Akio Otsuka. He has more range than Hayter and is very talented. He could voice both.

I said it since the beginning.

Big Boss = Kiefer Sutherland
Solid Snake = David Hayter

I'll just copy my post from the other thread.

Kojima pretty much confirmed Solid Snake in an interview last year.

Edit: and let's not forget this Shinkawa art Kojima teased.

Solid Snake is in the game 100% and not just as a 12 year old child, fans have been asking for Solid Snakes return for years, this is the time.

Solid Snake voiced by David Hayter

I really want to believe you.

To anyone who still think's that Hayter saying "Metal Gear V" instead of "Metal Gear Solid V" is meaningful, take a look at any of his past interviews. He has always referred to the games as Metal Gear games, and rarely includes the "Solid".

GAF logic dictates that this definitely means he's in MGSV.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

Yeah but if you watch the interviews, he always points to himself after he says the word "Gear." When he was typing that tweet, he had to use both his hands to type. Therefore, he couldn't have pointed to himself after writing Gear. Which tells us that he's in MGS5.

I would think that even the mildest fan would anticipate coming face to face with Solid Snake voiced by David Hayter at some point in this MGSV saga, denials be damned (as viral reverse psychology maketing).

Okay I found where it came from, so this is the story behind it:

http://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearso...d_hayter_states_again_that_he_is_not_in_mgsv/

Whatever you do, don't ask him why he posts cryptic tweets.
http://i.imgur.com/IYx3Ft9.png
He sent me this in a Direct Message, I did attempt to reply but he doesn't follow me so it wouldn't send. I then tweeted him I couldn't reply because he didnt follow me, at which point he started following me, and unfollowed me before I could send him my response.
Wasn't really what I was expecting,(I wasn't expect any response to be honest but this one kind of hit me hard) and while I understand he gets a hell of a lot of tweets about it (which would annoy the hell out of anyone if they been replaced with no warning doing a job they love.) He must also realise that the metal gear fanbase has to deal with Kojima and his twists and turns leading up to games releases and to many people no ammount of denying will ever change that.
But to deny his tweets are cryptic?

This seems strange, when he is the one posting them and must know they will kick up a fuss.
I personally don't think he is in MGSV and he really does seem quite bitter about it. But it shouldn't stop the fans having fun. I know each of these tweets must be like twisting a knife but they also show that someone cares about him and the characters he helped create, fewer people will if he responds to them like he did me.
I might tweet him this post so he can atleast read how I fell.
Edit - He has actually forced me to unfollow him, and twitter will not allow me to re-follow. wow.
What a load of bullshit, this is the first time ive ever tweeted him and all I said was "maybe you should stop posting seemingly crypic tweets then.".

Somebody get him to say the word "SOLID".

They should just hire him at cons to do the voice. Not everyone is going to remember Keifer Sutherland. Fans are going to remember the change as irritating them over actually making a large impact on the series. Nothing against Sutherland. It's like how CoD gets Kevin Spacey, no one is going to care that they went all Hollywood to get more sales. Hayter was born to do the role. End of story.

Hollywood feels like the place where everyone forgets what happened in the past or they have to fall big time in order to learn from their mistakes. Do you really want video games to fall in the same category?

I feel bad for him.

It's worse enough to get snuffed out of your job that you've had for a decade and a half, but to then have your fans speculating over it must suck.

Then add on to the fact that Kojima has made his whole fanbase paranoid consperitards who will try to dissect fucking lens flairs, and well, this is what you get.

Also, he has always had a habit of leaving our "Solid" when addressing the MGS series, so that's not a hint.

Something tells me Hayter's just as upset over this that the fans are. But it's not like he can go all "Yeah wtf Kojima why am I not snake?!"

So he has to bottle it all up inside :(.

He needs to calm the fuck down. I love Hayter but I really don't understand why he would be mad that so many fans cling to the hope that he might, one day, return to his role. It just goes to show that he really has a lot of fans who appreciate his work and are sad he's not on board for the next game.

What's so wrong about that? The least he could do is show some appreciation for that instead of turning aggressive on those who support him.

Still think changing VAs might be a necessity, if they are thinking of remaking the first two games. Snake can't be talking to himself. But since Kojima says this is his last (like he always does, lol) it makes even more sense. Why pay more for a guy you know will annoy the majority of the fanbase, and who barely talks at all? He could have gone with Doyle, for instance.

All of Kojima's excuses are bullshit cause of the simple fact that Otsuka is still reprising his role. No VA or Facial Motion Capture or Age matching voice bs. He either couldn't say no the the possibility of having a hollywood actor in his game or had a major falling out with Hayter. Considering most of Hayter's complaints about the past scripts are valid, I would say it's more the former which is a shame.

I don't believe he will be in MGS V, but I'm keeping my hopes up for the inevitable remake. Just hope Hayter didn't burn all the bridges he had with Kojima after this.

It will be one of the greatest gaming moments ever. Imagine seeing someone from behind he's wearing a bandana, people already cheering like crazy, he turns around, a little text pops up saying:

"Solid Snake - David Hayter"

and then you hear "Kept you waiting huh?"

People would freak the fuck out!

Wouldn't Snake only be 12 (if I did my math right) during the events of Phantom Pain?

a timeskip could happen.

Why would he go through all that trouble to set up "one of the greatest gaming moments ever" and not also do the same thing in Japan? Isn't the Japanese voice actor super famous/loved? You'd think that plan would have even MORE potential there. The fact that the Japanese VA is the same eliminates almost all of the theories, in my opinion.

I saw the post on /r/metalgearsolid, and I can't really say I blame Hayter too much. Apparently the dude this was directed to had messaged Hayter about why his posts regarding the replacement have always been so cryptic, so Hayter PM'd him back with this. I already dislike when people post a private message like this on the internet in order to make someone look bad, but come on guys, I think he has a right to be annoyed. First Kojima/Konami replaces him without so much as a phone call, then he repeatedly (and fairly clearly) denies having any involvement in the game while expressing how much it meant to him, and yet he still gets tons of people reminding him that he's been replaced every single day, refusing to believe him when he says he's not. And now people are probably going to get mad at Hayter because of this picture, even though I think he has every right to be a little ticked off.

I honestly think Hayter has been a good sport considering how all this went down. He's poked fun at it at the beginning and repeatedly said how much he appreciates the fans for wanting him back. However, it's been over a year now, so I think all the constant reminders and questioning of what he says may be (understandably) getting to him, especially when you take into account how much the guy seems to love the role and series.

David hayter just doesn't have the range and nuance, I mean look at how vibrant and dynamic kiefers performance has been thus far.....

That was sarcasm hayter at his shclockiest simply destroys the boring lifeless phoned in performance we've heard from Kiefer. Not even close. Hayter is iconic. If they really did drop him it's the worst decision they've made regarding the series.

or his father Chikao Ōtsuka is voicing Big Boss later on just like they did with MGS4.

Eh. Hayter was good in the first Solid. In MGS3 he sounded like a guy trying to parody Snake's voice. But that might just be bad direction.
