The Kiseki / Trails (of the Sky/Zero/Ao/Sen/Etc) Community Thread: SPOILERTAGS OR DIE

I was really struggling to maintain interest in Sen for the longest time. I mean, that should be obvious considering I've dragged my game out from September until now. But starting in chapter 3, the game really started picking up. And now I'm in chapter 4 and still feeling pretty good about it. I just wish the game could have been less unappealing from the start. The school life stuff is really played out at this point. I'm really glad it becomes de-emphasized later on in Sen, at least as far as I am right now.

I really hope that Sen 2 drops it completely.

I'm pretty sure it's gone completely given the events that transpire. Plus magazine articles have also been showing that your base of operations will be the Courage, where some of your other classmates will be staying as well.

School setting is unlikely to be back for plot reasons but I didn't mind it Sen myself. I actually felt that it did the campus aspect better than P3/P4 as there's a real sense of time progression in the game. The side characters are all doing different things and have their little story lines I mean not just the main characters but like everyone had their ltitle thing going on.

It also made the most sense as a plot device when you look at what's going on in the game. Consistent and logical reasoning as always.

Got it.

Sexy. I ended up going digital on this one so I don't get tempted to sell it back if I need extra funds or something.

No freezes so far either!

I hate buying digital so I avoid it when I can. Plus, makes it easier to loan the game to someone that's interested.

I went through a semi-poor spell so I'm a bit behind on collecty things. I never got around to buying SC or 3rd HD on PS3. Plus I somehow lost my Zero Evo cart... I still have no idea where it could be. I'll probably have to rebuy it at some point down the road.

One of the things about Sen no Kiseki that is continually driving me nuts is how occasionally there are active voice clips that keep you from being able to interact with stuff on the field while they're playing. Like you can't open a chest while they're playing, or operate a switch. Why don't you just stop the action and force me to go through the stupid dialog boxes at that point?

Worst part about those voice clips is that they aren't even important.

I haven't bought any of the PS3 Sora games, but I really want to. From what I've seen online they look great.

Pretty excited to play Sen no Kiseki 1 and 2 in Korean. Against my better judgment, and Aeana's advisement, I will go with the Vita version. Cuz I'm dumb like that. =D

So... hows the soundtrack rearrangement of AoEvo? Unfortunately won't be picking atm due to a backlog. Like what I heard from the talk show and from playing the demo.

As someone who wasn't pleased with Zero Evo's arrangements, I'm really happy with Ao's. I still would have preferred an option for both, but in the very least, the tracks this time around have been mostly great (a few duds here and there).

It seems that in this week's Famitsu (or Dengeki, it remains unclear), Akatsuki no Kiseki has been announced. But... it's an online game? I haven't made a thread yet since I'd like to get at least one more source first.

I really want to play my Ao Evo but I also want to stream it too. D=

Wish I had a Vita TV right about now, lol.

As someone who played Zero and Sora out of order, now I finally get to Ao, I have to say Falcom are gods.
The events in chapter 2 have me grinning like the Cheshire Cat the entire time. And judging by the previous games, you know chapter 2 is just the tip of the iceberg. And the voices. Oh, the voices!
Olivier~~~~~~!!!

I'm really happy you went back to the Sora trilogy before moving on to Ao. Now you can get the full impact of its glory. =P

I played Sen and Zero out of order so I was surprised the events of chapter 2 happened so soon into Ao. Now I am really excited to see the rest of that iceberg.

The voices in the two evo games have spoiled me. I feel like I am going to be a little disappointed when Sen II comes out. =/

I'm thinking of getting the Korean version of Sen no Kiseki since it came out this week. Question is, should I get the Vita or PS3 version? Are they graphically the same? I read some stuff about Vita loading time issues, but that the JP version was patched.

Does the Vita patch make loading times better? And (it's a longshot), but does anyone know if the Korean/Chinese versions of the game shipped with the patch?

The Vita version is currently MUCH better than it was before, but unless portability is something you want, PS3 is the superior version from what I gather.

For me, portability is an absolute must, so I regret nothing.

Much better, but still has slowdowns in most custscenes. :(

PS3 version runs pretty much perfectly as I recall but the Vita should be fine with the patch so you get added portability.

So, is the steam thing still happening? I've been holding back on buying in and waiting for the steam release, but everytime I hear the games brought up I feel the urge to buy the first on PSN and play it on my Vita.

I could just import, but I feel like my Japanese is probably not up to scratch for such a text heavy series.

Apparently Sara, their programmer, is more or less going at this alone since Falcom no longer has any PC programmers on the team that could possibly help with knowledge of the inner workings of the game. Finding out that this game doesn't actually use Ys engine must have been a really nasty surprise, but hopefully Sara is at least picking up new tricks for her toolbox in the process.

How big is Falcom?

It's still happening, it's just taking foreeeeeeverz.

Hmm... this game has social links - you mean similar to Persona? Having stronger links mean better combat mechanics via the link tactic system?

Social links as in just battle improvement mechanic - or like slightly romancey?

Very much still happening.

In fact, let's just say a corner's been turned, more or less.

Yeah. It improves their effectiveness as a team in this granting more bonuses when they're linked assuming you're playing sen no kiseki

I will buy FC and SC steam in a heartbeat whenever those show up. I've forgotten so much about the first game.

And then I hope there's a text file or something for the third game so I can import and at least follow along to some extent. I assume nothing like that exists at the moment? There's a functional text walkthrough on gamefaqs I suppose. This of course, looking a bit into the future since even SC seems like a long long way off.

Compare to FC/SC, Third has a very "different" take on the series. Honestly wouldn't worry about it for now.

Also happy 10th anniversary to Trails in the Sky (20th anniversary of the LoH II this year as well) . Surprise no one mentioned it here :p

Can't wait for the Steam release of FC. I stopped playing on my Vita because I couldn't take the PSP's poor resolution any longer. The sooner it releases in Steam, the sooner I can buy multiple full prices copies for gifting.

The only people crazy enough to translate any of the games in their spare time are doing absolutely hilarious stuff with Zero, so you'll need to hope FC and SC do well enough on Steam to convince XSEED that the PC releases are viable enough to continue with the series.

I don't need a direct translation, just kind of a general sense of what's going on, a summary. It still seems like a lost cause. Time to learn japanese. Why did I take French in high school.

Hey. We're friends, right? :p

the PC releases

That's more roadblock for XSEED, then.

AFAIK, Ao no Kiseki on PC was never released, despite Zero no Kiseki (but only in China IIRC). And from what I read around here, Falcom is involved in the localization's programming(?) or something.

I don't think the path for PC releases of the series on the west is clear.
