I've heard of lesser reasons so ill just take that.
I guess the villain angle is the best way to look at it.
Its a shake even unique move sets can be put on the chopping block.

I think the Ridley thing in the Direct was, like, Sakurai going "Only true fans will know who this is!" and not being sneaky about "I WONDER IF RIDLEY IS A BOSS HMMM"
Everyone with a background knowledge of Metroid was supposed to easily figure it out. But the internet had a mental snap and decided it must mean Sakurai is trolling because they have painted him to be like Xanatos of the game design world.

I have to say tho, just like in Mario Kart 8, I'm not married to an specific character. I'll try all of them. I'm looking forward to Wii Fit Trainer and Rosalina but Luigi always will be my main <3

He uses realistic explosives (and could potentially use other weapons that are realistically violent). It's a good point, that would be something to include in the video. And given this/these leaks have had some truth to them, it seems striking/worrisome that Snake hasn't been mentioned in a positive way at all across any of them.
