Not really, it runs on a more modern engine than 2 or 3 and thus is easier to remaster. 2 and 3 would need a full on remake and Capcom obviously isn't willing to do that.
It's on Wii.

This is great news. Zero isn't my favorite in the series but I did enjoy it quite a bit.
This gives me hope for an eventual Code Veronica HD. That one would be the best one to remaster in HD, since its environments are all full polygonal 3D, not pre-rendered. It wouldn't suffer from any of the (IMO, ugly) background filters that we've seen in REmake HD.

The only thing that stopped me from playing it was the inexplicable absence of the only good tank control option in history: Control Type C
It's already in HD same as RE4.

I didn't care much for Zero. It was just not very fun for me and was a chore for me to get through. It remains the only "main" Resident Evil I have never replayed. Regardless, I can definitely see why they would do this considering it wouldn't be too much work to remaster.
That's dangerous thinking. If that happens and it sells well, Capcom may give us nothing but Steve Burnside from here on out.

Oh fuck yes! I'm really stoked to finally play REmake soon and I kinda figured I'd never have the chance to play Zero. I have no interest in getting a Gamecube for it so I would be all over an HD remaster of that one too.
I kinda hope Code Veronica is also coming. I'd love to have the entire series on Steam.

As much as I despise Zero from a story standpoint and in some of the design/pacing, I still enjoy it as a RE game. Glad to see it being given another shake.

Zero is getting remastered because there was a GameCube version released. Trust me, you wouldn't want a HD remaster of 2 and 3.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that REMake and RE0 were the first Resident Evil games I actually played from start to finish. My first console was an N64 and Survival Horror wasn't really in my gaming lexicon until I first played REMake/RE0. I played almost everything EXCEPT Horror games on the Dreamcast lol. Makes sense that I wouldn't feel burned out at all on RE0. Maybe things would have been different had I played RE2 and RE3 first.It was just such a small part of the game though, I'm surprised it left such a lasting impression on somebody
But yeah I get what you mean, I guess. I just wish they did more of it. I actually thought Zero was a little too reliant on the typical tropes / structure of the games and that's why people found it stale at the time.
But that RE2 cock tease was just the worst. I will never forgive Capcom for that
I'd prefer RE3Make first btw. Who doesn't want a truly remastered Nemesis?

Some stupid decisions made the game my less favorite classic RE game ( controlling 2 characters at the same time / having an AI partner and no storage box -.- plus the less interesting locations of the classic ones ).
But I will take the remaster at any day and enjoy the hell out of it over any new RE game.

This would be amazing as Resident Evil 0 is one of the only games in the franchise I've never played. Hell I've even played trash like Operation Raccoon City, but just never got around to playing Zero.

To be fair RE3 was the last game in the series with decent characters. Well, Outbreak was good aside from Yoko but their characterization was mostly in the background so it was harder to screw them up.

I recommend it. You won't like everything it brings to the universe, some of the characterization, and that it's a bit of a poor man's copy of REmake, but it's still a solid RE title.

eh, the story and characters in 4 were almost as stupid and the game was piss easy and not all that interesting once you got to the castle. RE0 at least had some fun new mechanics, better puzzles and was a little less mindless than 4.
Leech Hunter > Mercenaries as well.
