I loled so hard at work right now xD

Holy shit. Amazing trailer. Kojima does it again!

The song choice was great, and the game looks brutal as hell. The cinematography is also pretty damn fantastic.

Decent trailer, still have no idea what's going on. But then again, if I had a clue WTF was happening, it wouldn't be an MGS (or Kojima) game!

I can't place that line, it's confusing why that ever gets said when Big Boss is already wearing the insignia.

Yeah! My guess is that Ocelot rescues Snake, puts him in Diamond Dogs gear, takes him to Afghanistan to rescue Miller... And then Miller, seeing Big Boss for the first time in nine years, says it on the way back to base? Maybe?!

As someone who's never played any of the Big Boss-centric Metal Gears (3, AC!D, Peace Walker), is a lot of the Phantom Pain just going to sail over my head?

The last MGS game I played was 2. In Ground Zeroes, they have a backstory you can read, and all of Paz's tapes from the previous game so you can get caught up. If you don't mind spending 45 minutes reading and listening to journal entries before you start playing that is.

I hope that Kiefer Sutherland did the body motion capture for big boss this time. According to the credits some random guy named Erik Brown did the body motion capture in GZ and there was a bit of a disconnect between the body mannerisms and facial animation imo.

Hot damn. Really need to finish Peace Walker so I can play Ground Zeroes.

Looks great for a cross gen game.

The older games are silly though. great gameplay, very fun games but the ridiculous character names and dialogue, terrible melodramatic scipts and god awful voice acting.

It doesn't stop the games being fun but i'd much rather a more serious and 'professional' tone with the modern games.
I don't mind a serious toned game but the level of violence goes to far and it is influenced by the casual gamers desire for extreme violence and it is a shame. I hope there is an option to tone it down, but it probably won't.

Nah he doesn't do the motion capture, they're motion capturing in Japan and recording dialogue in L.A. I think there was pictures of the guys doing the ambulance crash scene or something.

Indeed it is.

It's been weird to see Kojima retcon the look of the early Metal Gears, since it's really difficult to imagine how the TX-55 would have been borne out of stuff like Peace Walker, ZEKE, and now this Rex prototype.

I would think the old designs would just be updated instead of trying to fit those models into today's MG games.

I'm not sure if it'll be gratuitous violence/violence for violence sake. Even on a gameplay level, Kojima has always rewarded pacifistic approaches over run and gun. If he has ramped up the violence, it is almost certainly to make a point.

Would someone be so kind as to host a download link for the English trailer in 1080p? Preferably PM me a copy too, I don't get home for another hour or two.

Hasn't the "Bird picking at a human corpse" thing been done to death in video game trailers?

I feel like I've seen it a lot over the years.

That's strange that they're using western actors for body motion capture even though the game is being made in Japan.
That sucks.

I feel so far behind the Big Biss story, I only played the Solid Snake led games

I really recommend playing MGS3 but here's a quick primer
MGS3 -
Big Boss loses faith in the US and goes rogue.

Portable Ops -
Big Boss gains the funds to start his own mercenary outfit

Peace Walker -
Big Boss builds his private army and becomes a force to be reckoned with

Ground Zereos of course is part of MGSV so you'd need to play that or know what happens in it before going into The Phantom Pain.

I can't believe this is still coming to last gen consoles.. Well.. Great I guess.. More people get to play it but at the same time it seems like it's holding the game back.
For the record I don't own a next gen console yet but even still I am kinda disappointed in this.

The 30 second tease the other day was better than this by virtue of actually having gameplay. Song sounded like something King Crimson from the early 70's. I hate Kiefer as Snake. I can't wait for this game.

Those are my thoughts for now :p.

Might be a silly thought, but changing their ashes to diamond, taking them into battle and lots of shiny blades... maybe they made diamond edged knives from their comrades!

Damn I want that to be done to me.

It's a much more ethical kind of diamond than the usual ones mined in Africa, no?

Well it doesn't involve using children/slaves to mine them for one, there aren't wars being fought over them, and I'm fairly certain diamonds made from peoples ashes simply aren't worth as much monetary wise. They are more for sentimental value.

So the shrapnel in his head probably IS diamond, diamond from the ashes of his fallen soldiers, right?

I don't think so, it doesn't look much like a diamond and appears to be a piece of shrapnel from something else. You might be right though, who knows at this point.
