How is Borderlands 2 on vita?

I'm also curious. I've heard performance/frame rate issues. Have those been fixed? Does it matter? (is the game still playable and fun regardless)

Not good. I wish I could recommend it, but only those truly in need of it will endure the performance issues.

Bought a Vita and played it (I loved BL2 on PC).

Absolutely hated the port. It ran so horribly, controls were a mess, fps dips everywhere.

If you are like me and love playing games on handhelds, it was a blast. If you are going to compare it to the console/PC versions, it will not hold up. Very ambitious and I loved it. It did crash a lot, but I never really lost any progress thanks to auto saves.

I find it playable. The framerate fluctuates depending on what is going on. You won't see the slower framerate until you get farther into the game. Playing on PSTV (despite perfect controls) it is much more noticeably on frame rate drops than Vita so I think I will stick to it on the Vita. Purposely never using the PS3 version despite owning it because I probably can never go back. Lots of fun if you aren't a 60FPS perfection person.

Is it cross-save with PS3? Could use it in between PS3 play sessions.
You have to manually sync it from the main menu. Not tried it myself.

Controls and design was fine. But the framerate is godawful, and the promised patches to improve performance never materialized. One patch arrived but it did not help AT ALL.

I played almost 30 hours but just couldn't take the performance issues anymore, it seemed to get worse the further into the game I got.

So much potential, but it was a technical mess.

kinda wish they ported borderlands 1 instead. the AI were kinda dumb and didn't move as much, which makes it easier to shoot.

Framerate issues, crashes, and frequent disconnects caused me give up on this shoddy port early on. The controls are a mess, but can be remapped to make them bearable.

Definitely not worth picking it up unless you REALLY want to play Borderlands 2 on the go.

Same comments as most of the folk here. Honestly, I played it for only 30 mins and then uninstalled it.

Muramasa Rebirth then sucked me in:)

It's about as good as Doom was on the SNES. It's impressive that it technically exists but is the absolute worst way to play Borderlands 2.

Its fun. Obviously its the worst-performing version of the game, but, for a game that massive, I'm still impressed with the job they did.

People really disliked it that much?

I enjoyed it so far. The first boss battle was brutal though but it should be one of the scenes with the most framedrops. Thought the rest was ok but then I never played any other version of the game.

Everyone will trash the framerate.

But for me it was acceptable, however it was the teeny weeny tiny text that made me stop playing. It was actually straining my eyes to try read that shit.

This! If you never played Borderlands 2 on consoles or pc, you'll love Borderlands 2 on Vita.

It's just a great game!

It depends on your tolerance for frame-rate issues.

It's a great game that is totally playable and fun Vita. I had an awesome time with it, and still like playing it a lot. I would highly recommend it unless you can't stand low framerates.

Awful framerate. I thought it was tolerable the first few areas but either it got worse or I became more aware of it as I progressed. Sold it.

Also, it's missing dlc.

My biggest issue is the bullet lag. It takes like half a second for the port to process your bullets colliding with enemies, making every gun feel like a Torgue weapon except worse since you can miss point blank shots.

Firing at moving enemies with proper leading can still result in the enemy scooting out of the way of your bullets, which is just horribly frustrating on top of the framerate and audio issues.

EDIT: And yes, I have the PC version to compare it to. The gunplay is just noticeably worse, no question about it.

Dreadful. The game is good enough that I stuck it out for a while, but it's a really bad job - possibly rushed.

The controls were just pathetic and it was just inexcusable with how poorly it ran and looked.

You can watch the Giantbom video (vita compatibility test), it looks like a playstation 2 game IMO. Would def not play it on a vita.

I was really impressed in terms of how little they had to cut down to get it up and running on Vita but the framerate is too low for me.

They also made zero effort towards improving the menu/UI for the Vita and touchscreens. Extremely poor effort on that end.

They made a lot of concessions to get it to run even close to how it does now. Essentially the selling point is it's Borderlands 2 on the go (with caveats). Too had they kind of stopped supporting it. I think there is one more bug/performance patch coming. They arent even bothering with the rest of the DLC. Its a shame they didn't at least bring over the missing pieces from the first season pass.

I played about 8 hours of it over a roadtrip this summer. It's... impressive that it exists, but, honestly, leaves a lot to be desired.

If you can play it in any other form, even a low-end, still-kicking-in-you-parents'-den PC, do that instead.

Even if not ideal I think it turned out surprisingly well given the handheld platform, having kept it on my memory card since I picked up the Borderlands 2 Vita bundle. However, I'm being a little forgiving here as I'm--for now--biased to playing on handhelds between busy days and preferring to leave the TVs to playing movies.

I have no doubt I could get a better variant by, say, picking up the 360 version relative to this...but it was a very nice pack-in I considered perhaps $20 value when it essentially tagged along with the Vita I was getting. So, good for what it offers on handheld, but if that is not a factor get another version.

I never played a Borderlands game before this. I bought it from the buy/sell thread. I've really enjoyed all the time I've played. I'm a sniper class, and despite the frame rate drops I rarely have problems dispatching enemies. The game is a joy to play, especially having it anywhere you go. Yes, there are issues, but I've played buggier games. There are times though when the game is silly smooth for me, an it is beautiful. I know nice counted at least 9-10 red dots on my radar at many times, too.

A few weeks ago I fired up the ps plus version of BL2, to compare the two. I was afraid I was going to see a revelation in how it looks and plays. The PS3 version loads STUPID fast- and that's my biggest take away from it. I played for about an hour on PS3. There may have been one more enemy on screen in some fights, two to three in others, but every thing else felt fairly similar. The aiming was a little smoother, more consistently.

I prefer the vita version though, hands down. Full price retail might be a bit steep if you're on the fence. But for half off or so, you can't go wrong.

Framerate is too slow for the default controller sensitivity. Turn it down 1-2 notches and it becomes MUCH more playable. It's decent. Sanctuary is where framerates are the worst as well as capt flynt's ship. Outside of that it is not so bad. Not like the PS3 version was much better anyway.

It definitely has more than 4 enemies at once. Lot of hyperbole going on overstating the severity of the downgrades.

If you want Borderlands on the go, it's fine.

But if they ever release BL1/2/TPS on PS4, I'll be in remote play heaven.

Actually I found the decreased enemy count to be a benefit when soloing, making the game a bit easier to manage when solo TVHM. (But it's more than 4 enemies)
