Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

How do I ground pound?

When you're in the air hold right stick. Then move the stick (can't remember if it's right or left) and it will then move the target indicator. If the target indicator is red, that means you're not high enough in the air. If it's white, when you release the stick you'll ground pound.

You can't just jump in the air and ground pound though. You definitely need a bit of distance. In Empire there's enough verticality which makes it play out really well. It's hard to hit though, especially since the target indicator moves slowly, and people can boost out of the way if they see you do it.

So no 4-player split screen in the final game huh? Dammit.

Well I'm jealous of all of you getting to try out the game

There should definitely be some kind of tutorial in the main beta so that you can learn the new moves.
Successfully pulling off the slide into a kill is so damn satisfying...

About the Rocket Launcher:

Depending on the role the Hydra plays, they might have split up the role; single-projectile clip, homing weapon vs. the Hyrdra doing a multiple-projectile clip w/o homing thing. So it might not be a question of just replacing the model, it could be a whole new weapon.

Not really understanding the posts when people say ''it's not Halo'' honestly this just feels like a more accessible version of Halo but it's still very much Halo.

See this I disagree with completely. None of the changes they made in this game that people think makes it more casual or like Call of Duty has done that... in fact it's done the opposite. This is the biggest the skill gap has been since Halo 3.

Played my first game went 19-12 my initial impressions are:

Cons
* Base player movement is way to slow, you have to be sprinting or thrusting to move efficiently.
* Ground pound is pretty much worthless unless someone isn't paying attention (Or is this a pro?)
* The spartan talk needs to be toned down. I don't care if someone next to me picked up an AR.
* DMR "ACOG" scope takes up half the screen with scoped.
* Feels more like COD:AW than a good Halo title.

Pros
* Gunplay felt pretty good.
* Getting a perfect kill is really satisfying.
* They upped the time limit for multikills which will encourage people to engage enemies.
* Weapon timers create a showdown for power weapons.

Beta is fun. Too bad 343 lost me with mcc. Not getting a dime from me for this. Fix your broken product before you start a beta for the next product

3v4 industries presents the halo 5 mp beta. I'm done going back to halo 3 co-op. If you can't match 2 teams of 4 players together stop making video games and try doing a bake sale or something.

Is this a joke post? Being upset about MMC makes sense. Being upset about an early beta does not...

I hope I'm not the only one fighting these controls.

I actually like it. However, just like when I saw the initial leaked footage, the ADS ruins it for me, and I think it has a lot to do with why I kept feeling like I was fighting the controls. I just want the basic, classic schemes back with standard zoom function. Pressing the stick to use ADS really doesn't make it feel like ADS, but more of a clumsy zoom sort of like how Bioshock Infinite had zoom on the thumbstick as a default control despite technically having ADS, which I didn't like either. Bumper jumper had default stick zoom too, which really frustrates me. It's my main control scheme on most other Halo games where I don't focus on using AAs.

I really don't like ADS, even if it's a "cosmetic change". Seriously, if they just put standard scope back in I would be happy with what I'm seeing. I don't see any going back from it though.
Yeah, they better add classic scope as an option in the final game, ADS is awful.

Pretty pleased with my first hour of gameplay!

Nothing amazing, but I'll take it.

LOVE the game. Can't wait to play some more tomorrow. So pleased to read so many positive comments on GAF, also! I was expecting the opposite.

Are the SMG bullets bouncing? That's cool.
Jup, you can actually hit yourself with your own bullets that way.
Ninja pointed this out a long time ago when he first played it. I wasn't sure why nobody noticed it.
I must've missed that, I did read about it in an interview some time ago. Still annoyed that ADS has more than just a cosmetic presence for multiple weapons in Halo. Why 343i.

Great impressions. Why is the Xbone AC bundle 499$ CDN in Futureshop but the Sunset Overdrive bundle is 399$??? I need the US equivalent deal.

I'm talking mostly visually. The game seems to reward you a little bit more by patting you on the back for kills ect, For me ADS plays in to that as well, I think a lot of people feel they are being more accurate when using ADS even if it's purely a sub conscious thing.

You still have to work for kills against decent players though!

Phew, that's good at least. What's different about it from the regular plasma sword?

Lore:
"The Prophets' Bane is Arbiter Thel 'Vadam's personal energy sword.[1] The blade's name is a testament to 'Vadam's staunch opposition to the Prophets' leadership ever since the latter days of the Human-Covenant War and the beginning of the Great Schism."

Gameplay:
"The Prophets' Bane is a playable melee weapon in Halo 5: Guardians and will be featured in the game's multiplayer beta at least on the map Truth. The weapon can be wielded exactly as a regular energy sword. However, the lunge attack has a greater range, effectively increasing the player's movement abilities."

:)

Doesn't even feel like a Halo game anymore. The movement is ridiculous. Sprint, jump, boost, jump then boost, levitate in the air while aiming then boost.

That's not Halo man.
