope that instead of letting it drift away along with out hopes for this game's release, they help us close this chapter in gaming history and give us a definitive reason of why they feel like it is not worthy of release.

I would rather know that Sony felt that it was not up to par.

Low clickbait from IGN?

"Game is cancelled, insider source bros. Now here is some fodder information to fill up this article about TLG. Believe."

No fair, I go to bed and miss all the fun.

I'll piss myself if Sony closes the show with a trailer for TLG. After all this drama it'll bring the house down.

We need to realise that there wasn't time for Sony execs to sit down and discuss the ramifications of this so-called rumour. Everyone in charge for this are busy to their necks in LA preparing for E3

It could very well have been a Scott Rohde slip-up.

We know they have spend millions of pounds and half a decade making this game. We know the game was moved to PS4. We know that Fumito Ueda is under contract to finish The Last Guardian...

On what planet, would cancelling the game be a sound idea?

Wasn't sure whether to make a new thread or not, but IGN got the story from here:

http://www.worldsfactory.net/2014/06/07/rumor-the-last-guardian-cancelled#Xh10qdogHFAOhSUm.99

However, just two days before Sony’s E3 2014 press conference, two different tweets from Russian journalists Andrey Zagudaev and Petr Salnikov who work or used to work at GMBox.ru are hinting at a possible cancellation of the game.

the last guardian все, пацаны
— andtheniwaslikeYES (@proof_of_youth) June 7, 2014

Есть легитимный слух, что The Last Guardian отменен.
— Peter Salnikoff (@blessmepadre) June 7, 2014

The first one simply says
The Last Guardian is over, boys

While the other is a bit more elaborate:
There is a legitimate rumor that The Last Guardian has been canceled.

It was posted about a day earlier than the IGN story and cites a couple of Russian journalists. IGN have palmed off the story to their Russian office in the updated version as well so it is highly likely they made up their "source/report" and just regurgitated what was on this place.

Well, being in limbo does not necessarily help the game's image, does it?

The best way to reunveil this game is with a sure release date appended to it. Not a hype trailer with a fall of 2015 announcement or something like that. That limits Sony as they must reveal it only when they have absolute certainty of that date. And personally I think that release date will be close to the reveal announcement for great effect.

Man, finally caught up with the thread. I see USGAF has been having a great time whilst we've been asleep. E3 is going to be epic. As for IGN....

Last thing I heard before going to bed last night was the garnett on games podcast talking about this game.
