This sucks, even in another group i follow everyone laments the poor quality of the cmf. Personally i've found that every yellow hand was of a washed yellow quality. Days later the situation got better (maybe sun rays do the trick?) But the difference is still visible...

Also the musketteer as an orangish torso WTH?!?

I said the same thing about the Musketeer. The torso is a vastly different color from the head/hands.

Edit: 4 pages left!

It saddens me greatly. LEGO has to realize that if the quality drop gets publicity, they have a huge chance of taking a financial hit. The other companies out there are not going to sit on their asses when they have chances offered like this. Quality is one of the things that separates LEGO from the rest. This is the sort of short term mistakes you expect to see from publicly traded companies that have to answer to stockholders, not privately held ones that have more ability to look long term.

TLG should rewatch that CGI LEGO history movie. There was a scene where the son suggested applying one less coat of lacquer to the toys and Ole scolds him.

Hopefully this quality issue is just a bump-in-the-road for LEGO, as they deal with their wildly increasing demand and popularity. If not, then the mighty could fall rather quickly, as Megabloks has already made substantial improvements in their manufacturing over the last couple years.

If quality starts dipping, I will stop buying at full retail price. By that point, the premium price LEGO commands will not be worth it.

Whoah! Can we maybe stop mourning the death of Lego already? There has been low quality stuff here and there for ages. I found those crappy hands among my childhood (-1995) stuff. The CMF samurai has a very poor dark red torso. Café Corner had some notorious colour variation. Family House has some horrible yellows. It's not a threatening downhill slope, it's a result of making literally billions of pieces and sometimes getting a batch of lower quality that is still acceptable.

I did note that Space Miner and Battle Goddess have very vibrant colours but slightly less opaque plastic, so maybe CMF12 is of lower quality overall. The sky is still not falling.

I was surprised how many variation of that "British Racing Rreen" are used for new Mini Cooper after closer examination of the set. Ridiculous QA by LEGO.

Oh, my bad, that makes sense. I remember him promising news/pics sooner :(

It was believed that the next modular was going to be revealed on October 6th (which is when the Parisian Restaurant was revealed last year). However this reveal turned out to be the UCS Slave I.

The current model just became even more of a collectable!

Loving that LEGO Store. I want one this coming year! I'll be on the lookout for any opportunities.

Today I found and bought 30197 (snowman holiday polybag) at B@N as rumored! Look for it near the LEGO section on an endcap where they have the Advent Calendars. I saw maybe 8 of them at my store. Not sure what the LEGO demand is like at B&N, so adjust your rush accordingly. Probably won't be that hard to find.

Also found 3 of the 4 Hobbit sets (no Smaug) at Target. I bought the $15 as a teaser for myself until I get the others on S@H.

Went to a brand new Target, they had the CMF12 line, rang up for 2.99.

GF and I were able to get 2 Pig Men, 1 Wizard, 1 Pizza Guy, 1 Prospector, 1 Swashbuckler.

Was just about to post my CMF 12 find at Walmart today. I really wanted Piggy but what I thought was him ended up being stupid power miner. I did get 1 wizard and 1 Battle Goddess also. I really wanted spooky girl. Battle Goddess and Wizard are pretty cool figs though.

I'm happy for a Quinjet 2, but I have to say i'm disappointed its a higher price point then Avengers Tower meaning smaller set.

I am still waiting for Marvel to get an UCS set. They still haven't had one, where Batman has had three at this point. *crosses fingers for Helicarrier*

Interesting. Wonder what the fortress could actually be.

Im assuming the tower will be of the same nature as Tony Stark's home set.

Also...got my last missing series 3 mixel today! Woo! Made my day.

Well Phon, you may be in luck. From the BrickFan:

On an related/unrelated note, I’ve received word from a source that we will also be seeing another Avengers set that nobody has noted yet, the Avengers Helicarrier. It will be a UCS type set with the price point around $300 and will be available next summer. I’m going to take this information as a rumor for now but it’ll be cool for the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes to finally see a UCS set considering that we got one for LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes with the Tumbler.

I'm going to take that with a huge grain of salt just because I couldn't take the disappointment.

This is the time of year for these kinds of rumors, and some of them have a loooooong tail. I first brought up the rumor of a UCS Slave I on October 6, 2013 - and it just got officially revealed and hasn't been released yet a year later.

Huge grains of salt are a given at this point for sets (especially D2C sets) coming out next year.

Smart.

However...if it is a UCS Helicarrier...it should come with a Carol Danvers minifig...

Have we had confirmation of Helicarriers in Age of Ultron? Unless something changes with that i would probably expect the exclusive figs to be a different Nick Fury print and Maria Hill. which wouldn't be bad. Oh and maybe a Bruce Banner fig. If they wanted to be ultimate fanboys though they would include a Deadpool fig and make his room an easter egg in it.

I've told myself to focus on Star Wars and City sets instead of Superhero sets. I dodged a bullet with most of the DC sets but these Marvel ones might make me break my oath. Need a Hulk and Scarlet Witch.

There been any word on how to get that Rocket Racoon polybag at TRU or when?

I want to know this as well. Hopefully it hits soon.

And tonight I started the Sea Cow. Well, at least the first two bags, which were the figures, couch, and Micro Managers. I will start the Sea Cow proper tomorrow night.

The couch was pretty cool, and I really liked the Mini Beard. I don't think I would have liked Mini Beard as much if I didn't build the full Metal Beard set before. It was neat seeing how they scaled things down and still pulled it off. Especially the shark on the arm.

Picked up CMF Series 12 at Target in Alameda, CA yesterday. They rang up $2.99. I didn't have time to stand around and smoosh, so I just grabbed 21 packs and went on my way. I'll smoosh them later, keep the ones I want, and return the rest.

Love that new Lego store set. It looks leagues better than the current one, which I have.

Most of the work is done for OT 4 now. All the banners are made, and updated the links and info for books. Now I just need to update the info for recommended sets and themes.

I want to know what sets you all would recommend that are still readily available that should go in the OP. Look at the OP for this thread for how I broke it down (price tiers) and please give me some ideas for what to post in the new topic.
I will update the info for all that tomorrow night, and then everything should be ready.

EDIT: And damn, it is more involved doing updates to the themes and sets than I imagined. It had been so long since I made this OT I forgot how much info went into it. But I plan on making OT 4 the best one yet.

Impulse: Seasonal Hoilday Animals for $10, LEGO Friends Animals Series 5 & 6 for $4 and Mixels for $5

Budget minded: All LEGO City Great Vehicles line. Also any of the $20 super hero sets would be great. They all come with 3 minifigures and a vehicle.

Mid-range: ECTO-1, Infearno Interception

High priced: Bike Shop & Cafe, Milano, AT-AT

Insane: Tumbler, Parisian Restaurant

Wouldn't exactly call Parisian Restaurant insane, that would be Sea Cow. Which should totally be in the OP. My favorite set this year by far, enough that I almost wanna throw it off my balcony so I have an excuse to build it again! And yes, Parisian Restaurant too.

Benny's Spaceship x3 would also fit, unless you want to avoid two sets from the same theme.

I've been meaning to post the same thing to see if others had the way off color torso print on the swashbuckler CMF. This is what to expect with a 33% price hike? Happy with all the other series 12 CMFs I've gotten though. Printing on the other CMFs is excellent which is why I'm so surprised with the swashbuckler.

EDIT:
I watched part of this (not all because it's a bit longish). It's amusing.
President Obama is interviewed about being an AFOL.

Cheap: Chima Legend beasts
Medium: Ghostbusters
Expensive: Spaceship^3
Collectible: Parisian Restaurant

Last three are the very best sets of the year to me.

I guess that's true. I didn't see Palace Cinema listed there as I scrolled quickly down and though high priced was anything $120 and under.

I have been sick with a stomach bug most of the weekend but I finally managed to crawl out of bed and get some photos of the batcave before I have to pull it down (I may do a video first though)

I'll just post the first pic, there's a couple more on the flickr album

Dark Knight Rises Batcave by Brent Waller, on Flickr

By far my favourite part of the entire build was that little chair in front of the batcomputer, It came together really quick and I really liked the result.

I'll get some decent photos of the custom minifigs hidden throughout another day but you guys have seen all those anyway.
