Hey guys!

After a long, gruling development cycle, Fruit Ninja has just gotten a massive facelift.

The guys and gals have been hard at work to update Fruit Ninja to the new age of iPhone games. Might have been a while since you've played it, so give it a go!

Download it here! (Free / Paid)

Just curious: why not release a new game instead of massively revamping the old one?
Is it to maintain the user-base?
Having to keep whatever IAP a former player might have bought hasn't caused you massive headaches?

Is this the sequel to Candy Crush Saga? It doesn't look like the same puzzly explody F2P series everyone knows and loves. I'm confused!

Yeah, I'm expecting King to step in at any moment now to get rid of those name-stealing meanies. I can tell you there is going to be way more people past me who aren't going to realise what this game actually is, and that could be so damaging for Kings reputation

We definitely believe in the long haul. Hell, I'm on the Jetpack Joyride team and that just hit 3 years old, and we're still making awesome, cool stuff for it. Hell, my first game - Age of Zombies, which is almost 5 years old at this point, just got a massive update with local multiplayer

If there's still a lot of life in a game, we're not going to drop it :)

I haven't seen any timer yet. Adventure Xpress is awesome. It should be added to the OP.

And Sony has released another endless runner, this time a premium app (NO IAP)(Sackboy Run doesnt have a release date yet)

When you die in Xpress, there's a timer to refill your heath potion but it doesn't affect you playing the game in any way

And I'm surprised by all these Sony IOS games. Maybe we'll see an actual IOS Uncharted and could forget about Gameloft's attempt

I haven't had the chance to thank you for the massive support you give to your games. Adding local co-op to a 5 year old iOS game is something really rare, I believe it the first time I see this. Kudos to you :)

I was wondering what the potion was for, tried to tap it without luck. So it has timers but when you die... that is ok to me, at least I can play as much as I want if I am good at it. I haven't died yet -but have been really close, and there have been a lot of good luck involved-.

And I'm surprised by all these Sony IOS games. Maybe we'll see an actual IOS Uncharted and could forget about Gameloft's attempt

My theory about this is that both Nintendo and Sony are very smart. Very very smart and not stubborn. They both know that iOS is one of the most popular products on the world and that everyone is playing it, so they bring some of their huge catalog to iOS in hope of making them aware of their own brand, trying to reach new and old users alike, showing them that the Sony brand (or Nintendo) knows how to do things right (as the kind of IAP found in the new batch of Sony games and "hey, we are here!" thing. I am in for this, Sony please keep it up :)

The Banner Saga on iPad Air is just GLORIOUS.

I MEAN, GLORIOUS.

Almost instant loading, unbelivable graphic that just 'pop out' from the screen, awesome music and sound, killer interface (really, seems built just for the iPad).
Speechless, I really did well waiting this long to play it on iPad.

There seems to be even iCloud support (I found on iPad my savegame from my short 5 minutes on iPhone).

I bet it's glorious on latest iPhones too (can't wait to try it on my soon to arrive iPhone 6).
On a iPhone 4S it looks great and gameplay parts are perfect, but loading times are a bit too long for my likes (almost XCOM long) and cutscenes alternate from being fluid to being choppy constantly, so that's a bit annoying.

Ah!
There is a really neat effect applied everywhere: the parallax move as you move your device (accelerometer).

Sorry, back playing.

Thanks for the imps. Definately will pick this up but think I'm going to wait for the Android version. Sounds like the interface is just too small for phones. Do you think that on your 4S?

Also, anyone know the installed size of Card Dungeon? Have 500 MB free and it still won't install.

Come to think of it, how big is Banner Saga? Like 3 gigs?

Awesome! Just reinstalled Fruit Ninja for the first time in forever. Gonna check out what has changed.

Whoa, pretty good that The Banner Saga is universal. I was waiting for the iOS release but wasn't expecting it to work on the iPhone. The delays got me a bit worried actually. Not going to be buying it for now since I'll try to beat a few games before I buy new ones not on sale, but I'm glad it's released.

The BR Store page is a bit funny though, they used Portugal Portuguese for the description and the screenshots are in Spanish.

So talking to the dev on Twitter, sounds like the Android version of Banner Saga may be a ways off.

I'd love to hear impressions from anyone playing it on an iPhone (particularly a 5S). The one post I saw on another site made or sound like it's not a great experience on the smaller screen.

Hate being impatient :(

You may not have heard of it as it's been near impossible to get any reviews or coverage in English speaking regions, though I was interviewed for Pocket Gamer.

like the gameboy look, watching the video/gif, i feel like i might get a seizure from the constant flashing

On Iphone it was a simple update - but on Ipad (where i owned Fruit Ninja HD) it was confusing. The in game news item took me to the store to download Fruit Ninja Free. What is the difference between Free and paid and why didn't the ipad game get a update? I assume trying to cut down on the number of apps to update since my Starfruit carried over.

Two hours flew by by playing Banner Saga on iPad.

I'm totally in love with....everything in the game.

I promise I'll try the iPhone version if I manage to 'unstuck' from my iPad.

If you have an iPad and like TBS games, don't esitate.

Ok pita, how much money did the devs give you now?

jk I'll be downloading the game tonight :)

I must resist the urge on Banner Saga. Remembered that I have Shadowrun Returns that I barely scratched the surface of on my tablet. So going to play through that until the Android version of Banner Saga is out.

I just don't want to have a sub-par experience on a small phone screen. But dammit, I want it now. Kind of wish it hadn't been universal so I'd have no choice but to wait.

Today I released a new local multiplayer game for iOS called Astro Party. It's a two button battle royale for two players on iPhone and up to four players on iPad. You can only turn right. Also it's free!

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/astro-party/id904693943?mt=8

Local multiplayer isn't exactly a big niche on iOS, but I super love it. I'd love to hear what y'all think of the game.

astro_party.gif

This sounds a lot like a game that I can't seem to find anymore called Trigger. Similar concept, except you were a little toy on a desktop and the world was made up entirely of items you'd find on a desk: matchbook, notebook, rulers, pins, erasers, etc. Same concept, except one button: tap to turn right, and it was 2-4 players. The game would shoot for you, which I found annoying.

I really like the aesthetic of your game, though, and I like that it's 2-button. I'll definitely give it a go :) The more local multiplayer games the better!!

Ok.
As promised I tried better the iPhone version of Banner Saga.
Played a full dialogue session followed by a big (and utterly awesome) fight....around 40 minutes.

To be honest....loading from iCloud 'magically solved' almost all problems.
Meaning...the game was perfectly fluid (maybe but when the game opens first time the red banner for dialogue).
Dialogues are perfectly readable, scenes are still fantastic.
During gameplay, everything was fluid and was perfectly playable.
Text in icons and help is VERY VERY tiny (I can read it but I'm sure many will complain)...if you played it a bit it's not a big problem tough.
Text in dialogues is perfectly readable.
It's weird...I reloaded and restarted a game...and the first cutscenes choppiness is there.

That said, on a ancient 4S, loading times are LONG...but I can see myself doing some fights when on the go (can't wait for the new iPhone to arrive tough).

I think it could be perfectly playable on recent devices.

BTW, iCloud support is perfect....you have several slots and within the single slots you can select single chapters or scenes.

That said...did I mention that on iPad Air the game is just GLORIOUS.

Because it's GLORIOUS.

Oh man, thanks okno!

At one point I tried limiting the controls to one-button, but shooting automatically never felt right. Ammo in Astro Party is also a resource. You start with three bullets that you can freely burst. (The bullets automatically recharge.)

I'm super interested in checking out Trigger. Was it for iOS or Windows?

Wish there was a solo mode with bots, but either way, the game is really fun.

:)

I just remembered that Trigger ALSO had a three bullet ammo limit, but you would shoot a bullet every time you turned. The strategy then was to watch your enemies' every move so that you would turn and trick them into a bullet of yours. If you got hit, you would fall out of your little car and drop a bomb every time you turned until you either got run over, shot, or made it back to your car. Cute game!

The game was on iOS. I have no idea why it would get taken down, to be honest. The advantage your game has over Trigger, by far, is it much cleaner and easier to see things. Trigger got very busy with four players going at once.

The game is fine on my iPhone 5s, both in performance and usability. The only thing that is annoying as he'll is the damn parallax effect as it confuses your brain ;) You can drag the camera by finger but it also moves when you tilt the device which can be confusing.

There is also one point in the tutorial where you have to tilt to reveal the buttons underneath the tutorial message.

I wish the effect could be disabled but other than that, it is very much playable with decently-sized font.

?! What the heck !? It's weird that I couldn't find it... I'm pretty sure I first heard about it because of you, hah.
If you were searching "Trigger", that's probably why. It's buried beneath a whole bunch of other games. Searching the dev's name Spelkraft is more efficient

Don't know where else to put this but may as well put this here:

It's a mobile first card brawler MMORPG type game. Just put down $35 as it looks kinda cool. Just found out about it today from someone on pocket tactics so it may be a little late for this but, only 4 days left. Hopefully they can make their goal in that time, more ambitious mobile titles never hurts.

Nice to hear it has cloud saves, that makes me feel better about downloading it because I have both a pad and a phone.

I also have a 4S so it's nice to hear it doesn't run like shit.

Thanks again for posting!

Must Go Up keeps deleting my save on my iPad and iPhone.
Shame, as it was fun.

There's debate over whether this is intentional or not.

I hated it at first, but I think it's intentional. There are very few items to unlock, so you would become an unstoppable powerhouse very quickly if you could keep everything. It's annoying at first, but it forces you to play the game differently every time you play. That's what keeps bringing me back. If it let you keep all of your shit every time you played, I would have been bored after the third time.

Hm. If it is, I do hope he has a big content update down the pipeline. I'm just the type of person who gets bored very, very quickly with a game like this if I have all of the tools at my disposal easily. I work well under constraint, so having everything within my reach just destroys my creativity. It's really a personal thing, but, personally, I'd like it to remain the same, but also receive more items over time.

So, I took a bullet and bought this. I love, love, love classic GB games so this immediately struck my eye. The game is stylized well and animates exactly as you would expect it to it. The controls are responsive and easy, and the objective is clear. What I like most about the game is how heavily the consequences weigh against you. Every candlestick matters, and it makes your score that much more valuable. To see intrinsically your percentage of hit candlesticks and multiplier is very, very satisfying. This element really gives the game a very, very satisfying "just one more go" feeling that I feel a lot of endless runners miss.

One thing that the game is sorely, sorely, SORELY lacking, however, is leaderboards. You need to get GameCenter support in here ASAP. Right now, the only reason to play is to beat my own score, which is fine! I like the game and I want to get better, because I want that percentage sign to stay at 100% at all times. I get the same feeling from your game that I get from playing Space Channel 5. I want that percentage to stay as close to 100% as humanly possible and any error sends me into a fury. However, and this is a big one for me... When you pause, you are given the option to turn on/off the music, SFX, weather and vibrate. Right underneath all of that is a GIANT button that says "Reset Scores". This button is WAY too big and WAY too close to the other buttons, and also, in such a twitch-based game, invites the player to instinctively press the button. You need to separate these elements, because it's confusing.

Other than that, I really enjoy the game a ton.
