Now all they need to do is confirm the return of the best form of the contests and the battle frontier and this game will be GOTY.

I always put my secret base in that tree on that little island.

I had, like, 3 friends that kept erasing their bases in my game because they all used that tree. Personally, I used the one immediately to the left of Fortree in Ruby, and the one right by the Safari Zone in Emerald.

But Woo! I loved Secret Bases! I was disappointed in how irrelevant they were in DPPt, so I understood why they didn't bring them back, but now that they've returned, I'm hella hyped. Especially if we can get EXP for defeating friends' teams again; all my friends had 1-4 legendaries on their teams, so they were great for EXP farming.

That Glass Bird Ornament was also given in to the player in RSE for winning Contests. So...those confirmed as well?

Double Woo! Thanks, Detective GAF!

Yes, but did FRLG or HGSS have features taken out?

I never played FRLG. HGSS only edited one, to my knowledge, while adding a lot.
That said, it's been 4 years sinced HGSS, so people are looking towards the more current games as representations of what is going to be included.

I didn't say it was the most logical line of reasoning, just simply how it comes about. XY was very notably rushed, so there are concerns ORAS is as well.

XY didnt seem "notably rushed" also its been a notorious thing since Gen 3 that GF removes key features established in the previous games. So im not sure why you think its a current trend when Gen 3 removed the day/night cycle and Battle Tower then Gen 4 removed Battle Frontier, R/S/E contests, R/S/E contest traits which some evolutions were dependent on and the R/S/E secret bases.

The hell.

not having much post game content =/= rushed game. Otherwise a lot of pre-third version games are "rushed"

Or are you saying that the gen that removed KEY features (night day, locking out evos, etc.) is a progression?

I didn't play Gen 3. I have heard that it happened, but just that, so it didn't really come to mind.

The usage of portraits as opposed to a proper 3D model? The aforementioned lack of post-game content, which is worse than both DP as well as BW? The game's many notable technical flaws (granted DP had plenty, but they were all ironed out by platinum since they were given 2 years to fine-tune the engine), including the lack of 3D?
Now I'm concerned that since they are going onto the remakes as opposed to the third version, less time will be spent on the technical aspects of the game since more time needs to be spent re-imaging the Gen 3 content as opposed to time that could have been spent essentially re-doing XY.
Admittedly, Game Freak is in a bit of a panic to make sure the games see a yearly release, and I feel that it has a negative impact on quality.

I think they would have been better off first working on Z if they absolutely needed a release for this year, or to be given extra time to work on ORAS.

Then again, It's entirely possible that ORAS does work out some of the technical kinks, so it is a bit unfair for me to declare myself the arbiter on this. AFAIK, we haven't received any in-person impressions of the game, so other than the fact that 2D will again be absent in some sections, and that art closeups will still be used for the time being, we don't know of any technical changes, if they exist.

DP removed the battle frontier in favor of the battle tower. Pt established a new battle frontier. To say Gen 4 removed it is a bit disingenuous

Crystal introduced the battle tower and it was apart of the battle frontier in Emerald. When I say Gen 4, I mean the first entries since the later entries add a lot more content to the games. With the exception of Gen 5 and 2, most first entries into the generation were pretty poor in terms of post game content. Gen 5 removed certain things like Super Contests, Poke seals, pokemon following you around, pedometer functionality, the underground, etc. which were established in Gen 4.

My point is that most of the first entries into a generation lack post game content and other fun side features only to be reintroduced in the third versions and remakes. A practice GF has been famous for for well over 10 years now so to act like its a new thing exclusive to newer gens or just XY is disingenuous.

Excellent! Did not know I would want this feature again.

If you find base owners that you like, you can scout them as one of your Secret Pals and bring them back to your own Secret Base.
Secret salacious hookups!

OMFGGGGG This sounds WAYYYY more appealing to me than I thought it would be! Secret bases were cool back in RSE but only for a short distraction -- now that there's so much more you can do with them and share them with others online I am STOKED for them now.

HNNNNGH give it to me NOW. November whyyyyyyyy are you so far awayyyyyy?? ;~;

Yup, the amount of post game content in XY is pretty much on par with D/P. D/P gets a small edge for having new areas in the post game but X/Y also has the Looker quest which takes longer to complete than D/P's post game stuff and I'd also say the Battle Maison is much better than the D/P Battle Tower. R/S's post game was almost as bad as R/G/B

I suppose your right. Although I grew up with DP, which for the first version did have a bit more content than average with a large amount of legendary encounters and had the sub-continent.
I think the biggest problem is that XY is considerably easier, making the post-game content that exists a breeze to go through.
It's probably me just getting better though and skewing my perception

The looker quest felt really half-assed. Re-using the first floor of the lab, but now blocked off areas except to where you are supposed to go, left a bad taste in my mouth.

Or you playing with the EXP share on. XY isn't super hard with the EXP share off, but it is pretty comparable to previous games with it off and it is MUCH more fun to play than with it on.
XY Nuzlockes with the EXP share off are also pretty challenging.

I never played with the EXP Share on. The only exception was today for some level grinding for a lowbie.
One particular change that made the games easier is that they reduced the number of pokemon used by the gym leaders, starting with BW (B2W2 challenge mode alleviates this to a degree).

Wait a sec. Those are diagonally-oriented Pokedolls. Hopefully this applies to furniture, and by extension give the devs more freedom in designing secret base layouts.

It's pretty awesome that you can effectively create your own gym using secret bases.

Guess this is all we're probably getting in CoroCoro this week then, shame I wanted to see some more Mega Evolutions.

I wonder how many of those Pokemon will get Mega Evolutions...

Also seeing a Gen V Pokemon here is sort of weird.

Good speculation.

I hope Pusle and Minun gets different types added if they are going mega. That would make them more appealing to double battle whit, at least for me.

But there's no Metagross family member there, which would be a bummer for lots of people.

Litwick and Lapras looks like base decorations, but giving the megas as well would be cool.

Fairy Tale Girl's overworld model is atrocious.
Hope they fix it.

It's hilarious that most of the overworld sprites and battle sprites finally matched each other in Gens IV and V with only a few anomalies (even fewer in V) and then XY comes and a lot of the overworld models don't match the battle portraits.
