I didn't get the Marmozets record yesterday, never had the chance. I didn't contribute to first day sales, if they get dropped by their label I'll feel partially responsible.

I'll grab it on the way home...

:/
I listened! Yours, Acrid's and Sploatee's mixes were the best and have earned permanent spots on my phone.
Yup, that's exactly what I thought, Jimmy's too, all of them were interesting, diverse and stuffed with great tunes. Too many of the tapes were just the same kind of stuff all the way through.

"Mix" tape, the clue is in the title man!

I want to hear Screaming Meat's tape, I reckon it'll be bonkers.
Was thinking recently about doing a PFG and Friends mixtape, I think I've played with enough great bands that I could put together 45 mins of us lot.

There's a thread on gaming side titled 'Just ordered a PS4 - which games should i get?'.

For some reason, it's making me irrationally angry. I always find 'define my preferences for me' threads irritating, but there's just something about that title that's really burrowed under my skin.

When I say spacious, it's about finding something like a 50m²/530ft² flat for 2 people (like living room, bedroom, kitchen and maybe a small room for storage). 1 hour transportation per day is ok for me (like half an hour a day, maximum 40 minutes)

Hey Thomasorus.

There are lots of green parks and big open spaces in London. Where I live (Woodford) it's very green and lovely and doesn't feel like living in London, I'm 5 minutes from Epping Forest. But I'm also 5 minutes from a tube station on the central line which takes me to the City in 20mins, and the West End in 30mins.

With what you and your gf will be earning you will easily afford a nice 1 bed flat somewhere nice. I would definitely recommend giving London a try, it has so much to offer it would be a really good experience for you.

The hive mind Sploatee found nanobots to be inefficient. It prefers infiltration via osmotic ontological interpenetration.

You were planning on taking over Western Europe? Well thank you soooo much for the invite, gawd.

OT but if you could change your GAF name, what would you change it to?

I don't know. Maybe something meta and eye-rolling like "Junior Member" because people will see what I did there at some point and it will have been worth it.

"I've made a purchase usually based on there being games of interest, but my mind works backwards! Fill in the blanks!"

I quite like the consistency of the same username everywhere but it means there's certain things I don't discuss. Uhhm. Man, I need a good alternative username. Your question has stumped me.

I think I'd change my name to Sexguy Thundercock. It would be a bit weird using my real name online, but I'd get used to it.

"I've made a purchase usually based on there being games of interest, but my mind works backwards! Fill in the blanks!"
Yup, that's about it. My head fills with white noise when I read the title.

What's wrong with underscores?

You know I never even noticed your username had one.

I've gone and put my foot in it now.

I just prefer an empty space between words, an underscore is_visual_clutter_though I understand some usernames are sourced from online handles on Live or PSN where spaces might not be allowed. So I'll withdraw my_complaint now.

When I joined Gaf I wasn't allowed to have a space in between. Spaces weren't allowed.

I wouldn't. I use this name almost everywhere I can and I'm not changing that.

If I was forced to though.. hmm. Stu444? Not exactly creative lol. Or maybe BlueTears. I don't even know where I got that from lol.

BGBW

Maturity, bitches.
I used to use BGBW everywhere but now I'm starting to use random names for different places. I think BGBW is too established here to change though.

Bah, just texted Sam (from Albert Hall) to ask what time my shift is tonight but he said they already have enough staff even though I said I would do it weeks ago. I must've missed the confirmation email over the weekend because I basically ignored my phone until yesterday.

Fuck's sake, it's SBTRKT tonight, I really wanted to work this shift! Plus Eilidh is going to be there all pilled up on a love buzz, she was literally bouncing with excitement about it last weekend.

Can you get it changed again, you can keep it as The Poet but just lose the annyoing underscore ok thanks

What's wrong with underscores?
They're for email address and filthy plagiarists.

I think some people take my knowingly corny handle too seriously, I should've called myself "NinJahKillahxXx420xXx" if I had fully committed.

dapperbandit is not only a great handle, but "daps" is a winning nickname.

Never change man.

Thanks Ninj

Thing is, I can't exactly recall where the name came from. There are two possible explanations. I either got called that by my teacher in Philosophy class after something I said, or I came up with it during a rap battle I once had with a chavvy mate.

I was actually going to make a mix tape, but I forgot all about it.

I think I'll make two - one I think you'll like, and one I like.

Do it!

I already changed mine after 2 days of getting activated. If I was to change it again it would be something rad like SKULL-KITTEN or AXE_WIZARD

Axe wizard!

Think harder! And more!

I always read your name as bugaboo.

I always read it as beebeegeebee.

I joined three years earlier than you and I got a space in my name.

In other news, can't believe I've been here since 2007, that's horrifying.

I've been here >10 years now. I think I took some time out 2007-2010 or so though.

We are aiming a 2 bedroom flat to be honest, and more in the west of london. I checked some websites and the cheapest you can find is 1200£/month for a 2bed flat (so I'll consider it's 1400£ just in case :'D). My GF salary would just afford the flat price and I would then need to pay for her travel card as well as mine and all other costs of life. It can work but it means my GF would be totally dependant of me and her medication too. It does not please me at all. :/

I think you'll be hard pressed finding somewhere spacious and affordable without having to commute 1-2 hours into work. There are some nice areas on the very outskirts of the underground system (Finchley, Barnet of the top of my head) but that can still take up to an hour to get into central London.

Not sure on the cost of private healthcare or whether you'll be eligible to some NHS services, you'll have to look into it.

CHEAP AND SPACIOUS?!?!?!?!?

@Musha_Soturi I saw you at EGX!!!! ...that was you, right? :D

£1200pcm 'round my way will get you a 4 bed, 2 bath, 2 rec detached with a nice sized garden.

Fuck city living. Glad me and the missus sloped off to quieter parts.

I find it weird how the papers describe Islamic 'radicalisation'. It's like a contagious disease.

'She was radicalised on the way to Bristol.'
'We need to spot radicalisation early.'

Ahah I think like you but sometimes job opportunities arise and you've got to consider them. ^^
Yeah, I dig that, and there are a lot of advantages to city living, for sure.

I think you crazy cats will have a blast. London has a motor museum and.... probably some other stuff too.

When I hear the phrase there's always a glimmer of something in the back of my mind and I realise the first time I heard someone say "radical" was probably while they were on a skateboard.

That's because it pretty much is a contagious disease. The terminology is apt.

Ok, well a 2 bed flat is still doable, but probably not in West London. Is there any reason you're looking there? It is the most expensive part. I pay £850 a month for a large 3 bed flat in North East London.

Yeah that was me out the front at lunchtime with others from BritGaf, was nice to meet you!

Love this

I still love how Americans call things 'rad'.

You are probably right there, Mr. It's depressing to see how people get misled. Some really sad stories in th press recently.

Yeah I agree, it's scary how easily angry young men can be turned towards radicalisation.

I don't think the media helps matters either, their whole approach to the phenomenon is so binary and frankly childish (as is most of their nonsense tbh). They publish terror hate porn that scares middle England making them more racist but also acts as a form of propaganda for the radicals (duuuuuuuude), making some of them into martyrs. I bet Jihadi John has done more for recruiting than anything else for years.

to be fair, the news media sicken me more and more every time I come into contact with them. Saw a story on the Telegraph site today after I was linked there, talking about revenge porn and celeb sex tape culture. I thought it would be a thoughtful dissection of the issues, but it was more like a titilating advert for the fact that THESE THINGS EXIST. It's gross.

/end rant

bitch I'm taking calls.
Underscores are common in programming mostly through variable naming convention simply because whitespace is understood to be a carriage return in many compilers or a special character that must be specifically accounted for. Thus it cannot be used in many names. For example you can't have a white space in URLs, another example being "thing 1" would need to be declared as a variable via "thing_1" or "thing1". At least that is the case for C++ but I'm sure there are some high level languages which allow whitespace in naming variables too.

The more you know
but didn't ask about
.

Languages that allow you to use whitespace or require you to use the same standard of whitespace throughout a program or else it won't compile are dogshit (looking at you, Python).

What area of the city are you going to be working in? I used to live in Kentish Town and fire £1400 you could probably get a nice two bed there. Where I used to live was a twenty minute walk from Regents Park (best park in London imo), ten minute walk to Hampstead Heath (massive wild green space), 15 minutes on the tube to the city, ten minutes on the tube to the west end, 15 minutes on the overground to Hackney etc. Amazing links and relatively quiet yet with craziness a ten minute walk away if that's what you're after.

KP mostly lives on our whatsapp these days, he posts pictures of scotland and drugs, it's great.
Yeah, I've seen him in there. I just can't dig WA. It flows way too quickly and I don't know half of the peeps in there without their GAF names.

I'll get a young person to explain it to me some time.

Unfortunately I'm the same, it flows way too fast and I end up missing chunks of conversations.
