Mini-PokéBOMB: Mega Sableye Revealed at E3

One of my favorite Gen 3 'mons... ruined. I guess it's kinda cool, but now I'll have no reason to use normal Sableye anymore. It's like Electivire all over again. </3

I really hope they don't go oveboard with these Megas, PLEASE save some pokes for legit evolutions next gen!

That said, Sableye looks great :p Neat design

Also this reminds me that I got pretty much zero mega stones. I finished X and just stopped playing once the Friend Safari got boring =/

I like the large gem idea.

Waiting for Mega Milotic or Mega Metagross now.

Or for the trolling moment of the century, a Mega Shedinja

I can see it getting some ability that complements the "no weaknesses" gimmick, so either something that voids his Fairy Weakness or Wonder Guard.

Fuck that shit

Dude needs a straight up evolution to turn him into the awesome fucking snake monster he ought to be

I'm envisioning a buffed up Zygard like twice the size with a goofy face and some wings

Dunsparce needs to evolve into a Normal/Dragon. It has to happen.

Mega Sableye uses the jewel as a powerful defensive tool in battle. From behind the shelter of the jewel, it can readily exploit the opponent’s weaknesses and take advantage of any openings. It is said that the jewel hardens into such strength that no attack can even make a scratch!

Mega Evolutions are stupid and wasted potential, in my opinion. Why not make real evolutions instead?

I really can't get over it...

Yup. Makes sense for things that have 3 stages already (starters etc) but just seems like a cop-out for others. I guess they don't want to add evolutions into a new regions pokédex any more.

Because a lot of the time, you can't? Because it adds a different element of strategy? Because they can do stuff like this where that add new content to remakes?

Does this thing still have Prankster? Its mediocre stats were the one thing holding it back in Gen5 and I'm assuming those will get a sizable bump with the MegaEvo.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
These new Mega Evolutions will be patched into X/Y right?

Uh, because due to the one Mega Evo a battle limit they can make megas a lot stronger than they can a normal evo for non-pseudos?

Mega Evolution is a very strategic thing. From the outside, you may think "What's the point?", but when you're in battles, you have to think and plan. "Is the Mega Evolution worth sacrificing the Life Orb/Choice Band?" "Will the boost be worth it?" "Can the type change/ability change be brilliant?" Then you have to figure out WHEN to do it, and psych your opponents out.

I love Mega Evolutions and I'm glad they're here to stay. The +100 stat boost for each Mega Evolution can really change how you use them.

Awesome. I love Mega Evolutions. Now give me Mega Castform. And fix that shit that Charizard is the only starter who gets two forms.

Oh, don't worry. I'm sure we'll get another Mega Blaziken soon. Then they'll there'll be two!
Alternate Mega Heracross, please, Game Freak. ;_;

Sableye is one of my favorite anti-meta Pokemon. It disrupts so many strategies with Prankster and various status ailments. As long as it gets a defensive boost and keeps Prankster, I'm sold.

Why aren't they releasing Sugimori art for this and the other starter Megas? The Famitsu scans are lousy quality, I want clean high-res art!

That looks pretty cool; I was kinda bummed when he didn't get on in XY after Mawhile did. I wonder what ability/type changes it'll have.

Hopefully on the 15th when Corocoro goes on sale (or whatever date it is this moth).

Sorry, but that doesn't make sense to me at all. They still need to design those Mega Evolutions, just like you would design a normal Pokemon. Mega Evolutions are essentially a new evolution and the only thing that differentiate them from other evolutions, is the fact, that they aren't permanent.

Because it adds a different element of strategy?

Same thing could be achieved, with adding real evolutions.

Because they can do stuff like this where that add new content to remakes?

How is adding Mega Evolutions new content and real evolutions not? Same thing...

Uh, because due to the one Mega Evo a battle limit they can make megas a lot stronger than they can a normal evo for non-pseudos?

Which is sad and a cheap way to win battles easy, in my opinion. Completely depends on the teams, though, just like a normal battle.

CoroCoro is due out on Friday and had them. Chances are they'll come Friday. They staggered these things out last year, too.

June 11th: Noivern & Vivillon with some game announcements such as Fairy-type
Later June 11th: Talonflame, Skrelp & Clauncher, Sky Battles & Horde Battles
June 14th: Litleo, Flabébé, Spewpa, Scatterbug, Rivals & Gym Leader Viola

Did it in August with Mega Evolution reveal, too

August 8th: Dedenne, Bunnelby, Mega Lucario, Mega Blaziken & Mega Mewtwo Y
August 10th: Mega Kangaskhan
August 11th: Mega Mawile, Mega Ampharos, Mega Absol

Thank you. May I please have the link to the Japanese site?

Same thing could be achieved, with adding real evolutions.

Not really as the strategy changes on the fly.

I am super hyped!!!! I freaking love my Sableye, as it has wiped entire teams by itself before. If the Mega version still has the same typing and Prankster stays as the ability, with the increased defenses that the video mentioned, I'm going to explode with joy! Seriously.

I just can't... =']

EDIT: My Goldeneye's rupee will only be worth 1. ;_;

Ah, nice to hear about the Sugimori art possibly coming out with Coro Coro on Friday. Hopefully we'll get additional Megas and then the whole lot of them will have super-high-res art released online.

Weird. I already use regular Sableye, Prankster Sableye is pretty awesome in the current VGC format. Wonder what the Mega brings to the table, going to be really hard to pick that over Safety Goggles and eating up my one mega slot.

Pretty sure, the strategy in Pokemon battles always changes on the fly.

Ok. Say you have a Gengar out which has Gengarite attached.

You're thinking "Should I Mega Evolve and leave myself vulnerable to Ground-type attacks but get a huge stat boost, or should I wait and see how this opponent works?"

Things like that. Nobody just Mega Evolves on the first turn anymore unless that's part of their strategy.

The digital instruments for the 3DS games are horrendous. The main theme actually sounds horrendous now.

Same thing could be achieved, with adding real evolutions.

Strategy wise, Mega Evolutions bring something to the table real evolutions could never achieve.

Mega Pinsir - "Should I Mega Evolve now, or should I try to get a Moxie boost first."

Mega Kangaskhan - Sometimes, you have to decide whether or not to hold off so you can hit a ghost type switch in via scrappy.

I could write something like this for the majority of Mega Evolutions.

It's like you're purposely not understanding what we're saying. It's been explained what Megas can do that evolutions can't multiple times in this thread.

Is that what people do, when they disagree? Just call someone out, that they are "Purposely not understanding" and be done with it, eventhough I provided answers, why I don't like these things or why I think that you are wrong?

Okay, I get from where you are comming. Real evolutions could never achieve things like this, except in some rare situations, where Pokemon have abilties or attacks, that could replicate those things (changing stats or type of the Pokemon for example).

But yeah, Pokemon is a game, where the strategy always changes on the fly.

---

To wrap this up. I just don't like Mega Evolutions (and what they bring with them), because they don't make sense in the Pokemon universe to me and I really think, that it's wasted potential to make those instead of real evolutions or new Pokemon in general. X and Y was really disappointing to me, with the number of new Pokemon available.

Wow, very nice. Sableye is already pretty good, if it gets even a small boost in defenses and is still prankster, it will be awesome.

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
So long as its ability is still prankster I'll use this thing. If it's ability just boosts its defense or something (which I think is entirely possible given the giant gem it's hiding behind) then no thank you.
