in before "lol at the faces"

I liked what I saw. I really liked it
Heh, I just can't believe how horrifyingly bad many of the faces are. Boggles my mind.

Nevertheless, looks awesome otherwise. I don't get big in to games like this usually, but this one is squarely on my radar.

Nice. Thanks. I was trying to do my own earlier but got lazy and just wanted to see if they were going to release a clean version themselves and then you came along! I went ahead and cleaned it up a little further, since you left in a few white marks. All credits go to you though. Job well done.

Now I can go mark my bingo board like I wanted to do earlier.

And I'm a bit late but it's amazing to hear the full version of this piece from that very first trailer. I hope they keep adding more music to that site. Also for those that want to download it, they renamed the file so it has a new link now http://xenobladex.jp/media/xeno_sound.mp3
Thanks, avatar updated.

I can't wait. I just hope the other composers are returning as well.

The character design is going to hurt the game sales-wise and it's a damn shame.

They should at least consider the possibility of letting the players customize everyone in the game.

Monolith Soft's environmental designs are beyond gorgeous.
I really wish their artists were in charge of the environmental art in Zelda.

Arguing about this game's graphical quality is meaningless. It certainly doesn't compare to something on PC or PS4 but that doesn't mean it's not outstanding on its own. The vastness of the world is breathtaking. The game looks great and the scale is just epic. It doesn't need to look better than Shadows of Mordor, if it delivers a great visual experience as it is then personally I have no complaints.

After playing something like Super Mario Galaxy, I've come to the conclusion that a vusual stunning experience isn't exclusively derived from machine power. My 2 cents.

It ultimately doesn't matter with the rest of the game looking amazing, but maaaan those faces. "Remember that super ugly facial technique we used in Xenosaga 1 that everyone hated? Fuck it, do it again. Kids love them animes."

New LA?

The setting seems all over the place, too. It reminds me of Star Ocean 4 a little bit. Space travel will obviously be a thing, but it's pretty jarring going from beautiful open fantasy fields to a modern suburban city. Using that modern of a setting is a really, really hard thing to get right in a JRPG. The only example I can think of doing it right was Shadow Hearts.

Again, even if the story completely shits the bed, this game will be worth it for the gameplay alone. I'm just skeptical about some stuff.

Oh man, the music on the website is so good. I was kind of worried it wasn't gonna be the main theme since we hadn't heard a rendition of it since the reveal trailer but I guess it is huh <3

Aostia is really an overhyped user when I see ambition and result of what this user does.
Btw, I'd like to see more about the scan-function. Is that supposed to work like Lego City?

I have no doubt that this game will be amazing but I'm not the biggest fan of how it looks. Graphics look great, but the art direction is a big step down from Chronicles.

Let's talk about party members. So based on that title art it looks like the two girls and the heropon make up your initial party.

I hate these character designs so much. They went back to those awful Anime doll characters they used in the Xenosaga series. Why? This game is called Xenoblade, not Xenosaga. The two females are the worst, like living plastic dolls. They look terrible, and so out of place in the otherwise mostly realistic style of the game.

Xenoblade didn't have the best designs ever but they were a million times better than the X characters. They didn't look like aliens or living dolls.:

I also miss the lush colors and the whimsical settings that Xenoblade had. Hopefully there'll still be areas similar to this in the game:

WTF!!? Who the hell said anything about ND? Seriously, stop shitting up the thread with posts like these. It incites stupid fanboy wars and prevents actual discussion about the game.

It's odd how the aliens look so much better than the human characters - that horned guy's skin looks much more natural than any of the humans', and the cat girl's eyes are the least jarring of any character in the game.
That's because it's a lot easier to get non-human stuff closer to photo-realistic because it doesn't trip the uncanny valley senses.

I'm seeing a lot of "damn the environment looks good, but man, the characters are fugly as heck" comments. Its like you guys never played any jrpgs before. Its an artstyle popular in japan. Maybe you guys just prefer realistic looking faces. Ill never understand that preference though, they look so bland and uninspiring.

They're bad even by those standards. It's like some unholy mashup between anime and something else. It's mostly just the eyes, even for anime-ish eyes they don't look right.

I am betting the other characters were made using the character creator and not hand-crafted, then they added in details like the Monado hairpin.

I'm pretty impressed by the game. I find that the visuals still hold up even after all the new generation consoles, and the scale is just crazy.
It does look similar to FFXV in a lot of ways. It doesn't look as good as FFXV (visually) but the world will likely be much larger and I'm certain Nintendo didn't spend almost 10 years making it and it likely doesn't come close to FFXV's budget.
I find it more interesting as Xenoblade X is like FFXV but with transforming mechs instead of a car.
Xenoblade Wii was really fun. The most fun lengthy JRPG I've played in awhile, especially on consoles so I'm looking forward to this. Hope it fixes some of the original's issues.
having played GTAV on ps3, i feel the same way, and i'm not talking about the gif, i'm talking about the gameplay trailer,
Come on now.

Please dont' bring this into the topic. It isn't really relevant and it's just inflammatory

Do you guys think that

1. This is using the same engine that all other first-party Wii U games seem to be using?
2. If so, they're going to use some of the open-world tech created for this game to create the more open-world experience in Zelda Wii U?

I like a ton of quests... but please don't put the best gear behind a long sequence of very boring and very time consuming MMO style fetch quest(s) please.

Yeah, this is a good description. Plastic anime dolls. Definitely a departure even from the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

No, there a departure even from the original. I've seen plenty of Japanese style character designs. And these are bad, and absolutely clash with the rest of the visual style, which is pretty realistic.

Good God, man. You might want to find something better to do.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Chat / Multiplayer confirmed?

In one of the trailers there was like a chat window in the bottom left corner and some translators on youtube kinda confirmed it must be some kind of MP chat.

Edit:

Judging by how popular some of the Xenosaga characters are, Kos-Mos in particular, a lot of people apparently like Tanaka's designs. I'm not one of them, though I actually like the more abstract, doll-like look in general (PSO, Blade & Soul). Still, a year and a half after the reveal, I think I got used to the X designs by now.

I'm sorry, i don't find static lighting, ps2 level character models, and grass made out of sprites impressive, shadows not reacting to light shouldn't exist in a 2015 game.

Oh, it's ninjablade. Why am I not surprised...

Newsflash: the Wii U isn't as powerful as the PS4 or X1.

Maturity, bitches.
I hope keeping track of sidequests is much easier this time around. Just telling me where they are at certain times would be useful rather than just telling me I could find them somewhere on the whole region's map.

Eh, I love Japanese art, and still don't think these characters look all that great.

IMO, they looked better in the original Xenoblade, even with their low poly counts.

Then again, this game features character creation, so I'm sure we can create something that doesn't look too bad.

Honestly hope what they do this time around when it comes to monsters is make it really obvious that said monster is part of a quest you have. I don't care if it's a mark above their head, a different colored targeting box, whatever. Just make it so I don't have to open the menu everytime I want to see if said thing is one of the 50 quests I have in my log.
