Sunset Overdrive Coming To PC?

The more the merrier.

I'll take it as another sign that MS realized they are losing more than gaining keeping their games off PC.
Xbox One so far has been outpacing the 360 'even though' key exclusives or once-exclusives got a PC version. Titanfall, DR3, Ryse, Garden Warfare.

Most of the people who are eying on getting a console don't care if the game(s) are also on PC as long those games aren't on the direct competitor console.

Clearly a mistake.

It's pretty sad that the most active threads about this game are about the negatives or about it coming to other platforms.

??? Hahaha. This game will definitely hit PC...eventually. Second party games have no reason to miss out on PC sales, especially since the console architecture this gen is so PC.

I personally think this game will be quite mediocre. I enjoyed Infamous 1 & 2, but found myself finishing the game with very little joy left. These games need more diversity. I suffered the same listless feeling with my Shadow of Mordor play through.

If this is true, I really like MS's approach to gaming. I don't think there's a single IP (besides Souls) that could drag me to buy an xbox one, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy the game if it were available on PC. Now if only Sony took a similar approach, I'm too spoiled by DS2 @ 60 fps.

Xbox live, the xbone userface and its games will be on pc... Its what I think

Pay the Xbox live yearly fee once and play ur digital games on pc, xbone, tablet etc... That was the reason for their initial vision I think before the 180s happened

I think its Xboxs vision to combat steam as well as introduce the xbone UI to pc, with pad and kinect support... Microsoft is a software company primarily... Their vision is to push the xbox ui into pcs, tablets, even tvs eventually

Question to the pc only gamers... Would U pay yearly for a Xbox live to be able to join in with halo collection, forza etc... Basically the whole xbone catalogue from now on? All through Xbox UI and be able to party up with xbone friends etc

I know I would, and this what I was trying to say in my post before. STEAM having competition on PC from MS would be great. If that's the case we'll get to play Gears 4 on PC.

Sony and Nintendo will never take that approach as it devalues your platform. Microsoft does it because the majority of their exclusives are made by 3rd parties and it probably cheaper to acquire the games by allowing a PC release down the line.

OK, I am back and looks like you are right thuway. This time I went directly to the person responsible for marketing in italy. I told her what the other woman told me and I was told that the previous info is false and to show her who was it that told me that. I point out the woman and she calls her over and asks her if she had told me all this stuff and she nods yes.

The marketing woman apologized and said that the information was not correct nor official. There is the possibility in the future as it has happened with Ryse and DR3 but have nothing to announce at this time.

Dammmnnn.

That chick is fired.

Of course it'll come to PC next year. So what if console warriors on the internet think it'll no longer be an exclusive? By then the sales will definitely have dwindled on the Xbone and releasing on PC will guarantee more sales (and money).

No i wouldn't. Not when i get an equivalent catalog on steam (and any other DD platform), for free. And halo and forza aren't worth an XBOX LIVE subscription - i would have bought an xbox if i felt they were.

Pad support is not an issue either, the games that need it, have it.

I don't understand why Microsoft would NOT want their internal games to come to Windows PC and thus also MS SURFACE.

Those are two of their big products they are trying to push against Apple, their biggest competition. Strengthening the games on Windows and Surface only helps them in the end. It's a win/win for them. "PC" (i.e. Windows platforms) is their bread and butter, it isn't the competition for the Xbox.

Frankly, at this stage it should be everyone's working assumption that any new IP from Microsoft Studios will get a PC version after the fact. Pretty much Forza is the only Microsoft franchise to have yet to get a PC version.

Come on, SS

How would that work? Would MS have to release their games through their own digital distribution line? Because wouldn't that just be GFW Marketplace which everyone hated?

they can't sell all of their games through steam because that would mean valve would be getting some sort of profit from the games they publish right?

I don't think it's feasible.

You may be right. I don't have any experience with GFWL but how I envision Xbox as a service is booting up the good ol Xbox one UI on a PC and being able to download and play like you would on the XB1. If that is unfeasible just release published games via steam and watch the money roll in. The only downside is messing with their hardware strategy but there are always gonna be people who want to play on PC primarily and others that want the simplicity of buying a console for games.

There is one other downside and that is losing every damn list war due to giving up games as "exclusive" but who the hell cares aside from internet console warriors?

It's anti consumer.

MS at least allow developers the opportunity to keep their IP and sometimes maximise their sales by eventually releasing on other platforms, Sony only care about number one and how a new IP can benefit their platform and their platform alone.

PC gamers? Pfft, they can go beg according to Sony.

Anti-consumer? You seemed to be confused here. Insomniac is their business partner, not their customer and the platform in question here (Windows) is still a Microsoft platform.

MS is doing what they can do to maximize the amount of money MS can make. If they could have gotten Insomniac to sign the contacts and give up ownership they would have, as Sony and Universal did before them and EA would have if they could have.

None of these companies are your friends and they are all as "anti-consumer" as they can make themselves without taking heat or violating law over it, and even then they sometimes overstep those boundaries or miscalculate something.

I hate to say this but the reality is this.

Historically Microsoft exclusives have found their way to PC more than any other platforms exclusives.

Dead Rising and Ryse didn't have PC ports announced until later.

Microsoft doesn't own the Sunset IP.

Almost no MS exclusive other than the trifecta (Halo, Gears, Forza) has remained exclusive to MS. Games like State of Decay which give me a real reason to buy an Xbox are coming to PC in the future.

Most damningly jstevenson hasn't posted in this thread and I've seen him post in almost every other Sunset Overdrive thread. They're great with communication and then they go completely silent.

Yeah not buying it. This has been a problem for a while now and the #1 reason I still don't own an Xbox. If this comes to PC it'll just be another reason for me to wait...despite the magic that is the MCC.

You would be crazy not to at least consider that this isn't pie in the sky nonsense. That doesn't mean it'll happen but there comes a point where you have to stop coming up with excuses and just accept the history.

Except Mass Effect people who bring that up are just stupid.

Great timing.

Considering Ryse and Dead Rising 3 came to PC, it wouldn't be unexpected. It's just a matter of waiting and I will happily wait.

Yep it is a simple mistake: they uploaded the wrong ad ahead of time.
This always happens, and then people act shocked when the game releases on PC later down the line.

I believe that putting up the ad was a mistake, but I'd say the chances of the game ending up on PC are pretty high.

What do you expect them to say? They aren't going to confirm that it's being released on PC. It wouldn't be a smart business move. Seeing as how Ryse and DR3 are already on Steam, this is just damage control. I'll pick my copy up on Steam in the coming months.

lmao. Come on now.

I think it's just a mistake.

But a stupid one for MS to make right now lol

This, IMO, is just all it is. A stupid mistake and unfortunate timing.

It just makes no sense for insomniac To own the Ip, yet keep it an x1 exclusive. What would be the point of owing the Ip in the 1st place? It's not gonna come to ps4, I would bet it'll be on pc at some point.

Obvious mistake. Good lord how is this thread so big in somethig so silly?

"Obvious mistake"

There we have it guys.

You should tell the person who made the "mistake" to list the Wii U next time as well to make the "mistake" even more obvious.
