FFXV demo only comes with first shipment of FF Type-0 HD "Day One" copies

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
At least Type 0 HD is a game. FFXIII trial came with Advent Children Complete and never got localized so importing + purchase price easily put it over $80.

lol wonder how much that code is going to go for on ebay

How much you want to bet Square Enix releases a different demo for FFXV closer to its actual release for free and to everyone?

It sounds a lot like the old regular Square demo disks, like the ones that came with Brave Fencer Musashi, Parasite Eve, and so on. I kinda miss those things.

I'm supposed to pay $60 for a 2011 PSP game with updated visuals... That's just great.

Nobody's forcing you? You can say "no" just like any other consumer product.

Was already going to get Type-0 day one so this doesn't affect me.

Little did we know at the time it also included a teaser trailer for XV.

i swear to god this motherfucker knew exactly what he was doing this stupid fuck
I respect the anger is still there, I'm in the crying in a corner phase now. Oh and looks like I'll bite and get this day one then even though SE these days XV will probably suck ;_;

I'm not sure why this would be surprising to anyone. The demo is an incentive for people to buy it new. If you don't want to pay $60 then wait until the price drops.

So, i must preorder the game to get the demo? Can anybody confirm it? Jeez, Square Enix, you do one step forward, and then 3 backwards.

Still, i'm such a sucker for FFXV that i'l do it nevertheless.

I get that it's not ideal for some, but this doesn't surprise me. They were really trying to push the demo as a reason to buy Type-0, and this will probably help move units the first couple weeks. But I'm used to these day one bonuses (Atlus games, for instance), so I guess it doesn't bother me as much.

It makes sense.

The demo is probably the main draw sadly for Type-0 (funny since for years people around here were crying for them to release...and now that they are....it's too expensive and apparently not that good according to some....which makes you wonder how much they really wanted it). So this prevents anyone who "needs" demo from waiting until the game hits bargain bins to get their fix.

It honestly comes down to how much you want that demo..do you want it enough to pre-order a game? If yes...then go for it. If not, then oh well...nothing lost.

In other words,it's another hostage situation.

Pretty much.
Type-0 is a bad game...Can't believe I wasted so much time playing the game.
The Japaneses already know it is a bad game, but now with the bribe of FF15 demo, they will buy it again.
For the US? They think Type-0 is a good game, and the demo is an incentive to preorder.
Because when the reviews are released, the sales will crash.

its 90% likely they'll put the demo on PSN a few weeks/months after release anyway. Clearly they're doing this to boost the sales of the retail box.

Not according to Square Enix:

First, as Tabata-san said in a recent episode of Square Enix Presents, this demo is exclusive to Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. We’re never going to release it as a stand-alone piece down the line. Secondly, it’s intended to be a special gift for those of you who purchase early — the demo will be limited to the “Day One” edition of the game, meaning that only the first shipment is going to have the demo in it. So if the demo is something you think you might like, we highly encourage you to pre-order or to be quick about getting to the store on launch day, March 17th, 2015.

so it's a bad game now?

Its funny because in the year past, there was such a clamor for it and it was called the best FF in years.....

and now suddenly...nope it sucks?

I can say no, I just don't like what SE is doing here. I don't think the game should have been $60 in the first place but thought the inclusion of the demo improved things. Now that's not even a standard part of the package. They're gating it off even more to try and get higher pre-order numbers. I just think it's kind of scummy.

It's a business.

and besides, I doubt the game will light the world on fire and the demo will ship with the first shipment...I picked up Borderlands recently and got the "day one" freebies with that too.....this was like a month later.

I think many are over-reacting here (I think the entire situation was even explained back at E3) and honestly, if you don't think it's worth it...don't buy it...it's really not that hard, especially if you think it's "scummy". Don't support it and then turn around and complain about it. The Demo probably wont even be that good or extensive anyway.

I don't think of JRPGs as a genre that demos well. Other than Bravely Default, I can't think of a particularly good one.

Best FF in years isn't a terribly high bar for many people.

And this business needs to stop, demos are supposedly for free. Saying "yep okay" "well you don't like it don't buy it" and things only gonna get worse. Its 2014 as mush as they like to admit they can't hear you they do.

When was the last good FF?
12 right?
Yeah, people were right. It was the "best" FF in years.
The bar for FF was very low after 13.

Type-0 characters and gameplay are pretty bad. I bet a lot of people will quit after 3-4hrs after doing a few sidequests.

I don't care, youtube impressions from the demo are enough for me. I don't care so much for a playable demo - at least for a final fantasy game.

eh? You aren't owed a demo. If you think it is scummy...then don't support it. Its simple really.

The it's a buisness quip was due to how it is legit smart business for them to do it this way. FF Type 0 probably will bomb. The Demo was going to get a few extra sales than normal...why not make it so you got to buy the game at full price to experience it...instead of giving it away free. Now Type-0 sells a bit more at full price..and who knows maybe fans are thirsty enough for FXV that the entire first shipment sells out. That is a win.

People need to stop thinking these companies are moral and shit. It's about the bottom line. and this is a good move in that case.

Not for the customers persay but a god move for SE pockets (especially since they probably don't lose any money if it backfires really).

It really doesn't have to be good to be better than the garbage that the FF Franchise had to endure in the last years.
If you compare Type 0 to FF13 or so = great game
Compare it to stuff before = lol nope

It is decent and worth money but probably not full price.
Though i want the FF15 Demo so i have to pay *sigh*

Buying a PS4 just to play this demo early isn't worth it; but I will definitely buy this game, go over to a friend's house, and resell it afterwards.

Yeah, no Square Enix. How about this misery of a company began to do what fans actually want, release a Final Fantasy XV demo and then quickly release the game after that, release good games and not shitty remasters and remakes?

I don't understand the reaction from some of you.

People just looking for excuses to bitch now.

But it's like voting. Doesn't matter.

Gaming is really starting to hit the brim of what's acceptable nowadays. First DLC, then on-disc DLC, then season passes, then in-game apps, then microtransactions to speed things up, then pay to win, then games released without enough content.

People keep saying, "B-b-b-b-but slippery slope! Don't buy if you don't want it!" Sometimes the slope is winter wonderland. In this case it's not a big deal due to the niche appeal, but the trend will never really stop. Don't pretend it will, and don't pretend anybody here has power over it. Not supporting something means little when said thing continues propagating and gets worse.

It's weird because Tabata let open the floodgates on FF XV - a very un-SE thing to do. Their development time had only become a laughing stock.

You don't support it but don't expect people to either buy it or deal with it knowing its a scummy business. Practices like this become standard because a company started it and got away with it.
