Uncharted 4 Gameplay Demo [Up: Sony - Was running at 30 fps]

A bit disappointed by 30fps (I hope it's just for the pre-alpha), but the gameplay was absolutely amazing. I love the new mechanics, added verticality to encounters and improved stealth.

This is building up to be one of my favorite things ever.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
I've captured those 2 from youtube, it's amazing how those skin textures look:

Yeah, that's the same level of quality as in the trailer. +blur because of YouTube, of course.

Looks good but not mindblowing or anything.

Im reminded a bit of Halo 3, where graphical expectations are too high because the dev released the best looking game on the previous system.

Man, graphically that was as impressive as I was expecting. Gameplay-wise...I saw a few holdovers from Uncharted 3 that I'm not too thrilled about. That fist-to-fist sequence with the first enemy was reminiscent of those impossible-to-escape brawls in UC3 where you would get lit up by other enemies while you were trying to get out of a QTE fight with an enemy. The level seems wide enough to allow for fun platforming while fighting, but it could also turn into an UC3 situation where you get enemies spawning on ledges behind you lighting you up and making fights an annoying sequence of trial-and-error.

Anyway I'm going to assume that the team learned from UC3 and that this game is going to be great.

Oh, I don't know. Just look at the thing? Your eyes work, right?

It's pretty much a generational difference in quality. The E3 reveal is not something we're going to get during this generation of consoles. It never was going to be.

Different lighting plus lots of DoF...Here is a character model from the final cutscene:

Looks just as good to me. This looks better than models in the Order to me (which still looks incredible) point blank

Well, that's Uncharted alright.

Graphics looks amazing and I'm sure the story will be compelling as always.

Let's just hope they get aiming right. Uncharted 3 had huge issues with this.

Looking at the 1080p Youtube video, which is still heavily compressed, and the game definitely looks more impressive than first impressions suggested. There's a nice amount of detail in the scene.

Still, it doesn't feel like the leap I was expecting. It certainly does seem possible that it will run at 60 fps in the final game if that's their target, though, which isn't a bad thing I suppose. If they can deliver visuals of that quality at a stable 60 it should prove rather impressive.
Don't need leaps in graphics them smooth transitions I want and the levels. I want to go in that cave rather than climb the rocks

The gameplay looks super fun if you are an uncharted fan. I couldn't care less how many p's or fps's there are.

demo looked great but id be seriously blown away if the final game looks like that and runs 1080p60. doubt thats gonna happen tbh with the amount of foilage and open level of the map. locked 30 maybe, 60fps.. nah... unless some downgrade happens...

This was actually amazing. It looks and definitely feels like another uncharted. Since it's so early and this game isn't due for a while, my expectations come launch and E3 will probably be out the window.

Oh, I think the game itself looks awesome, which is great, but I was definitely hoping for something that would completely raise the bar on real-time visuals. Maybe not a fair expectation...

Seems like a rather larger gap between realtime cutscenes and actual gameplay.. can't wait to see a really high quality video though.

We need confirmation that this runs at 60 frames per sec or not.

Also if the final scene indicates a semi open environment ala Tomb Raider.

In terms of detail , shaders, and what not it looks rather similar to other games released. But the animation quality is of course top notch.

Yeah, nonsense.

Check Snake29's post. You are wrong.

Huh. OK. Well, I'll just move on, then, because rational views are clearly not welcome.

I think people really need to look at that E3 reveal. There is so much going on their graphically that was never going to happen. The environment deformation, the insanely high quality bokeh DOF, the quality of his hair, the way everything interacts with the water realistically and how it actually accumulates and drips from the character and objects, the foliage and lighting and post processing... it's all massively, massively higher quality than what we should expect to see on these consoles or even a high-end PC. Especially if we want it running at 60fps.

Or we can ignore all of that and look at skin textures (that may or may not even be in a real-time cutscene) and say there's no difference!

Don't get me wrong. I'm excited for this game. I think it looks fantastic even in its current state. I just don't think we should kid ourselves here.

All the people who are claiming that there has been massive downgrades since the E3 trailer and the E3 trailer had perfect IQ....do note that the E3 trailer had very muted colours, heavy DoF and very dark scene and was from a cutscene, you can have all of that terrain deformation, water dripping down the nose and such in a controlled environment like a cutscene. Those factors help immensely.

Pretty underwhelming. Nothing wowed me and it was outright dull at times. It looks like the same ol' Uncharted with a fresh coat of paint. There's nothing new. And that new coat of paint isn't exactly a large leap over the old coat.

Game has framerate issues too. There were multiple sequences that were in the low 20s fps range. Hopefully ND can polish it up to be a solid 30. No way this hits 60 fps.

I did like that the sequence seemed more "open" and less on-rails than previous Uncharted games.

This will probably be one of those games that Uncharted enthusiasts will love...but those that didn't like or were otherwise uninterested in the older Uncharted games probably won't be interested in U4.

Best animation blending ive seen.

Crazy stuff from ND as always

the cutscenes are always a higher rendered models than the actual gameplay. Look at The Last of Us cutscene models and then look at the gameplay ones, even in the Remastered edition

This actually looks like the first Uncharted game I'd like to play. The previous ones were pretty but the gameplay was always lackluster.

So is it gonna be 60fps or 30fps? Seems a bit unprofessional to claim 60 and then show the game running at 30. I believe in optimization as much as anyone else, but doubling the framerate in a year?

Yeah that looks better or at least on par with Order.

I think the only thing that I didn't really care for was the super familiar rocks and cliffs setting since it all looks samey. Other levels will look more impressive I think.

Cool, I'll wait for a non torrent download link.

Looks really good, but the first Uncharted definitely left a bigger impression in terms of graphics. I remember doubting whether it was real time graphics at the time. This one looks like a worthy natural progression from 3 in that department.

The demo underwhelmed me at first, and it wasn't entirely helped by the sheer familiarity of the gameplay BUUUUUT once it opened up into the gunfighting section I was grew more and more impressed by the dimensionality/verticality being presented.

Even if it really is just the same ol' Uncharted with amped up location I'll still be there day one.

Oh and the twitch chat explosion caused by that glitched death fall was glorious.

Which I think is a fair trade. There's no use in wasting resource on such subtle details for the gameplay model when the player will almost never see those details while playing. It would be a waste.
