ZombiU 2 listing spotted on Amazon France

that flipping last part of the game

I enjoyed that part, honestly.

It was like a giant gauntlet run. I remember taking all of my good weapons out of the chest before having to run to London Tower from the Queen's room thinking, "Yeah...I'll be fine, look at all the ammo and stuff I have. This'll be cake! 15 minutes later I'm getting to the top of London Tower with about 20 zombies to my back and only the cricket bat left, thinking that I'd just have to make it to the top...the radio alerts you that you'll have to clear a way for them to land to get you.

I died.

Well, the game also went:

"What? You were defeated again before killing your last character to get your weapons+items back? Your last character including the items and weapons are now gone for good. Have a nice day and fuck you"

Doing so made the atmosphere and game actually work. But such a mechanic simply isn't compatible with the typical gamers (+ reviewers) nowadays. It's a game, that you actually have to beat, while the game tries everything to break you.

that flipping last part of the game

It made you actually fear dying which I appreciated.

The last part of the game though.....
I thought I had to keep shooting Zombies with the turret gun until they were all gone. They could have explained that you were supposed to move on better. I knew a few others that thought this too. They never stop coming. I did think that your friend kicking you out was awesome though

Hopefully this one has a realistic dev time. The first one, while great, was clearly rushed and lacked polish in some areas.

There is so much potential for a sequel so of course this rumor won't be true. I thought they really underutilized the scanning/hacking component in the first. It was such a good way to lure the player's attention away from his/her surroundings. For the most part sadly it was just simple 4 digit key codes. These parts needed to be well thought out puzzles instead of finding hidden numbers on nearby wall. The logic behind the zombie attacks while using the code locks was way too simple too. It might throw a zombie at you once you entered the code screen or throw them at you after you finished entering the code. Handling the electronic locks wasn't as stressful as it should have been due to this predictability. For example if you failed to enter the correct code or took too long maybe the electronic lock would buzz and stir up hidden zombies behind a nearby boarded up door causing some serious consequential danger or just scare the shit out of you while distracted. Not everybody thought the gamepad integration was needed but I seriously adore concept. I want a sequel to take it a step further.

This thread reminds me I need to finish survivor mode sometime. Bullshit grenade suicide 80% through the game :(

"Amazon France has previous form in accurately leaking game details before publishers are ready to reveal them. To date, its list of scalps include Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the Killzone Trilogy, the European-only Assassin's Creed Anthology, Grand Theft Auto V on PC and a PS4 bundle for The Last of Us: Remastered. All of these turned out to be accurate."

I didnt know they have been that accurate with leaks

Well I guess I'm going to eat crow. The question remains if this sequel is next gen consoles only or will the Wii U get a port.

It would be pretty screwed up if it was the former. Either way I highly doubt it will be Wii U exclusive this time.

You're suggesting it could be for the Wii 3, Xbox 4 or PlayStation 5?

No one really knows what it sold, if I were to pull a number out of my ass I'd imagine something over 600k by now with all the bomba sales and stuff

to really want this to be true, the original is the best horror game I've ever played

It must have done over a million by now if you include digital sales I reckon, although a fair amount of those total sales would have been with significant price cuts.

I've been thinking (or hoping lol) for a while that Nintendo might fund a sequel, a bit odd that Ubisoft have let the trademark go though.

Does that mean that the IP is up for grabs though..? Anyone know of the legal ramifications of someone developing and publishing a ZombiU sequel now that the trademark is available..?

I'd love Nintendo to fund a sequel, I'd buy it Day One without a moment's hesitation.

Edit: And those thinking the sequel would be available for the PS4 and One might want to think again. You'd have to fundamentally change the way the game works due to neither system having a lag free touchscreen available. You could perhaps use a Vita or Smart Glass device such as a smartphone but the lag would kill the game on those platforms. If a sequel is coming it's going to be Wii U exclusive. And if it's Wii U exclusive I'd put money on it being funded by Nintendo.

Two assault rifles and a mountain of carefully saved ammo :) I did horribly at the
carnival
but my man skipped and whistled his way out of the end.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Something cool... which i don't care about is actually something lame, man. lol

You're making that about you.
I might think it's cool. Lots of families and kids or whatever might think it's cool.

Enough people might think it's cool that it actually becomes cool.

Just because you don't think it cool, doesn't 'make it lame' - it makes it lame for you.

Which is what I was saying... it could be cool, but people on this forum, which is a tiny minority, and primarily M18-34, probably wouldn't care :)

I was just joking. I'll let you know if i think it's cool or lame when i find out what it is ;)

So what is it?

Stop toying with my emotions! I'd LOVE a sequel.

Don't believe this is happening at all. Prove me wrong!

I think people need to relax saying it sold over 500k or even a million.

That said, I'd love a sequel. Genuinely scary at moments and the tense, hopeless atmosphere worked so well with the gamepad.

Do you think it's a port or an actual exclusive?

I must be the only person on Earth who'd love an exclusive Raving Rabbids game. I don't even know where the hell they were going with Rabbids Invasion. That's just episodes from the show that you "interact" with right?

That's... DRAGON'S LAIR PEOPLE! :p DON BLUTH DID IT BETTER!

My favorite wiiu game, would love to see another.

Even if on another platform they can still call it ZombiU by just making the U the first letter of a second word. ZombiU(nleashed), ZombiU(niverse), etc.

In a world where F3ar exists, seeing an awkwardly titled ZombiU game on another platform doesnt seem impossible.

Outside of more polish and whatnot, what would everyone want to see in the sequel, should it happen?

  • As far as story, I'd like the main person you use to be a part of the story, and once they are dead, then you start getting the recycling of other survivors. I'd like Prepper to make a return, but I'm not sure how they could do it, considering the ending of the first one. I guess
he could just add to the list of people he is screwing over and/or you could play with him.
  • A few different melee types. Nothing huge, just a few to help with variety and still keep it balanced. Have some double as actual tools to do things around the environment so they make more sense instead of just being a new things to swing around.
  • I'd keep the tracker on the gamepad the same. Tracks movements, not actual zombies.
  • Penalize harder for death, even in regular mode.
I haven't played it in a while. What else would be nice to have?

Last time I checked it sold about 700,000 iirc and that was like a year or 2 ago

It was a good game. I think its qualities are being somewhat overstated here, as there were some very rough edges alongside its many positive qualities. It was clearly hamstrung to a great extent by a small budget, and any sequel would need a significantly larger one to fulfil its potential. Personally I'd like to see:

- A much larger and more open and coherently connected map, allowing freeform exploration with a greater number of sidequests and secrets to find.
- More branching storytelling. Connected to the above. Would be cool to be able to make choices in terms of who to ally yourself with and more, with the consequences playing out more dynamically than ZombiU's largely linear experience.
- Slightly easier access to lost weapons and ammo restocks. Losing all your stuff after dying twice adds great tension to the game, but the game is absolutely terrible at giving you chances to locate lost weapons (I remember certain weapons being marked as present in a certain location, only to be absolutely impossible to find once there). Certain weapons also never seemed to have any ammo outside the initial magazine, and while scarcity is again part of the tension, making those weapons effectively redundant after a single use is taking it too far. A middle ground would be good.
- More melee weapons. Cricket bat is great, but variety is the proverbial spice of life and some quieter alternatives to guns/grenades would be terrific.
- More stealth and adaptive AI. The game wasn't really open enough to let you sneak past zombies to any great extent, with the exception being the use of the overpowered flares which would always distract zombies and gather them in one place no matter what. These should be gimped (maybe zombies aren't distracted by them after they've spotted you, or they get curious where they're coming from if you throw too many) and counterbalanced by more opportunities to sneak past threats 'organically'.
- Greater access to the Prepper's technology. I was surprised the game didn't give you greater access to security camera feeds and such on the fly, as the gamepad is such a perfect fit for it. Would greatly add to any potential stealth gameplay.
- No more 'wave after wave of enemies' sections. There's no game in which these have been enjoyable, and they particularly work against the fact ZombiU is much better at suspense than action.

I do hope they made the loading and the whole "Die and take 20 min to go back to your corpse to kill it" gameplay better.
Because I ragequitted so many time out of the game.

Would buy for robust multiplayer mode on Wii U.

Would not buy for any other console, or Wii U if they don't expand on the multiplayer.

Hopefully it doesn't go to another console, because the multiplayer would be pretty much impossible, unless you wanted to use extra shit.

that flipping last part of the game

The last run through of Buckingham was one of the best parts in any horror game.

I suspect that Nintendo may have noticed the good will the game has and somehow obtained some degree of rights to it, hence why Bandco is developing it and not Ubisoft.

Ubisoft said they have had the game finished for a while now, but was waiting for the Wii U to establish a bigger audience/consumer base before doing so.

It's happening for sure.

Seriously. I only just this year tried the multiplayer out and it's become one of mine and my friends favorite activities on the Wii U. It sucks there's no variety or options or depth to it, but that this is literally like the only game that has done what seems like such an obvious implementation of gamepad/tv use makes it by default one of the best experiences on the system.

They said they have a completed game they are sitting on. By no means did they imply it was ZombiU 2, and I sincerely doubt it could be, because there'd be no where near enough dev time to have finished it and sat on it.

God, ZU was so good. I don't think I've ever experienced such tension in a game like that before

Yup, and it's precisely why I can't see a sequel coming to any other platforms. The game's stress and tension is possible because of the second screen on the GamePad. And if you take the GamePad out of the equation then that stress and tension that's fundamental to the first game simply wouldn't be there. It would be 'just another zombie game'.

The weirdest thing, but maybe Nintendo are compensating Ubisoft to use the IP, and are funding Bandai to do it?

I've heard about weirder stuff. Given how terrible the original game sold, and Nintendo's willingness to fund sure bombs and sequel to bombs, I guess it could actually be true. :)

Anyway, will be stoked if true, and buy for sure! ZombiU was an excellent game.

for those of you who never played it are in for a real treat, my game of the generation so far...

I still can not get my head round what reviewers did not like...

they made a game like real life....duh.... where 1 zombie....yes just one zombie can kill you if not managed properly...

3 zombies you are screwed.... I swear reviewers hated the fact you could not just mow them down

Hopefully it's on PS4 and PC so it actually has a chance to sell something this time. Loved the first, wouldn't mind an enhanced port on other platforms at the right price.

.

This. This is one of the things that made me think "This game is kinda broken to be fair..."

There are other exemples, i just cant remember em. But sometimes the game did felt broken... and amazing at the same time.

I remember that I handled 3 at once one time.
and got shredded the other various times
. It's doable, but you have to think everything through and execute the plan perfectly.

I really love it that a single zombie can kill you within seconds. You have to be on your guard all the time.

After Bayonetta 2, I think that's actually a possibility.

I mean ZombiU is the best selling 3rd party game on Wii U. And it's something really special. Beloved by plenty of people. Extremely hardcore. Uses the gamepad in a perfect manner. It actually would make sense for Nintendo to buy out the IP and let some other developer create it.
