Who knows. Sony is coasting the wave right now since they really don't have to announce anything. Pretty sure there's still 15 or so announced titles in the works.

TGS and Gamescom should have some bommaz too. Honestly, with Japan's move away from consoles, saving TLG for TGS might be a smart move and why we got the shaft again. Got to get them to buy in somehow.

TGS might be incredible if we get TLG, Bloodborne gameplay, FF15, KH3 and
Persona 5 cross gen announcement please
.

#Believe right?

For better or worse U4 is going to make the Xbox One look like a joke. At some point in time I really wish Microsoft would have taken a look at what was happening around them.

Even if they fall short of this fidelity at those stats, what they come up with will be near the top-tier of what's out there when they release. I think that's a reasonable assumption. Them having this running real-time is a good start, even if busier scenes require some concessions. Art and artistry can thankfully account for a lot of shortcomings in technology.

One thing to keep in mind; so far Sony hasn't missed a target with ANY of it's 1st party titles.

KZSF, Knack, Driveclub, ISS... they were all shown earlier in various incomplete stages of development and each was shipped looking and playing much better than their initial reveals. (Driveclub/Evo are gods of pulling this off even since last gen).

Track record so far is very good.

I don't see ND backed up by TeamICE being the one to break it. No way. Not gonna happen.

it is usually AAA games the ones with great facial animation, it is not something one sees in PC games.

Yeah. Nowadays it's more about how much you have talent and money at your disposal than about pure horsepower when it comes to graphics. There is jsut so much that you can do even with these this gen consoles. That is why I think consoles are going keep up with PCs in terms of graphics for sometime. No PC developers have the amount of money (well Valve and Blizzard have but they target low end hardware) to pour in the their games as first party studios at MS and Sony.

Well, in the end that may be the case but for now xbone does have its fair share of really great looking exclusives namely Quantum Break which may turn out to be a more apples to apples comparison for UC4.

Holy fucking shit!

(Alright, calm down. Take a breath)

And to think that the ICE team is right there, ready to share the technology with Sony's other studios.

Also, holy fucking shit!

CR Projekt RED and Crytek will always be there to push the envelope. It won't be long until 10 TF cards are on the market and those will rape anything I'll ever see on my PS4. It's great to see the care and expertise of Naughty Dog used to such great effect, but there's only so much you can do to compete with newer and better technology.

Isn't it a bit weird though still that they chose "Captured directly from a PS4" as their wording over "realtime" or "in game"? I mean realtime sounds a LOT more impressive and their wording was vague
If we weren't so used to companies trying to pull the wool over our eyes, that statement would've being enough.

I am playing through Uncharted 1 right now and I cannot believe how different UC1 scenes look compared to that. They look downright awful now when you compare them with that insane gif. I have never seen such lifelike fidelity in a video game before. But I'm only ever a console gamer. Are there PC games that have done this?

As i said in the other thread, in-engine i believe, Last of Us and Uncharted also had insane looking (pre-rendered) in-engine cutscenes.
in game? Meaning the actual graphic fidelity of when you walk and shoot around? I don't believe it, especially not at 60 fps.

You have Driveclub that can't even get 60 fps 1080p with those graphics, and i should believe that Uncharted 4 is completely real time and at 60 fps? I know Naughty Dogs are some of the best at creating good graphics, but c'mon.

I'll remain skeptical until i actually see the game being played, and i'll be happy to eat crow (infact, i HOPE to eat crow).

Amazing if true. But there is no way it will look that good in the final game when fighting a dozen enemies with explosions and particles filling the screen, at 1080p.

Nothing will ever be good enough for you. If it is then you will find something else not to like. It's useless trying to satisfy people with this mindset. If it drops 5 frames you'll take a hatchet to it and claim you were right I suppose?

Word. It's frustrating when gamers bring their cynicism to everything in life. But who can blame sometimes when so many devs are dog.

Wasnt Driveclub similarly received? Granted we dont have the game out yet, but it is looking as good as its initial reveal I believe.

Well, whichever way it is said it should really conclude the same thing, but people are so sceptical.

I really don't think it would. People would still be in disbelief. Plus ND did it themselves with TLOU

They could but they could not too. Don't get me wrong I really do hope it looks like that, the wording just feels off

In engine, in real-time, in 1080p/60fps... true.

However, this was not "in game", as that term implies that it's actual gameplay, no? What we saw was a real-time, in-engine cutscene. It may not be indicative/representative of what the actual gameplay will end up looking like. It's like comparing the cutscenes of The Last of Us to the in-game stuff, which didn't look quite as good (it looked excellent, but there was still a slight quality gap).

Regardless, that footage as an actual cutscene is amazing, and sets a new standard for what's possible this generation.

is there really a need for that in here? for better or worse HALO 5 will sell double of uncharted 4 and regardless of which game looks better at the end of the day this is a business, each console has their strengths, i see no point of calling one over the other one

weirdly the colour corrected version made it more believable for me

[edit] when you take into account that this is what an in-game, open-world, third person character model from a series that has never exactly been famed for the quality of their face modelling is like, now:

then drake at 1080p60, from a studio known for the quality of their characters, suddenly seems very plausible to me

AC3 had damn good faces, inside the Animus.
outside the Animus, IIRC was done by a secondary team as a rush job and that's why it looked like dog shit.

I'm really impressed with the facial animations. Normally I get the uncanny valley with these closer to real life looking models.

But here for some reason, none of that. It's very good.

I think it's mainly due to Naughty Dog's fantastic sense of art style. With the Uncharted series specifically, they tend to skew their character models towards a realistic, but still slightly stylized look that just simply works to avoid such an issue.

Ryse might be the best looking next gen game out right now... and it's on Xbox One

I have to disagree man. If you look at nothing but the what you see it still didn't impress me and I watched and played a fair amount to make a claim. It did look great but it is not at all what I consider amazing in the least.

Of course not, they are probably going to have very high quality models and other assets specifically for cutscenes while everything in game will have lower quality assets.

Driveclub is going to be a game 2.5-3 years in the works. It was started before PS4 was finalized and had a bit of dev hell.

You're not impressed with the improvements they've made in a years time? In the end it's still a launch game, and we know how those go looking back at launch histories.

People are saying Driveclub 13 to Driveclub 14 is like a day / night change.

You mean "franchise" not "console".

you do understand what real time is right?

Why not? The more we get into this gen the worse it is going to be. As if I wanted Microsoft to do this. They should have been balls to the wall, engineering something that was fatter, bigger, and more powerful than the PS4. And all they wanted was a mass audience for Kinect. It's terrible imo. It will ruin them this gen. I hope they come back fighting but I have my doubts they even want to be here sometimes.

Misterxmedia on suicide watch?

This is fucking crazy. Naughty Dog are really the masters of engines and development. I don't think any other company can do what they can with such a hardware. And people were saying that PS4 games had already hit their limit.

there is no way Nathan will look THIS detailed during actual gameplay.

Naughty Dogs DID switch to higher quality models/textures for the cutscenes in The Last Of Us, so there is reason to believe that this would be his "high-quality cutscene model", unless they state otherwise.

Unless Naughty Dogs developed some sort of god-like tessellation, I'd venture it'd be hard for them to maintain that level of quality for more than just a handful of character models during cutscenes, while they turn off tessellation for gameplay or scale back to "lower-poly playable-models" like in The Last Of Us.

People should relax with PS4 is a beast. The reality is what the truth has always been. Naughty dog is a beast and a very talented team. They could make the Wii U sing songs. Imagine the possibilities if they were to develop exclusively on PC.
