Didn't the Wii U version suffer from some decreased visual effects, though? Not sure if those issues were patched.

The Wii U version definitely has some slowdown but overall, it's a pretty good port. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to enjoy the Wii U version because I'm so used to playing with dualshock.

Happy New Year Tekken GAF!

I wish you all guys OP amounts of health and well being, because it's most important.

Beside that I wish Tekken 7 will turn out great despite everything and that we'll see Tekken x Street Fighter in action and it'll blow our minds!

I also wish rumors on Virtua Fighter 6 being made are true because Tekken needs it's old rival and VF is awesome anyway.

I feel like, because I've seen Tekken 7 so early in its life cycle, (regrettably), it just makes the wait harder. The game is not even out in arcades yet and I've probably already seen hours of footage. Talk about spoiling a game for myself.

Hoping it's a great, healthy, prosperous, and successful year for everyone.

Also this.

I feel like by the time I finally get the game, it's gonna feel old.

Well, there's opinion that copy paste loctest version is not the real thing and we'll see "the true Tekken 7" in February/March.

We can only dream but Tekken 7 really got to have more in it's "guts" then what we saw till now.

Going based on past versions alone, the final arcade game has often differed substantially from the original location test(s). At the very least, I hope they really do wonders with the character models in the final version. The backgrounds/stages/etc. I'm fine with.

Just wait until it's actually out and the Asian community figures out all of the optimal play right in front of your eyes for months (or years!) until you get it. Yay!

I was disappointed ever since they announced they were going back to 1 v1. HOWEVER my hype went through the roof though when they announced the guest artists and unreal 4 thinking we were getting a Tekken 2 --> Tekken 3 makeover.... Then the first screens came out... And shortly after we saw the first footage...

MOlKZ.gif

Why did I set myself up with such high expectations!!!! Art and animations are 97% recycled! Ah well, It's still Tekken. The series that made me the gamer I am. Come the 20th Anniversary, I was in the middle of making a big celebration thread until we got.... abomination scene stealing. My emotions at that moment in time....

522934.gif

But yeah, I now have made my expectations significantly more realistic. And as someone who's played a ton of Tekken Revolution, Mr. Naps's impressions have basically cemented my view on the game. Even now I really can't see much left to discover. As someone who already understands how Tekken Revolution works, as I watched any Tekken 7 video I pretty much know what will happen before the move even connects. Even in the newest Lars video whenever I saw the player attempt something that didn't work I knew before he attempted the combo that wouldn't work just because of how similar the hitboxes and gravity already is. It's unfortunately a massive buzz-kill :(

Sorry again for the negativity, but the current game isn't at all what I had hoped for the next big numbered Tekken release. I don't see myself watching a lot of Tekken 7 either from taktak's channel and such once it releases. I don't see much new ways the meta can evolve either looking at the system compared to what I can get watching a TTT2 match. I'm just gonna wait, enjoy whatever Tekken I have and see what happens when it comes out.

His face looks pretty badass.

I like the top of the outfit. The saber is kinda "really he has to have a saber?" and the pants look like he just got from business meeting and forgot to change them.

Rest is top notch. If his stance implies TKD I'm gonna go crazy. Baek reincarnation, yeah!

Now I kinda hope Miguel comes back. Those 2 seem destined to fight for see the true "manly man" award.

Top half of arab character looks really cool. Bottom half doesn't fit.

I understand the negativity surrounding Tekken 7, but I'm still hyped for the game simply because I hope for good netcode^^

His style is definitely an odd combination of traditional and modern garb.

Just hope he turns out unique and original and doesn't fall into some kind of generalized stereotype.

Like it though. Hope it works out.

And replacing Yoshi? Let's not go there. Happy thoughts on New Years please :)

Wow. The top half of the Arab character's design....wow. Really good. In fact, one of the better designs I've seen in awhile.

Harada atone for your sins and make a gameplay trailer where Shaheen destroys Lucky Chloe so she's no longer lucky.

@AAK dude. I wouldn't go so far to say it's 97% recycled. You have to remember you only have location test footage so far and within the span of two location tests, they've shown drastic improvements (even though more work is still being done).

Case in point:

1st location test:

jnd9hHsTOe22O.jpg

2nd location test:

jgSvT3v5GB2yx.jpg

I'm happy people are critical but it's also good to remember location test footage is all we have so far and the team is hard at work trying to make this game look and play good.

But those aren't the improvements I want. The graphics in the first location test (aside from the framerate) were way better than anything I ask for. All I ask for is new art.

Hwoarang went from:

to

to what we've been seeing from the last 10 years:

I want to see those changes to see the character grow. How about Asuka looking a bit mature like the right version of her concept art:

And at Hwoarang's stance, how about an animation update to that stance similar to how Law/Nina stance got changed from Tekken 5 to Tekken 6... or at least any character with the legacy stance animations.

Also, Does anyone else notice how Bob, Miguel, Jinpachi, (and I think True Ogre) have unique crouching animations? And after that Kunimitsu & Jinpachi have unique running animations. How about extending that to the rest of the cast as well instilling more character. But the BEST thing I'd love for them to do is bring unique hurt animations to characters on grabs. I LOVE how in VF5 the throw animation changes when going against a heavy compared to the other cast. If Sarah wants to suplex Taka, she doesn't do her proper suplex, it becomes a suplex that gets botched into a Russian leg sweep style move. I love those touches to a fight.... and that was done in a game from 2007. Tekken should be more than capable of learning and implementing that sort of characterizing in the gameplay like that game did.

The polygon count, shaders, and lighting won't bring any of that sort of evolution of character design unfortunately... but alas if those were the only things I cared about I would have abandoned ship a long time ago. I still really enjoy Tekken and I'll always look forward & play it when it releases.

EDIT: Happy New Year to Everyone as well, just about to hit 12:00 AM in Ottawa :)

I want that too.....badly. But it's still location test and they're clearly using a lot of placeholders from CGI to character models. Even the version launching in February will be the pre-release and not the final arcade version.

So we have to wait a little longer and see what the final product will look like. Because it could very well have the type of new designs that you are craving.....even if they're the second default costumes.

That's what I mean. We'll find out soon enough.

And TBH, that adult Asuka doesn't even look like Asuka.

Here's to hoping! I guess it's good to keep a positive attitude, but I really don't want to feel burned again by keeping lofty expectations.

P.S. Long hair on females just looks sooo good, wish they went with that design.

I definitely agree with that. It's one of my favorite things about a lot of "anime fighters" and the KOF series. Those characters just ooze personality in every single animation that they do. It's a step beyond even Street Fighter in my opinion. As much work as I know that it would be, I would absolutely LOVE if Tekken added little flairs like that to the game. I would even argue that it can make the matches more enjoyable to watch for stream viewers.

On a side note, Happy New Year from the East Coast!

Yep. That is exactly why I wish it was't coming to arcades first. Yeah, I'm probably going to receive heat for that inclination, but it sucks for the guys waiting for the home version who have to watch grainy Youtube videos for their Tekken 7 fix. Maybe we will be surprised though. I heard again, that the rumored release date for the home version is March 2015 or Summer 2015. I definitely have my doubts though because the arcade version is scheduled for early 2015. Pragmatically speaking, I think we are looking at mid to late 2016 for Tekken 7 at home or maybe late 2015, but that is being very, very generous. Yeah, wait could be very painful.............

Well, at least I got Guilty Gear Xrd.

Oh yeah. Happy New Year guys.

I won't watch too much footage from here on out. I didn't even watch that much from the second location test. Not going to spoil the game for myself.

I love Asuka with long hair. Looks way prettier.

Last year's EVO was definitely something, I mean just look at how Gen handled US's best player:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYUTf6egKNk

and then when that dude has to face JDCR, it's incredible how he adapted to not allow even Gen to penetrate. That was a great watch:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeymF7A49sg

And then to top it if off it was the incredible Tekken casino archive. And by far my favorite match from there:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okWN55k4LUk

Everything gets slightly ruined with the putrid alternate outfits though :(

Oh yeah. Happy New Year guys.

I think I'll get some good mileage out of DOA5LR as well. I got GGXrd too. Not feeling it yet because there's A LOT I need to get down. Haven't found a character I can really connect with yet. I've been fiddling with a few characters. I love Slayer's design but I've been having the most success in Challenge mode with Elphelt. Sin, Millia, and Ramlethal looked like a ton of fun to play but the extra meter management with Sin and sword management with Ramlethal look like a lot to handle for a newbie to the series like me.

I definitely agree with that. It's one of my favorite things about a lot of "anime fighters" and the KOF series. Those characters just ooze personality in every single animation that they do. I'd like to repeat the preacher jpg from the other thread :p But yes, this so much. Soul Calibur also gets a free pass with this because the weapons each character uses adds a ton to their character as well. Tekken doesn't have this luxury since everyone (minus Alisa/Yoshi and now Lucky Chloe) use their fists. Tekken has to do more to make their characters look unique.

EDIT: Also to boutdown, this rivalry match is just so fun to watch that happened this EVO.

Damn, Gen destroyed Mr Naps in a very cruel way. He couldn't even get a round off of him. I missed that match last year, first time I see it.

Sorry Boutdown. I never have notifications turned on, so I saw your message a while after you sent it to me. I did try to invite you to a room, but you had signed off as I was setting it up.

So yeah, I streamed a shitload of Tekken Revolution to bring in the new year. It just reminds me how much more I enjoy that netcode (minus the incredibly obnoxious disconnect glitch) than Tag 2's. I feel like I can react much more easily to everything in that game. No, I don't mean throw breaks. I'm talking everything. Ducking highs, SS, whiff punishing. I feel like I'm much more on point when playing that game online and only make mistakes when it is input errors. I hope they adapt this netcode for Tekken 7.

AAK

Member
I'm pretty sure the netcode is exactly the same as in TTT2, you just got better connections I think because more people are playing it and hence the likelihood of finding someone at a closer proximity to you was far greater.

But I'm speaking completely from anecdotal experience. I've fought a bunch of people I have on my friends list on both TR and TTT2 and I felt no difference.

As far as throw breaking, I'm pretty sure the break window in TR is greater than TTT2... but again I have no way of proving it, just speaking again from anecdotal experience.

GrayFoxPL

Nah it's not exactly the same. Lag has different effects and netcode insanely sensitive causing more disconnects then T6 ever did. And the start round disconnect is caused by mtu conflict. I experimented and where 1492 is optimal to most online games it'll causes constant "start round disconnect" glitch in Revo. Setting mtu to automatic will fix it somewhat but if opponent didn't set up mtu to dynamic also it'll fuck up anyway. But even without it shit can still disconnect anytime. Seems as ridiculous as if one information packet not goes perfectly or get fragmented the netcode does nothing about it other then disconnect.

If that netcode was in Tag2 it would be suicide inducing. Though at best possible connections it is even more lagless then Tag2. Though it holds together by a thread.

Good games GrayFoxPL and Doomshine. Sorry my connection ruined the session at the end. It's going to get fixed on the 5th of January (or so I hope). Hopfully the disonnects will stop then.

I think you have a strict nat.

If you have some game that shows online nat we would make sure.

DOA5 and SF3d strike shows NAT for example. Generally open/green is direct unrestricted connection, moderate/yellow is router connection what most people roll and strict/red is connection where firewall doesn't allow to open needed ports.

I didn't even realize our thread was up until today woah.

Anyway, those Evo videos makes me drool! Such awesome matches, and such a stark reminder, that I'll forever be shit at Tekken.

I will beat you all when Tekken 7 comes along, if you all train me that is haha.
