It's still a strange reason to swear off the game though.
Essentially throwing away a 100 hour campaign loaded with content because there's the option to purchase stuff in the completely separate multiplayer mode. To each his own though.

>> optional microtransactions on the multiplayer on a giant, 100+ hour RPG
Well, I suppose someone has to give a shit, but it won't be me. I've been up all night and I'm still pondering cutting DA on for an hour or so of gameplay before I crash.
I mean, it's your prerogative of course. If microtransactions in multiplayer are that much of a dealbreaker then by all means wait for a price drop.
Something to maybe keep in mind though is that all multiplayer DLC for the game will be free. So if microtransactions being there allows BioWare to put out free DLC then it's a trade off I'm willing to accept, especially since, after a dozen or so multiplayer hours, I don't see any real legitimate reason to spend additional money on the game.
and Hissing wastes done....ugh. Im even more angry after doing everything because the zone would actually be good if it was half the size, the amount of dead space is ridiculous. Oasis and Western Approach were both desert-y and didnt have this problem
Its a shame too because the
zone wide quest with the dwarven tombs
is great, has nice loot, and the
final tomb just happens to be, of course, where the dragon is
... thats a pretty epic ending to that quest
(well the dragon isnt the end, he just happens to be outside the last tomb)
but its completely marred by the zone just draining your will to live
still, the xp was great at least (lvl 19 zone and I was 20) and its one of the few zones with dwarven stuff in it so thats cool. 70 hours in, Emprise du Lion is the only zone left, and 3 or 4 story quests. Time to drive this puppy home
Also 6/10 dragons done, the hissing wastes one gave me a bit of a hard time because its fire resistant and im...well...a fire mage mostly
Of course, some game producers will try a money grab if left unchecked, but most never work. Hell, Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Unity fiasco with the embargo only left it as the loser.
DLCs itself has gotten better with many compelling ones that are at times even better than the main game. Also, some gamers go out of their way to check, and report for any signs of bullshittery. Some even mend the game, like Durante for instance, which led to a better Dark Souls 2 experience for everyone.
Buy this game, there's that micro-transaction, but it doesn't hurt the core of the game at all. Hell, it's what I've been missing. A huge RPG where the first act itself took me 30 hours to complete, but I'm not even bored of it yet. It's a labour of love from developers who learnt the mistakes they did in the second game. It's something that's deserved to be bought at full price.
Was just about to ask. The banter bug is getting to me. I only noticed how quiet everyone was after I read about the bug. Now the quiet is driving me nuts.

I was going to say the same thing about the banter bug! I've stopped playing for now because now after the reports it's especially noticeable just as you said.

i don't even want to play the multiplayer
but i know that if i give them full game price now,the next game the microtransaction options will be worse, because they are costantly pushing the line of what is acceptable, just like what happened with DLC,they started innocent enough, and now we have games chopped to pieces, retailer pre-order bonuses and all that bullshit.
everytime we stay silent, for them is a "yes, it's totally ok to do that",and next time they'll make a new concept for a game, the first question for them will be "how much worse we can make this before people start complaining?"
it happened before,it will happen again.,only way to avoid that is not giving them money, just like what happened with the X1,they wanted to make all digital,we didn't give them our money, they pulled back.
also, the entire concept of micro tansaction on a 60 dollars game is bullshit...i get peopple wanting to save time, but why should it be with money?if the developers really care that much about "adult's time",why they are profiting from that..it's not like they do any work, they just unlock for you something that they could unlock for free.
of course for F2P games it's different, since the money has to come from somewhere, but since i'm already paying 60 bucks for the game, there's no reason why i should pay more.
it's not a prerogative of mine.

Yeah, that's the problem. You keep thinking about companies doing this without being unchecked which they are, and have been.
It has been 8 years since the whole Horse Armor fiasco, and things have gotten A LOT better since then. Your argument is moot since we have had a lot of quality products for the last 8 years, with only some being shit with how they handle DLC and microtransactions.
I finally reached Skyhold and Corypheus has been revealed to be behind the breach. I recognized him instantly when I saw him, same talking darkspawn from the Legacy DLC of DAII.
I sort of felt... disappointed when they revealed him to be behind it all. I mean I all ready sealed him away as Hawke in DAII and here he is again. I was expecting someone new I guess.
And where is The Architect? I let him live at the end of DAA to stop shit like this from happening, to keep his fellow darkspawn from doing anything stupid but he just left and never came back... what a guy.

well,we agree to disagree..the dlc problem has gotten out of control and still is,only thing that changed is that most people just got used to it..and that's what they are trying to do with micro transactions too
anyway,we are entirely off topic, you keep playing the game,i'll wait for it to be cheaper

I respect your choice and understand your reservation. But I just wamted to point out the ME3 had the exact same Microtransactions for MP. As a result all new characters, maps, or other MP DLC was entirely free of charge. It's actually the best DLC model I've seen to date.
there's a ridicules amount of background lore and the story continues from the events in the previous games but Dragon Age Keep (free app that lets pick your choices and sums up the plot from DA1 & DA2) should be enough as an introduction
I recommend tackling the first two games, but I'll give you a different reason to do it besides all the fantastic reasons people will normally give you. By the time you complete those two titles, Bioware will have (hopefully) patched in the fixes for most of the major glitches. DAI is a fantastically buggy title.

Thanks. The first two are ridiculously cheap on Origin anyway, so I'd figure I'll get those no matter what. Just wanted to know whether I should hold off on Inquisition or not.

With the Single Player campaign being this enormous, I kind of treat the MP as another, separate "free" game with microtransactions that came out the same time as the single player.
I went assassin with my archer and it's working out great. "Hidden Blades" (plus the upgrade) and "Full Draw" out of stealth are your bread and butter. Take poison weapons and the upgrade from the sabotage tree.
The "knife in the shadows" passive gives you an even greater damage boost because it makes sure your skills crit when used while stealthed. "I was never here" removes the cooldown on stealth whenever you kill so that's a must, the rest are nice to have for damage/armor penetration boosts. Knockout bomb is for cc. Then we have Mark of Death/Doom which is great against tougher enemies (the damage in combination with mark of the rift is ridiculous).
From the subterfuge tree you can take ambush later which provides extra armor penetration out of stealth.
My skill setup is stealth, infected wounds, mark of doom, knockout bomb, overkill, full draw, leaping shot and mark of the rift.
I take leaping shot over longshot and explosive shot because it gets me away from enemies, helps regenerate my stamina with the "looked like it hurt" passive from the sabotage tree, does good damage if you have a decent crit chance and fire it into crowds and buffs the next shot.
It feels like Bioware wanted to get back to making KOTOR like combat, but threw in some stuff to give lip service to what DAO was. It feels entirely designed around playing in real time with a controller.

How did you handle the minions in the Hissing Wastes Dragon? They fucked me up good during my first attempt. I somehow managed to kill the dragon on my second attempt after 30 minutes. Crazy shit. Almost died like 10 times.
So, I hit level 10 with my party (Rogue Archer Assassin Inquisitor, Cassandra, Blackwall and Dorian) and unlocked everyone's specialization. I decided to respec everyone to better utilize their respective Specializations - I spent almost 2 hours trying to find the best combinations of skill trees to go with the Specializations. This is for a Nightmare playthrough and just tested it out.
Inquisitor: Rogue Archer Assassin - I took Stealth from the Subterfuge tree (no upgrade), then went through the Archery tree from the left side going down for Full Draw (Stealth + Full Draw + Assassin Passives which guarantees criticals while in Stealth = 2.5k damage at the start).
Cassandra - Templar/Vanguard/Sword and Shield - she focuses on providing buffs to the party, debuffing enemies and causing 600% weapon damage in the process, and generating some Guard.
Blackwall - Champion/Battlemaster/Vanguard/Sword and Shield - the ultimate tank that brings the fight to him.
Dorian: PyroMancer (Fire/Necro) - cooldown passive from Fire tree, scorch fools and make 'em panic, then make 'em panic even more with Horror, while Walking Bomb creates explosions everywhere.
I feel like Nightmare will be a cakewalk from now on, especially when I get Spirit Mark for Dorian, which is essentially going to be a 5th party member that's doing 175% weapon damage per second for 45 seconds.
More in-depth party build post in a bit, going to bed now.
8/10 of the dragon done(two low lvl dragons left), I've beat the highest level one and i had a big issue there...
Not with the dragon but with the game, when the dragon summoned adds my FPS dropped to about 5-10 and stayed that way untill the dragon died from 40% to 0% it was HORRID! on PS4 btw, never had any fps issues untill that arena / fight.
Got awesome gear now and i have to do last story mission and i got about 2 area's left.
I'm afraid im going to blast right through it seeing that my archer crits for 900 with auto attacks and about 4-7k with skills. Mark of Death got me up to 14k on a dragon.
I'm playing on hard btw i did enjoy the game and i might make a tank for fun
Also some dragons got armor, i'm using Cass and Bull as my guard destroyers they do about 300% extra on guard
Finally got the last Vanatori Tome in the Exalted Plains to unlock Rift Mage.
My group of lvl 12's walked into the Dragon that resides there and got completely destroyed (apart from Cass who managed to get almost 1/4 of its health down on her own before dying)
Another question - I have done practically everything in the Hinterlands (I think) but I still cannot find a path to the 'Northern Hills' where a looter quest resides. any idea how to get there?
Mmm never knew the shock status combined with weakness triggers sleep. Any more undocumented combo's available? I can only find one shock skill in lightning, anyone know of any others?
I was going to say the same thing about the banter bug! I've stopped playing for now because now after the reports it's especially noticeable just as you said.
I'm really, REALLY enjoying this game so far, but holy crap, is it just me or is the party banter far more annoying than it has been in the past games?
I feel that most of the banter is petty bickering over why Templars/Mages/The Qun suck, and I end up shouting out "Both of you just SHUT UP and help me kill these damn spiders!"
Does this get any better as the semblance of unity within the Inquisition improves, or am I stuck with this whining to the end?
So I killed all the dragons and ,to my dismay , nothing really happens . I was hoping for some cut scene or in game acknowledgment. Oh well .
Does anyone know if the dragons you killed are displayed at

Reached Skyhold last night for my custom world state to go strange. Varric started referring to a mysterious "him" he would consult, which turned out to be Hawke, only my Hawke was female. When I spoke to Varric the game gave me the option to create a custom Hawke or use the default one. But the custom option just backs out of the conversation and the default one crashes the game (PS4). Is this a known bug and is there any work around?
