Great Gaming Epilogues (SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)

What are some of the best epilogues in games? A couple of games come to mind when I think of great epilogues.

My favorite is Hitman: Blood Money -
The entire game you think that Agent 47 is dead. At the very end of the game, Diana (his handler) places his guns on his chest to be buried with him, and gives him a kiss. The credits start to roll as Ave Maria plays, but if you wiggle the sticks around, you wake up and proceed to kill everyone in the room. Diana's kiss contained the antidote to the drug that made 47 appear dead as part of the final mission.

Here's a video for Hitman if you're interested

Another favorite of mine is Red Dead Redemption -
Playing as John Marston's son when he is older and then tracking down and killing your dad's murderer. Amazing. And then the credits roll and the game truly ends.

What are some other good ones?

I always liked MegaMan Legends'. You got to walk around the town and talk to everybody after saving the town, which was kinda neat. I'm sure there are plenty of games that do that but that's the one I remember. Not sure if that really counts as an epilogue or not. :p

Peacewalker, just because the epilogue is actually completely crucial to the game story. I actually think it was a dumb decision as I didn't know about it and only played it because a friend told me I never saw the "true ending". Previously I had just put the game down after the credits rolled.

Earthbound

The best of all time, after you defeat the final boss you're free to go around talking to everyone in the whole world, the credits roll when you get home and talk with your mom.

Mother 3 is also amazing,
All the characters say goodbye to you, the player, even Lucas who was silent the whole game.

Halo Reach was pretty neat.
You're alone on the planet fighting wave after wave of covenant until you die

Persona 4 ending and the Persona 4 Golden golden epilogue. Feels on overload there.

Valkyria Chronicles,
so cute seeing Alicia and Welkin married with a daughter.

And Red Dead obviously.

Congratulations, you've saved the day. However, Makarov is still alive and after Soap's death, Captain Price is out for vengeance. What better way to end the trilogy and exact you revenge than by playing as Price and storming a night club?

I liked Dragon Age: Origins a lot.

It's thorough enough to feel satisfied with the outcome of your choices after the game is completed.

Demon's Souls had a sad, evocative dénouement that wrapped up the tale of the foolish king perfectly. He really wanted the best for his kingdom, but was too blind to see the consequences of his actions.

God I hate when people call this the final boss and complain about it being anti-climactic

I liked Spec Ops: The Line
If you didn't kill yourself or got killed at the end there is an Epilogue where some soldiers get into town and find you. You got the chance to be saved by them or kill them all.

Fucking hell, game is just rereleased on Steam. Spoilers much?

Kingdom hearts, always beautiful music and if you played right you always get a preview of a future installment.

And of course the feels.

Lunar 2; just about every town gets new dialogue that shows how the world is doing after the main story, and the new content and events wrap up just about every remaining loose-end.

You've defeated the final boss and are watching the ending cutscene with Lara back at Croft Manor when you hear a vehicle on the gravel outside, the intruder alarm goes off and - suprise! - one more level to play. A fun one too with Lara defending her home with a shotgun and a ton of ammo.

Sorry mate.
That game is too old to hate spoilers at this point.

Its unfortunate it took this long for the game to be released on PC.

Anywho on topic.

Halo: Reach - Trying to survive as long as you can.

Spec: Ops the line - Choosing whether to accept your insanity, or be saved by the marines.

Dragon's Dogma.

You kill the dragon that was terrorizing the land, and everything, I mean everything gets worse. The story goes from being serviceable to being amazing. The previously amicable Duke of Gransys wants you dead. Half of the main city collapses into a never-ending pit full of trials that you have to descend and face. The air is filled with ashy nastiness and the monsters plaguing the land become even more demonic and powerful. Proper dragons (previously, you only fought drakes) start to show up all over the place. And you end up having to kill yourself like... twice.

That's a game that needs a sequel.

Call of Duty 4's Mile High Club.

Oh man. Great choice. Never did beat it on Veteran.

I love the Fire Emblem epilogues. They talk about what the characters do after the game is over, and they change depending on who you paired who with.

Spoilers are spoilers it doesn't matter how old the game is. A lot of people haven't even finished it yet.

Reach and Spec Ops spoiled for me as well.

Damn. Thought this stuff would be a bit more vague like my Peace Walker post, or else tagged as such. I'm out of here.

Star Fox 64.

The General offers them a job in the army, but they tell him to fuck off and then run off into the sunset.

Mile High Club from COD 4 comes to mind because of how fun it was but it had nothing to do with the story. Blood Money definitely has a great epilogue though.

Oh God.
Especially right at the end when Makarov's lifeless body is swinging around by his neck, and Price is sitting back and enjoying a cigar while police sirens can be heard in the background.
That moment was so blatantly badass and I can't help but love it to death. Perfect conclusion of the trilogy.
