Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

The only reason that this game isn't coming for the xbone that I think off is probably because it's going to be a free to play game. Hell, it even looks like one.

Otherwise, it doesn't make since.

I know I have a post somewhere in my post history saying this game would never be a console exclusive because it makes absolutely zero sense. I still think it makes zero sense, but apparently I was wrong.

This is massive if this truly never comes out on Xbox.

I also remember Ono saying that Capcom doesn't have the budget or resources for Street Fighter V and here we are. Given Capcom's troll history, I feel this would be a timed exclusive.

Given Ono's statements before about the possibility of SF5 happening, I'm going to assume Sony had some part in its funding which is the reason for the exclusivity.

Obviously it's big for them in terms of strategy, but this could be a Bayonetta 2-like situation where the game wouldn't be happening (at least not any time soon) unless some first party publisher stepped in.

So Lost Planet 3 and Remember Me lost enough money that capcom didn't want to make SF5?

I don't have hard numbers on hand or anything but the terms of this moneyhat must be good for Capcom considering they've had a number of games that performed below expectations (DmC, LP3, Remember Me, RE6, etc.). The thirst is real though it seems odd to make a console exclusive SF since it's such a historic franchise that sells well on many platforms.

Do some people really believe Capcom wasn't going to make SFV without money from one of the big three? lmao

Anyway, getting it on PC, as I can still use my PC/360 stick.

People who are saying Sony moneyhatted this, do you really think Sony would have allowed a PC version if they moneyhatted it?

That probably wouldn't have stopped them from moneyhatting it. That's tangential to them vs. Xbox.

Sony done something, certainly. No mention of an Arcade then console release. Sony probably decided to foot the bill, even partially.

He explicitly said he didn't have the staff or the funding. You are grasping at straws.

Pretty sure your grasping at straws. He didn't say it wouldn't be made. That is distinctly different from a game that wouldn't be made. We all know it would be made for nothing else than the fact there's a dedicated community and Arcades are still an important revenue source.

While shitty, there's going to be 15 SF5 releases this gen, so I'm sure whatever enhanced edition they're planning for in 6 months, Xbone will get that.

Basically this. I ain't even mad when Ultra Alpha Super Turbo HD Remix Street 5 will be out in 6 months after the last release. Guess I'll wait until the "FINAL. WE PROMISE. (We don't promise!)" version of 5 happens.

And maybe they'll get rid of the hideous art style they have going on here. Ew, even worse than Street 4's.

If it is exclusive to the PS4 for consoles, then I think Capcom's management problems are far deeper than any of us envisioned. They seem to have almost no confidence to go in alone on any big release this generation. They would have canned Dead Rising 3 without Microsoft's support, and if they can't even be bothered to take a risk on Street Fighter V of all things without Sony being a partner, then the company really has a dismal future.

Yeah, if Capcom is not willing to fund a new, numbered, Street Fighter what hope is there for series like Dragon's Dogma or Mega Man?

I don't care a lot of this because of what MS did with Tomb Raider, but I hate how people are. If this was MS everybody would be freaking out but because is Sony is totally ok. Even with Nintendo founding Bayo 2 people were angry.

Nonono.

It's great if console people don't view PC as a platform in their exclusivity shenanigans. That allows for stuff like this to happen. Don't fight it!
LOL good fucking point, because its so true

Of course im still super fucking salty about RotTR not being on PC at launch, so clearly microsoft viewed it as competition for the one. Uggh...im not fucking playing that game on console after experiencing the first one at eyefinity

As for street fighter, I didnt enjoy 4 at all. Early trailer for 5 looks better, and the art style while being in the same vain doesnt look nearly as awful. I might give it a try on PC since I can still use my PS3 stick there

Oh my, this is amazing, but.... why is it not on Xbox One?
Pretty strange, but yet, a great MEGATON to see this becoming a reality :D

Sony does it all the time with indies that are pub fund/etc and has announced several "first to console on PS4" games at big conferences, they're fine with it. If anything they seem to view PC as less of an opponent than Microsoft because we live in Bizarro world and most of MS' game effort is determined not to support PC.

Yes because Microsoft is totally not about Free To Play fighting games with 3D graphics and 2D gameplay, certainly not.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
I hope this trailer is not the only thing they show at TGA's or PSX because that was pretty meh.

If this does end up being a paid exclusive by Sony, wouldn't they have to dish out more to potentially keep the inevitable "Super" and "Ultra" editions exclusive as well? I wonder if the payment and/or funding covers all versions and future updates.

I do hope this is a case of Sony bank rolling the game hence the exclusivity and not the other option. It's still a shame to see a big franchise like this become exclusive to one console over another, same as with Tomb Raider.

I'm not a fighting game fan (I'm rubbish at them) and while SF is iconic I wonder how big a deal it really is? Is it more for old school gamers, do younger generations even play fighting games in great numbers anymore? I half imagine most kids would be super frustrated and not stick with them thanks to modern gaming culture/mobile etc. They're hardcore games after all.

What I'm wondering is, is this actually a big deal outside of gaming circles?

Hmm, my initial excited reaction got brought down by the fact that it looks exactly like street fighter 4, but with extra flashing lights. It looks the same not just in terms of graphics but also in the way the characters move and attack. I love street fighter, but hated 4, so, I guess my hopes aren't too high for now.

Very awesome announcement. Stoked.

If the PS4 continues outpacing the competition, expect more and more exclusivity situations like this, especially from Japanese developers. Nobody complained about third party exclusivity when the PS2 was on top.

Why would Capcom do this? And how much Sony would have to pay for such a deal?

Same shit as Tomb Rider Rising smh (except it's PC too).

Wondering now why non of the BIG3 picked up Mega Man. Someone could have made a decent budgeted exclusive out of that title.
