Nintendo Downloads - October 2014

Sir_Vival

"I don't remember PEWPEWPEWPEWPEW being a part of the Star Wars movies."
This sounds rad, and the price is right! Is it easy to export? Would I need to post it to Miiverse and save it to my laptop/phone from there?

Thanks!

Yeah, right now you'd need to upload to Miiverse and download from there. In the first patch, however, I'm planning on adding exporting to the SD card.

The big indie games usually get promoted. Basically for NOA eShop, the more hype your game has, more it's like to show up.

Armillo, 1001 Spikes, Shovel Knight, Guacamelee, Steamworld Dig, etc. All been featured. They always feature the big guys.

They just suck at featuring us little guys in any way. It's one of the issues a lot of us devs have with NOA's marketing for the Wii U eShop, as they only market you if you have hype. So if your a new indie with new game noone heard of, good luck!

Perfect example of this I think might just be Gunman Clive for 3DS. Small $1.99 game that wasn't featured on 3DS (NOA eShop that is) at start. But it blew up big, with NOA caught with their pants down. With all the hype it had a day or 2 after it launched, NOA caught on and made it featured (as it should, since it's awesome).

don't get me wrong, I love the Wii U eShop for devs, perfect place for all of us. NOA just kinda sucks at featuring lesser indie devs. :p
I am guessing this has been communicated up the right channels? If so what kind of response have you gotten?

Going off Joe's post, it doesn't appear that NOA wanted to announce any "coming soon" games this time. I was looking forward to seeing what other Virtual Console games we would see in the near future. Not to downplay how nice it is that we're getting Demon's Crest, Gargoyle's Quest II, and Kirby all today, of course.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Maybe they wanna make a big deal out of the DKC games? November -is- the series' 20th anniversary if I'm not mistaken...

Shovel Knight probably had the biggest eShop promotion of any indie title. They of course had the large banner at the top, but they also changed the layout of the store for the game. They had Shovel Knight sprites and music, I believe.

Man, lotta stuff today. Probably getting Demon's Crest.

Any Virtual Console "Coming Soon" announcements in this week's press release or no?

I made Pixel Paint, which releases tomorrow. I'm excited. A bit less excited once I found out exactly how much is releasing on the same day =/ It was originally supposed to launch last spring but life got in the way. It's a pixel art drawing application - I wanted to make something that really put the Wii U's specifics to good use.

Anyways, I've got no money for marketing, but I did make this:

The top Youtube comment called my fiancee mega cute, so at least I've got that going for me.

Damn you are still a junior. You could have made an OT. Not sure if dev can do that on NeoGaf tho.

Don't think so, only people uninvolved with the process, IIRC. I remember one time where a guy flew over and had a friend working at Insomniac, I think, and he was doing the FUSE OT, man it was a mess. People mobbed on him from all over the place.

I don't think they can. Would technically be direct advertising. Someone else could make an OT though. I did make a thread for the trailer today, as it's awesome.

Someone can feel free to make an OT for Pixel Paint (or perhaps turn my thread into one?).
Feel free to also make an OT for ZaciSa :p

Harvest Moon: Minecraft will be coming soon, I want to see how it fares.

I somehow missed the minecraft features of that game. Seems like a great fit though, and would make it much more focused than Minecraft, that factor eventually turned me off MC itself.

Looks great! I've been wanting a pixel art app.

Kinda wish I could get rid of the little question mark on the bottom left of the screen while playing GBA games on the gamepad. It's a little thing but it's there.

All these VC updates are making me happy. Square Enix get your shit together! If you can give us Actraiser ages ago you give us some Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia too. Maybe even Terranigma too.

Just to clear up the Off TV play question surrounding Costume Quest 2, a dev from Double Fine told me the patch has already been submitted to Nintendo. I take this to mean the chances are pretty good we'll actually see it come to be.

Cool. Will buy when the patch goes live or the EOY (due to DDP), whichever comes first. :)

My initial Cosmophony impressions are rather positive. It's pretty derivative but fun nonetheless.

BTW do we have any news on the X-Type Plus patch adding Gamepad support?

How is Woah Dave? I keep forgetting it's by the Bit.Trip dudes because they changed their name. Didn't realize it was only $4.99, seems like a good price.

I recall Demon's Crest is hard. Not sure on GQ2, but I'm guessing the addition of save points make the games easier.

Totally forgot about the name change and their new game. The Bit.Trip games are some of my favourites of all time, I'll need to pick this up.

Grabbed Stealth Inc. 2 and Demon's Crest. I'll also grab Gargoyle's Quest 2 when I get my ddp voucher tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to finally finishing Demon's Crest and so far I'm liking Stealth Inc.2 a lot more than the first one.

Does Demon's Crest on VC recreate the extreme slow down the original suffered from?

Will probably get it regardless when it gets a EU release.

Have any Canadians seen Pixel Paint on the Wii U eShop? I can't find it, it's not under the new releases, and searches yield nothing.

It's a straight up golden age-era arcade game, nothing more nothing less. Haven't found fault with it so far. A lot more fast-paced and immediate than any of the Bit.Trip games, it's super speedy.

According to the developer on Miiverse, the Wii U Sku of The Fall has been such a success that it's completely funded development of the second and third episode.

The Fall: Episode 2 is due out early Fall 2015.

The wait...
