You're in for a ride with the PS1 version of MGS (tied as the best with...) and MGS3.

I played mgs 3 first then 1 then 2...needless to say 1 is my least favorite.

I've already played 1 and 2. Like I've said a few posts back, the ps1 version of MGS holds up pretty well in terms of presentation and is a pretty good game. MGS2 on the other hand, although better looking and still up to par with MGS1 is just insufferable because of Raiden's and Rose's dialogue and Raiden's personality, ugh.

Your junior tag is really showing .3.

Nah, but really, you have some really great games ahead of you. Especially Snake Eater and P3 and Dark Souls 1. Unfortunately all 3 of those games sequels could never live up to the greatness of those games, though they're good games in their own right.

I have a hard time starting RPGs, especially Dark Souls because of how confusing it is right off the bat.
I prefer playing other games in my backlog that are quicker to finish because of their linearity. I should maybe spend more time with RPG-like games to get a feel for the genre

I know I am not adding anything but I just wanted to say that the Super Best Friends are the best LPers on youtube. It does my heart good to see such a loyal fanbase.

Crash Bandicoot games have aged extremely well. Graphically and gameplay wise. Even Spyro games have as well.

I don't just mean visually, I mean gameplay wise as well. There are many PS1 games that hold up in terms of overall gameplay and combat mechanics, whereas MGS's combat misses some important elements to it that are present in the later games. There are even games that manage to still look fine (due to a fantastic artstyle), but MGS's full-3D style aged absolutely terribly.

Extremely impressive at the time, hard to look at now.
I meant purely visually, gameplay wise most platformers or RPGs are just fine. But PS1 graphics have aged horribly across the board. Early 3D is just destined to look like shit.

I know. I was looking forward to playing Advanced Warfare too. It looks interesting.

The Ubisoft thread and now the CoD news are making me really nervous about buying my Wii U.
You honestly expected a CoD game to come to the WiiU?

Don't be. I'm still hyped for tons of confirmed Wii U stuff. I'm just bummed because it's my only console since my 360 was on the brink of death and I sold it to gamestop. There's nothing for ME on any of the other next gen consoles to validate a purchase.

Considering that the last two games took forever to be confirmed, I'd say it was reasonable.

I uhhh...wonder what you'll do for me... ;)

I went 3 then 2 then 1. 1 and 3 are my tops, still need to replay 3 though; been too long.

And I will say that MGS1 holds up today because I only just got around to playing it a year ago and was completely blown away in every way.
I'm the type that just enjoys things without comparing old vs new unless it's a remake/ upgrade. And in that regard I think Twin Snakes looks dang ugly compared to the original.

I dated them all and then had them watch as I spent Valentine's with Rise. Didn't even look back.

I'm dead inside.

I went with Rise on my first playthrough, then on my second harem playthrough I only went with Naoto to get her uniform. Then I reset, went with Rise, reset, then back to Naoto to keep the uniform.

Rise still best tho

Always play things from the order with which they are released in if it's possible. Matt's idea about playing it chronologically was terrible. MGS1 was an absolutely fantastic game for its time and does a lot of things not even MGS3 managed to achieve.
That being said, it didn't age well at all, so going back from 3 to 1 isn't going to work.

I didn't have a Playstation console until 2 years ago, so for me, going into MGS1 (digital) was like catching up to what I missed out on, with a mindset of how games controlled back in the 90s, so it was easy to pick up.

BUT, I wouldn't play them in chronological order just because of the difference in mechanics. God would I feel lost without the CQC mechanic of MGS3 while playing MGS1

"We promise nothing and deliver less"

You're living up to the creed.

But really you're adding a lot more than the rest of us talking about best waifus and dark souls.

These nerds aren't even loyal to their waifus.

It's good to be the King.

The other games came late in the Wii's life cycle but they were there. Having zero support at least right now is just brutal.

Not even Bloodborne?

Welcome Friender. Pat's hiding around here somewhere.

This is what I was talking about we need some new people...no offense to you guys I like seeing fresh blood and knowing we are helping the fanbase lol.

I TAKE OFFENSE!!! I got my eye on you, Junior.

I was hoping for a chance to practice and get used to the controls again before going up against you, but all right. Considering how good you are tho, I'm probably going to be dead tired by the time it's 12 a.m here.
But...give me 20 minutes and we'll play.

Yeah sure. In the meantime, anyone wants to come in, speak up for an invite.
And if anyone has a better ping than me, please volunteer to take over hosting.

It doesn't even surprise me that Pat went from one of the most frequent posters in the previous thread to barely present/a shiny pokemon in this new thread. At all.
EDIT: That being said, it seems he does have about 150 posts. Guess he posts after midnight for us EU members.

He's on a good amount around 3-5 am EST time.

You guys know what Persona 5 needs? An incest story line. We gotta bring this whole thing full circle.

Actually, back on topic, I finally caught up on almost everything since losing my internet. And I'm up-to-date on Dark Souls II.

I kinda hope that Woolie ends up using the double bladed weapon for a little bit. If just for fun. He's getting more confident in his melee abilities, and since the previous build is out the window, maybe he can adopt something else with a respec.

Woolie trying out another weapon would keep things fresh, and let Woolie experience for himself if doing such a thing is a big mistake or not. Every build is pretty viable, after all. I do think that the cleric was a good way of easing him into Dark Souls melee combat at the start.

So its all Aarrons fault

*nods*

Yep.

The real question is if he'll get parrying down.

I can't type during the day, only late night when no one else is up and not a sound is being made. I'm weird like that, I sure as hell can't type while a TV show is on.
