Sooo...pick-ups:

I haven't read much yet, but so far I'm enjoying The History of Mario.

The second TenNapel book arrived; for this one I asked for an Earthworm Jim doodle:

...and last but definitely not least, tickets to a very special match:

Deco's farewell match will have the two teams he won the Champions League with: Porto 2004 vs Barcelona 2006. Can't wait!

Latest additions to my collection.

Really happy with the cheap Kid Dracula, awesome game.

My first title for GCN, already played it a few years earlier and really liked it.

Some great additions to my NDS collection, can't wait to try Contact.

After reading a lot about the console and watching a few videos, I caved in and bought one. It looks amazing. Unfortunately I have no games so I can't try it out, hopefully I will find some decent titles soon.

Time to practice more traditional drawing and leave the digital/wacom tablet for a bit so I bought several stuff like ink for dip pens, nibs, a pen holder, erasers and paper :) Let's see how it goes.

Here is how my month has gone...

P3LNbCh.jpg

Yes, I am aware of Castlevania Judgment, however as a Castlevania fan, $7 for acceptable to me. I still haven't played it though. Punch-Out!! and Super Mario Galaxy 2 were the only games on here that weren't bargains, the rest were steals.

10TLT19.jpg

Don't know why I felt like I needed N3II. Blue Dragon I started playing again. Haven't become annoyed by it so far, but I remember not enjoying it the first time. That Phantasy Star is a sealed copy, and believe it or not, you can still get them on Amazon.com for under $10. At some point I'll open it, but I still am VMU-less. I don't even know how much single player content is on there anyway. Either way I wanted it in the collection. The N64 games are ones I loved when I was younger, and I don't know if I'm deluded by memories, but Shadows of the Empire is surprisingly still enjoyable and kinda holds up...? Got a clean, cheap copy of Zelda II cause I had the urge to play it. The Genesis games I got because they came super cheap with the Pokemon Blue, save Wonder Boy which I bought separate. Alex Kidd is my first Master System game. Guess I need a Master System... The two Wario games and Zelda were surprisingly cheap as well. Finally, I got the in box NES games from a friend who traded them and some cash for my Wii U so I could get...

p4ptUoT.jpg

A Wii U Deluxe. One of the refurbs, actually. It was driving me nuts having one white console in a sea of everything else around it being black. All in all it ended up costing me about $50 out of pocket to get it. Should have just went with the Deluxe in the first place! Also a Retron 5, thankfully purchased at retail price. Speaking of consoles...

4feWPo5.jpg

My retro consoles went from 0 to 5 in a month. Found a bunch of great deals which have lead me to getting consoles in better conditions than the ones I had. Well, except that PS1, but I bought that to get the three games from the previous picture, and figured it would be easier to play imports on that than on a PS2.

YUzppUK.jpg

Some non gaming stuff, only one vinyl this month. Panicked when I had to get some major car work done and cancelled my Tron soundtrack pre-order. Should not have done that. As for the rest, got DuckTales all at once with some Amazon bucks, and have been buying any other DVDs/Blu-Rays when it hovers around $10 on my wish lists.

fXyyUeG.jpg

lm9D53f.jpg

As for digital stuff, Wolfenstein, which I'm really enjoying, Shovel Knight, which is wish I bought on Wii U (rare that I say that...), and not gaming related but You Need a Budget which has actually been pretty awesome to have. On PSN, I took advantage of the 99 cent sale and picked up a few things.

Got TLoU art book from Amazon, which I've been wanting since before the game came out a year ago. Price is right on Amazon and with the remastered version coming out Tuesday, I figured it was about time. Same for the shirt, got it from a 4th of July sale on welovefine and just got it delivered today. Lastly is a Gamera 4 movie blu-ray collection. Saw it in one of those bargain bins at best buy for $6. It's the first four and I haven't seen a single film, so I decided why not. Even if it's the laziest remastering ever, it'll still Mt first time at $1.25 per film. Not a bad deal and a good pickup overall :)

Woohoo! The second part of my summer care package arrived today courtesy of nin-nin-game and Micchan's Japanese Game! :D

Sorry, no bikini picks this time, unless there are some of Yorda in the Limited Edition box.
If so, I'll post them later. ;)

I only ever had 2 ETG microfibers and I lost one, so thank god for this.

OUxIr3G.jpg

Samsung ATIV Book 2 (E5J) for me and Asus X75A-DH32 for my dad.

qzDtxRT.jpg

My mom wanted a Chromecast for her and for my uncle, and then one Pro Controller for me and one for my friend during the $30 Best Buy sale.

nHRSfHR.jpg

First stick I ever touched, excited to try it out.

Ko2xcHL.jpg

A Jansport Odyssey
with all of the above inside it (plus a Design Patterns book, 4 handhelds, a mouse, and cables and chargers for everything). That's including the 2 laptops and the stick.
Wait what.

JbgGcTi.jpg

The XPTs for me, they're really comfy although I can't say I notice a big difference between them and my Sennheiser PX-100's (which are comfier). I definitely needed over-ears though so good enough.

Got super lucky and grabbed some cheap Japanese consoles on eBay.

Sega Saturn for $35 (thankfully I have had a copy of Clockwork Knight from my first trip to Japan to test it).

Also snagged a Twin Famicom for under $100 shipped. Needs some cleaning up. Mighty FF was a separate purchase.

edit: AND IT WORKS!

Finally, my Japanese Console Back in my Play shirts came in!

Oh, almost forgot, I also got this in yesterday.

I'm up to chapter 11; Lightning in a Bottle and having a blast.
It's one of my favourite videogame books I've read so far and if this keeps up it might become my all-time favourite.
Some truly great stories in here about how things went down behind the scenes.

I fully recommend every Sega fan to pick a copy up. :)
Big thanks to Back in My Play and Player One for getting the word out as well!

Was reading that too but the forward in the book is goddamn annoying. I'd rather be smashed in the face with a tack hammer than read seth rogan go back and forth with his friend.

Other than that it seems alright.

Gradius III & IV, loose Imperium, and Cotton Original

Been on a 2D shooter kick lately

Skull Fang and Sega Memorial Volumes 1 & 2

I total forgot how good Pengo and Monaco GP are. The last time I played these games was back in 1983 at the local corner market.

Back In My Play T-Shirt (Japanese consoles)

Saturn, PS, and N64 t-shirt next?

Never realised WBIII was a Metroidvania, so I immediately bought one after I found out! I also always wanted to play Master of Darkness, I love me a decent Castlevania clone. I bought the Zero Suit Samus figure only because I could get it cheap and because I love Metroid (not Other M, which this is based off of unfortunately), still not sure why it normally goes for $80+

Heh that isn't bad for something like that (the Samus figure)

As far as WB3, I have very fond memories of playing that game when it came out on the Master System. Great game, still love the music.

Coach Kevin do you know if the disk system games work on that twin? I know the original system apparently craps out early and I kinda want to get one to play Doki Doki Panic. Amazing pickup tho.

Let's just say it's been a good couple of weeks.

Bought all of these
sxZ2Wbu.jpg

and put them in this
DIlc67v.jpg

vTw6tAk.jpg

Been wanting to build a gaming pc for a while. Here are the specs. Yes I could've probably gotten a few cheaper pieces but I am happy.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690k
Graphics: Asus AMD Radeon R9 280x
Memory: 2x GSkill Trident X 8GB 2400mhz
Storage: 128GB Crucial MX 100 SSD and 2TB Seagate Barracude
Power Supply: Cooler Master 750 Watt

Also picked up these M-Audio Speakers for sound, I am not a fan of headsets. I don't believe the mouse was pictured either last time, it is a SteelSeries Sensei [RAW].
http://i.imgur.com/P7BgfsV.jpg?1/img]

I also got this monitor on the cheap on ebay. It's an Asus VS-239H-P. IPS HD 23", just slightly better then the Dell I am using at the moment. Got it for $35 shipped, someone had ripped the stand out of the back of it, but I can just pick up a cheap VESA mount for it and be set.
[img]http://i.imgur.com/JIktz19.jpg?1

Finally, got these three Saturn import titles in.
u2OihTv.jpg

Almost forgot, went thrifting and picked up these three SNES titles for the prices marked. Wasn't even gonna go today.

My wife arrived with these two yesterday:
Best surprise gift ever said:

She bought both for ~$5 (COP$9900) each.

I was looking for a cheap copy of MKDS (My favorite Mario Kart), amazon's prices were high despite being an old game... and don't get me started with local retailers' prices (INSANELY high).

Never had the chance to play SM64DS, though I played the hell out of SM64 when I was a teenager.

I'm a happy husband :)

Been on a huge retro kick the last few months and I've slowly been adding to my collection. A few good finds the last two weeks from various thrift and Goodwill stores!

Toys R Us is having their annual summer clearance and they had some great deals on average (or worse) 3rd party games for the WiiU. These 3 were 90% off.

Is Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara playable for non Japanese speakers? I've been wanting to pick up a physical copy of the game for a while, but I don't think that either the Japanese or Asian version have an English language option.

Nice pickups. I grabbed a ton of Batman graphic novels as well from the Google Play Store while they are on sale.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_3000aa8_batman_xfn
  • Batman: Year One ($3.75)
  • Batman: The Killing Joke ($4.50)
  • Batman: The Complete Hush ($6.25)
  • Batman: The Dark Knight Returns ($5)
  • Batman: R.I.P ($1.99)
  • Detective Comics #27 Special Edition (FREE)

Also, all 7 volumes of Frank Miller's Sin City are on sale ridiculously cheap. Like $2-3 apiece. I think you can get the entire set for less than the regular price for one. I grabbed all of those as well. https://play.google.com/store/books/author?id=Frank+Miller

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 inch tablet. I've been taking advantage of how glorious graphic novels look on that Super AMOLED display. I'm stocking up on reading material for a 10 day Alaskan cruise the wife and I are taking in about a month. Got the complete Games of Thrones collection for about $7 from a sale they had a whiles back. Over 4000 pages. I think I'm good to go.

Edit: Added links and prices in case anyone else is interested.

Been looking for a decently price copy of Skyward Sword for a while now. And it was 50% off, so score.
Also, Pikmin is one of the few first party games for the Wii U that I care about I was missing. All I'm missing now is Lego City.

Haven't played it yet as I've been too busy with Sengoku Musou 4, so I don't know if there is an English option somewhere in there.
But I figure even if there's not, and although it might not be the most straight forward beat 'em up, it still would be perfectly playable for non Japanese speakers.
The magic and item system has icons as well as text so it's only a matter of getting used to them I guess.

Oh and I'm so happy this finally arrived today! :D

I had been searching for a mint condition copy of issue 10 for nearly 6 months now.
Since I bought the full set a couple of years ago, I thought I would be set, but I noticed that this particular issue had some severe printing problems near the end of the magazine.
So much so that certain parts were almost impossible to read and thus I wasn't able to salvage those pages, no matter what I did with them.
Now that I finally found a copy where this printing problem is minimal, I can finally get to work on this issue for the site. :)

It's not the greatest. Too easy as the Raptor, too annoying as Grant. A cheap movie tie-in.

I remember playing through it as a kid and having an OK time.
Thanks, I guess I'll pass on it. There were so many JP games that I forgot which one I liked as a kid. I think SNES had a good one? Top down view... my memory is really fuzzy

It is a later revision of the model one with a different sound chip in it.
OH I thought the revisions had a different shape altogether. Thanks!

Also snagged a Twin Famicom for under $100 shipped. Needs some cleaning up. Mighty FF was a separate purchase.

Man that's crazy! How much does that normally go for? What do you think of those Japan > North America converter adapter things?

BTW I'm addicted to your podcast, I'm listening from Ep 0 and up. I think I'm on ep 16 now. You've really rekindled my love for my old games and I'm starting up my collection again after seeing your universal game case videos!

Dragon's Trap was my favourite SMS game! One day it will be back in my collection! Enjoy it if you haven't played it already!!
