Amiibos and Pokemon could be a very, very dangerous mix...
They should release those when the 3rd version of X and Y release lol.

I just hope these things can be scanned through the packaging because I can see myself buying two of each otherwise. And I've never been one of those DON'T OPEN IT people.
My MtG days put me off rarities, but at the same time I can't see them manufacturing as many Rosalinas as they do Marios. I just hope something with a $9.99 MSRP doesn't cost me $60 on Ebay.
When you use the Smash Bros. Mario amiibo in Smash Bros., it's able to do all of the different things designed for that game. When you take that amiibo and you use it in different games, it's not the Smash Bros. Mario, it's just a Mario. It's a more simple use for [amiibo functionality] but it's able to do those two things
This, Nintendo is incapable of having a decent crossover toyline.Nintendo know they're going to sell gazillions of these figures regardless of how practically useful they prove to be. I'd buy a bunch just to sit on a shelf.
Those 15$ will probably be translated to 15 ($20). Depending on the shipping cost I may import the figures instead of buying them here.
For every 3 you buy here you could buy 4 in the US.
IGN has an interview up:

it sounds like games will have specific versions of amiibo's, even while they are cross game compatible. a smash bros amiibo will come with certain abilities a non smash ambiibo would be missing.
Dear Best Buy Gamer Club Unlocked, please be kind and consider these games like you do the Skylanders Toys. $8-$12 for these will be very justifiable.
Why didn't they call it amiigo? Makes way more sense.
That makes their usefulness seem sorta shallow. Maybe that's what they are going for but I wonder how that will affect their ability to really take off if they don't do all that much.
Here is an idea. I remember Reggie saying MK8 is going to be the first game to use Amiibo. I assume Nintendo will use that aspect for promoting other games. Games that are to be released? Games like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker? Maybe they will sell or add an Amiibo Figurine of Captain Toad to a box set with a copy of the game. And when you use that Figurine in MK8 he'll be uploaded into the game not just that but with a wide range of data like having turnips and pickaxes as items. what do you guys think?
Yup.I want Hyrule warriors figurines now >_<
How would that work for balance I.e people who don't have that figure? Keep your expectations in check
So how do amiibos work again?
Also where can I preorder?
Why cant someone in this space make posable figures?
So you're saying this will be a huge success for Nintendo and that it could possibly be the key to making the Wii U a minor success rather than a failure?
Why cant someone in this space make posable figures?
Guys, GUYS. FIRE EMBLEM. CHESS SET. IT. CAN. WORK.
Nintendo needs to do the Pokemon series but the box contains a random Pokemon. Then you could get Shiny versions or maybe a exclusive Pokemon that is only available in toy form. Actually don't, I don't want PokeGaf bullying little kids and creeping out parents in the toy aisle's of America.
That'd be cool. Make them a bit smaller maybe to make them as cheap as possible. Make them blind bags. Make it so you scan them in you get the pokémon in the game with something special like an Amiibo exclusive attack or hold item. Make a chance you can get a shiny one. Profit.
Is it safe to assume these things are region-free? :/
All I need is Peach and Mario...ok maybe a few more...
I wonder why it took them this long to start this. They even made the Wii U controller with it in mind, I guess this stuff just takes forever to coordinate?
N.R.F.B
N.R.F.B!
Well, the first Skylanders blew up around a year before the Wii U came out. I don't know how long the turnaround on putting new things in the controller is for these guys, but I guess they put it in as a reaction to that. I'm just surprised it took two years to actually happen, I'd love to hear the story about that.I wonder if the built in NFC was thought of for other things then they went this way.
