Seems to be a half-assed PC port, just like Last Light. QTEs, a keyboard-unfriendly weapon switching mechanic, ridiculously low FOV (which can thankfully be changed in a config file). There's also apparently no way to get triple buffering since D3DOverrider doesn't work with DX11 and the developers didn't include the option.

Still better than the console versions - i mean when the original games came out

For someone who has never played either game, is just jumping in at Survival and the hardest difficulty level a good idea? Am I going to suffer badly from a lack of familiarity without any HUD?

D3DOverrider works with DX11 games, just not with 64 bits one. The in-game vsync in LL never caused me problems.

People in the US: How many hours are left on the Steam store counter? The store part of Steam appears to be impossible to beat with vpn atm, so I can't check myself.

Vsync works but it's obviously a lower framerate than I'd get with triple buffering. That's good to know about the 64 bit thing, though.

Uh it's already unlocked? Launched and played the beginning of 2033 Redux this morning, over an hour ago. Last Light also looked like it had unlocked but I didn't try launching it myself.

Ah yes, the now legendary, broken as fuck, stealth mechanic of Metro 2033. Wait till you discover the "I win" mechanic known as throwing knifes.

Hey Dictator, I tracked down your old post about the Russian VA:

Would you recommend sticking with English VA for the first time through? I was sort of hoping the Russian VA would be more immersive, but I'd hate to miss interesting side conversations...

Like Dictator said, play in English on your first play through, but on subsequent replays, play with Russian VA, the quality of acting is so vastly superior, it's not even funny.

I've played LL recently, and Physx problems still there...

Drops to 7-10fps, that's ridiculous...and it's funny because those drops appears at some points that there's no physx elements.

Has Metro Redux this problems too?

I don't think that 2033 has a broken stealth mechanic.. for a FPS game, it's really good - better AI than in most stealth games from the last years.. the problem is that the AI is really punishing, hard & one mistake and every one of the enemies knows exactly where you are.. but that doesn't mean it's broken.. i'm playing the original Metro 2033 right now, and against human enemies I use almost all the time stealth and it works.. some levels like Frontline are really frustrating, but otherwise the stealth works really good

Have they made it possible to knock enemies out non-lethally in 2033?

Have they also fixed that section in 2034, with that rail area underground filled with human enemies where there was this one particular enemy on a pulley which we couldn't climb or jump and made it impossible to knock him out. I Had to kill that guy. Played through the entire campaign of 2034 knocking human enemies out left, right and center.

When I say broken I don't mean bad, I mean that it's extremely overpowered, and people can abuse it, I sure do :p. If you have a silenced pistol and throwing knifes you can pretty much go to town and wipe out an entire room of enemies without them ever seeing you due to how OP the stealth is.

It gets even more fun when you start turning off the lights and you become a Riddick.

Please tell me someone has figured out how to edit an .ini or something to make the initial video sequence before the main menu just be skipped. Lol

Thanks. Tried to unlock before going to work today about 7 hours ago, but did not succeed. Nice to hear that it is unlocked now, and I hope that it is possible to beat vpn drm.

Do you use 8.1? Had that for a bit but they updated physx via drivers a while back.

Yeah, it's really a bummer that they brought over the terrible PC interface from Last Light. Very obvious that this is a console port rather than the other way around. Then again, despite the reduced smoke and volumetric lighting it definitely has some big improvements. Was coming to some screenshots I took with the original and the textures/general lighting look pretty nice. Plus 2033 is still a brilliant game so I can't wait to spend more time with it. Didn't really notice the fov, but that's something that's never bothered me. Actually thought the gun seemed like it was pretty far out.

As for the QTEs, pound E!

Yup, 8.1.

It's not the first problem i have with Metro LL, one day without a reason, the game forced DX9 and the perfomance reduced like a beast.

Thank god i find a the reason and a way to solve the problem forcing DX11 with the cfg file.

BTW, when i say recently, i'm referring to a week at the most.

That Last Light Physx problem was produced by faulty physx install in a few nvidia drivers package.

I formatted my PC 1 week ago, reinstalled Metro LL, tried latest Nvidia drivers and the problem is still there...

I don't know what to do, those drops are insane.

What Physx version are you using ? Somethig is wrong on your end.
Physx runs superbly on my GTX 770 (I'm on W8.1 too).

I suggest reinstalling the Physx drivers. Are you sure you didn't set Physx on the CPU by mistake in your driver panel ?

First of all, activate physx UI to know if it's running in your gpu or your cpu.

Is there any way for EU users to grab the digital version from the US store and play it today? If I can't pay with a credit card or via PayPal because I reside out of the States, where can I get a gift card without having to pay extra?

Yup, it works on the GPU

I have no idea with this config things, newbie alert, so i have no f***ing idea what i'm doing at all XD

As i said, those drops appears only at some points, for example:

when Pavel is in prison and Artyom talks with him while is inside a pipe or something, i don't remember the chapter but is at the beginning of it...

Well, at that point framerate drops to 8fps, stunning

This is the config window. What you need is to activate physx ui so you can see while playing where actually is running.

Ok, you mean activate Physx ingame and then see if is running with the GPU.

How can i see if it's working with the GPU?

Thx for all your help btw :)

In nvidia control panel, open physx tab, and in the top bar, activate "Show PhysX indicator"

Ok, time has come to purchase (A little later today). Should i go Disc, or Digital? I am leaning towards digital because it seems like the "hip" thing to do. Both games are 10GB each, correct?

I bought digital on my Xbone. Think the total download was around 17gb for both.
Did you buy the digital two pack? If so does it just include both games as separate games or is there a unified menu? I've been wondering about this as I haven't been able to purchase yet.

It's kind of weird the way it works. When you buy the digital pack, you have to go in and manually select to download each. They each then have a their own menu tiles and are counted as separate games once downloaded.

Just bought Last Light Redux on Xbox One and installing. First break I get I'm going to dive in. Really glad you can buy each game separately on digital as I just finished 2033 on Xbox about 3 months ago.

That's fairly glowing coming from Sterling is it not?

I'd say so, especially given the fact that it's a remaster. Still, unless the game was uterrly broken, you'd have to imagine that the work put into remastering 2033 as well as putting two games into a single package and still charging less than a new retail release earns 4A major kudos.
