Oooh. That is really nice. Has DC/Vertigo done this for any other OHCs (excluding omnibuses), or is this the first one? Either way, good stuff.
Definitely let us know what you think when you start reading it! I'm interested to hear some other opinions on it.

Read the first chapter as soon as I got it and I loved the setup, had a lot of Samurai Jack vibes. And I just read Ronin was one of the major influences of the cartoon. I'm saving the rest for the weekend.

Something to get you freaked out just in time for Halloween:

After I carved my The Long Halloween pumpkin, my dog barked and growled at an empty chair for an hour.

Yes

Here's mine. Did the kitty cat for my daughter. And batman for me. Didn't come prepared so I just hand them both before carving them

Great job! Those are really nice.

Cool! Glad you're liking it so far!

Anyone dressing up in a comics-inspired costume tomorrow? I'm just gonna stay in this year, turn the porch light off, and eat all of the candy my roommate bought for me to pass out... but next year I think I'm going to put together a Rasputin costume (the Mignola version).

I'm going as Harley Quinn.

I'm envisioning a bearded version of the dude in the middle:

I haven't dressed up for Halloween for a few years. The last time I dressed up was when I was in Indiana visiting my mom's side of the family. My 5-year-old cousin dressed up as Batman and I barely managed to squeeze into a Robin costume that was probably meant for a 10-year-old.
There's a photo of it somewhere. I need to dig that up.

Weird, my fam is from Indiana too...

I would absolutely be down for a ComicGAF secret Santa! The only part that would be a bit tricky would be ordering things/shipping internstionally. Is there a way to use UK/German Amazon and a US credit card but ship to an address overseas?

I'll probably give it a go eventually but it is very low on the wishlist. Marvel all around needs to step up their collection releases.

How about a ComicGAF Secret Santa, we'll be a month early to set that up!

There has been a trade or two I've been meaning to take off my hands...

I kinda had to. I usually swing by Barnes & Noble to grab it, but they don't seem to get new volumes of this series anymore. :(

Just to throw this out there again (with the caveat that of course free shipping is $50 so you still may be better off with IST if it's a once in the blue moon thing I guess), but rightstuf.com is pretty much the place to go for manga (and anime), outside of Dark Horse stuff where IST wins out. They even have a nice discount card that isn't hard to get value out of if you buy much at all.

Yeah, I use rightstuf now and then, just not all that often. I think the Toradora Blu-ray set was the last thing I bought from them.

Haha. No way.
It's becoming more and more clear that we are long lost brothers.

I know that certain credit cards can be used internationally without any additional fees, but that's generally the fancier cards that have annual fees. I'm not sure if Amazon has it's own thing set up where you could do that though.
A simpler solution would be to make sure the UK/EU folks are matched up with other UK/EU people, and likewise with everyone in the US. But then that would take away from a little bit of the fun of getting randomly matched with anyone in the pool of people.

Also, in my continued march to clearing out my manga backlog so I can finally dig into my comics backlog because I'm weird like that, I'm finally getting close. Going to read the last volume of Excel Saga tonight. And man, does that series get weird. Like, just kind of a bizarre read, but I still enjoy it. Just got a few odds and ends left after that, so hopefully I'll be able to be a proper participant in the next thread, rather than that weirdo who's always coming here and talking about manga instead of proper American comics!

I was looking at the Candy Swap and Secret Santa thread and it seems like it might be the norm to request that you want to/don't want to ship internationally. It might be a good idea to make a form like the other threads of what people want to ship too, along with an idea of what they want (example: girly hijinks) and maybe list some stuff they already have so they don't get same items again.

I finally started reading Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers on Marvel Unlimited. This is some pretty awesome, and pretty heavy, stuff. I'm loving it, though I am dreading actually catching up to the recent comics. Not sure how this reads monthly. Though I suppose its only New Avengers that is monthly, right? Either way, its something that obviously reads better in collected form.

I'm loving some of the callbacks to his FF run (one of my favorite runs of comics I've read so far). Are some of these characters new, or are they just obscure? Smasher, Hyperion, and Captain Universe in particular I've never heard of. Well, that isn't true, I've heard of Hyperion but only in context of people talking about Hickmans Avengers run.

The art on Avengers has also been awesome so far. I hope it keeps up. I noticed the artists have changed at least 3 times already I believe, and I haven't even gotten to Infinity yet. Just read the first 10 issues (and first 5 of New Avengers). So far it seems pretty easy to keep the two separate, but I'm assuming that changes at some point.

In other news some of my friends want me to go to NYC tomorrow for the Halloween Parade in the village. I've got no costume, and while I think it would be fun for a bit, not sure how long I could handle NYC on Halloween. Too long around crowds just for the sake of being around crowds isn't something I'm very fond of. Any of you guys ever been to the Halloween Parade in NYC?

On a related note, Colossal Titan was a big letdown. Other than making his grand entrance twice, he didn't do shit for the rest of the anime/manga.

Well, that dude
was a total pussy who just took orders from the guy who turned out to be the Armored Titan. Annie is still rad as fuck, though. Hope she wakes up before the series ends

Im going as Joker from Death of the Family

I have the uniform already from work,, got a tool belt from a buddy at work.. got gloves and the mask. I just need to find a name tag patch still.
I talked my wife into going as Harley

Hyperion was apparently already a thing. There were different incarnations of Captain Universe and Smasher before Hickman's Avengers, but these particular Captain Universe and Smasher both debuted on the last page of Avengers #1.

Just League Dark is always good. I just don't talk about it here because nobody gives a crap.

I give a crap.
I also trade wait and am only up to the Horror City arc.

Has Justice League Dark or Constantine been any good, recently? I'd love to do some Halloween reading.

The first trade of Constantine was good, but it was nothing like Hellblazer. Half of it isn't even horror. I think JLD has the same problem so far.

So what's up with all those Marvel trolling teasers?
Are they Secret Wars promotion, or something else?

We dont know yet, but many expect them to be something similar to the Edge of Spider-Verse miniseries. One Shot Story to introduce the multiple universes, that are going to play a role in Secret Wars.

I read more than I play. I enjoy hype for games more than playing games. It's messed up.

I've been getting that way the last year or so... I'll be hyped about a game or a buddy will constantly tell me about it.. Then i'll get it,, and like it but hardly play it.

On that note anyone getting Call of Duty Advanced Warfare?
