Oh yeah, the rating; wasn't that demo segment kind of pre-rated? He made use of reflex mode a lot of time and it didn't really look like a S-run to me despite him playing very cool and entertaining.

We just contacted Konami and they told us that they would only release trailers/videos through youtube.

Big bummer, ugh.

Didn't people at E3 only see the same footage we have here? Because you can see as soon as he Fultons the POW, a guy spots him, the player misses the Reflex Mode shot, then the guy shouts and it's pretty much an immediate base-wide Alert with three more guys showing up to shoot you. Maybe it's just a scripted thing for this tightly controlled demo, I guess.

It's not exactly unrealistic, though. Guards calling in to HQ made sense in MGS2 because they were separated into small areas on the Tanker and Big Shell. Here, though, and same thing with Ground Zeroes, you've got a few dozen guys all patrolling within shouting distance of eachother. All it should take is one guy shouting 'CONTACT' for everyone in the area to come running.

That's what I was thinking too. Though I wonder how they'll handle enemies further into the level... The ones outside of shout distance.

Can I just mention so many of you seem to be overlooking?.... GUARD SHIFTS. Like real shifts. You can see where they sleep for fucks sake! That's awesome. Now just give the guards shootable radios (ala MGS2 & 3) so they need to call in when you're spotted.

Oh and LOL at the Camp Omega CP being the same CP in Mother Base. What'd Boss do, go back there and fulton him too?

Can anyone back me up here? I could've sworn someone mentioned very, very recently that guards now have to press an alarm to alert the whole base.

Yes, it was mentioned by a guy on Reddit and another guy here on Gaf (can't remember their names).

Seems they were wrong about it.

A lot of the voicework seems to be reused from GZ. Hope some of it's just temporary, especially that unless they point out it's the same guy or something. Even then it shouldn't be the same sound clips.

the foliage is worse howeve

Yeah for sure. A little disappointed in the foliage and the poor animation of it, the amount of pop-in and sometimes lack of polygonal detail on certain things.

Lighting is godlike though (the FOX engine really has an outstanding lighting engine) and textures, clothing and cloth physics are really nicely done for the most part.

The base building looks so cool too. I like the new direction of the game, just hope the boss battles are better than they were in MGS4 and I hope the story is better too.

There could be different alarms. Alarms to literally alert everyone... And then smaller scale alerts contained inside whatever outpost you're currently infiltrating. Only thing I can think of.

It seems like a weird thing for someone to get wrong. Unless they flat out imagined it lol

The guy on Reddit said:
-I noticed that the “alert” phase did not start IMMEDIATELY, right after he missed, the enemy seemed to have hit an alarm that he carried(?)

I think he just confused the guard reaching for his gun as going for a portable alarm/radio (to be fair, I definitely couldn't have posted such a detailed summary after only seeing the demo once).

I definitely seem to remember reading that the game would handle Alert phases differently depending on where you were in the world, though. Like if you were on a base full of guards it'd be pretty much immediate, whereas if you were spotted by a guard out in the wilderness he wouldn't be able to do a whole lot.

Nice to see the Work-in-progress PS4 version instead of the game running on a high-end PC like in the 2013 e3 gameplay trailer. Still a bit rough, but the game is a ways away. I'm sure everything will be smoothed out by the time it goes gold.

Weren't there enemies with radios in their hands in GZ? You could even shoot them

Yeah, but if you're spotted and don't kill the guard within seconds, the whole base goes on alert. I thought it as different in Phantom Pain, and in certain scenarios it may be, but we don't have definite confirmation that it has changed yet.

I'm only a little bit of the way through the gameplay so far but god damn does it look amazing. This is quickly becoming my most anticipated game with the gameplay we've been seeing and my recent playthrough of GZ.

The only thing that seems a little odd to me is the Fulton System..it's incredibly cool but what's the point of ever actually hiding bodies? It pretty much eliminates the worry of ever having a body discovered, especially with how oblivious the enemies seem to be about a bunch of people randomly flying up into the air.

Snake's little backpack looks even more detailed now. Also looks like the terrain changed a bit, more trees.

It's pretty much the same. One is a bullshot the other is a screencap from a live stream. Notice the weather is different too. And it could be any time of the day.

So they still record and change the same lines?

Ocelot compared to the E3 2013 trailer says that line: "that's how Kaz would want it" a bit different than in the new video, better if you ask me but do they still record the same lines over and over again? jesus this game will never come out. but i have to say the new version sounds way more fitting, it's more down and not over acted.

Nope, I screencapped this "bullshot" from the E3 2013 trailer.

I think the yellow filter looking thing is just different time

these are both from today's demo, the first one is early part of the cutscene and the 2nd is the later part.

This is going to be fucking incredible. I skipped so many Metal Gears, though. All portable titles, and Ground Zeroes (because short).

Should I get my hands on those in prep for this?

They cut out scenes from the E3 2013 trailer. What you're seeing now is pretty much the final scene.

I didn't pay much attention to the first few seconds but does he say "It's not just them, the whole world wants you dead" in the new footage?

You could easily check that by comparing where the shadows fall in both trailers.

PW and GZ are worth looking into. Both are important to TTP's story, but I think both will provide insight into TTP's structure and mechanics: PW is almost a prototype for TTP and may give you a basic idea of the structure (outside of the open-world stuff. I mean Base Management stuff, Side OPs stuff, maybe the Co-op play etc.). GZ will give you an idea of the fundamental mechanics and open world. I think both are really good, but others may disagree.

Skip the portables. If you enjoy very well done mechanics, you'll have a blast with GZ. I have roughly fifteen hours into it, it's that fun to mess with. I gotta go back now that this has come out. You could just YouTube the story bits up till now if you want to. Seriously. Get GZ.

I honestly wouldn't make too much out of it one way or the other. The mission is titled "THE PHANTOM PAIN (E3 Version)," so I'm sure that there were some adjustments made to the scene. And no, that line was not heard in this presentation, though it was impossible to hear Ocelot for about five-ten seconds when Kojima-san was talking!

That's incredibly stupid.
Yeah let's not release any 60fps footage, that might get more people excited for ur game.

The game doesn't even has a release date, they are obviously still very far from a finished product, and a LOT can change until then. It actually makes no sense to deliver a direct feed of something that doesn't represent the final product.

Yeah i know, i wouldn't say it's final though.

I didn't hear it maybe he said it when Kojima and the others were laughing. Or he says it in the tutorial which they skipped.

Yet they let us see a crappy stream quality video?

First thing: since each fulton use requires money, I'm guessing we won't be able to use it infinitely until very late into the game or in the post-game.

Second thing: It can only be used outdoors, and weather conditions and time of day both change it's effectiveness. So while night-time, rain and sandstorms would all make sneaking easier, they'd also make fulton use prohibitive.
