So, can anyone tell me about this?

http://www.roomescapelive.com.au

a friend wants to try this out tomorrow and I'm curious as to what to expect.

A friend was telling me about this recently, says he's done aa few in germany.

Soounds... weird and creepy. basically, anything in the room that you can access / open is fair game to pull apart to find clues / tools you can use to escape. Usully they givve you hints if you're not progressing as it's all filmed so they can monitor.

Doont bring people who panic!

It'll be a team of videogame developers and at least one game designer so we'll probably start QAing it straight away. "yeah, this is a non-prog. This won't pass cert. That's obviously placeholder, etc."

And finished First Light. Was a fun little romp while it lasted. Very little enthusiasm to play Second Son after the sheer ease of skipping around town under Neon Power.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is proving to be just as fun and full of character as the previous two, and the additional game options provided by the extended engine (and characters) are really neat. Played one user-created level which was pretty awesome. Haven't mucked with the creation tool myself yet, might not even.

Haven't plugged Drive Club in again ;)

Took the daughter biking again today, she's going really really well, way less wobble and enough speed that I was getting nervous. Totally stoked :) We also went swimming for the first time since I broke my arm (and spent the last few months in physio) and swam a whole goddamn length of the pool! 50m bitches!! (I used to swim 1km in a morning's swim a few years ago, but this is progress...)

Board gamers (with or without kids): Machi Koro is a fun little game that takes very little time to play. My 11yo quite enjoys it. May have to get some expansions :)

Enough rambling. Got a 5am wake up in the morning (ugh) to head to Auckland for Linux Conf *Australia*. The last one I went to was in Wellington (a good few years ago). Maybe I just like New Zealand...

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

I just ordered Persona Q from EzyDVD because everywhere else seems to be out of stock. Anyone have experience with this site? I can easily picture them showing stuff as in-stock but not having it.

Starting my new job today. I'm in 'Holy Crap!' mode at the moment, as it's a move up in the world.

I'd love to order the Persona Q limited edition, but I can't find it anywhere locally.

Having an oceanic team in next years Smite championship will be amazing. The hype right now watching this tournament is just insane.

Still the best Birdman!

The film was very enjoyable however. Great cinematogaphy, score, and acting all round. Quite funny in places too. I thought Edward Norton was the highlight.

If you are going to the movies, why not join Club Dendy for free so you can go to a nice cinema and have a beer while you watch? You'll get cheaper tickets etc etc. I got tickets to an advaned screening of Birdman last week for $9 with a glass of wine. Not too shabby! http://www.dendy.com.au/Page/Club-Dendy

On the topic of cheap movies, I was astounded how cheap Readings in Waurn Ponds (Geelong) is. Went and saw The Imitation Game on Saturday and the tickets online were $10 with $1.50 b/f. Couldn't believe it.

No idea if it's a Readings Geelong thing or a Readings everywhere thing. But more cinemas should do the "more people at less ticket price" than "more ticket price with less people". Never going to Village (at $18 a pop) again.

Recently got Driveclub - any ausgaf clubs with room?
Do you see yourself putting in a bit of time with it? I'm not big on the multiplayer driving thing in it, but I'd like to see people in my club giving it a fair crack and gaining XP/levels at a steady rate. Which reminds me, I need to have a chat to someone who I think was from AusGAF, they've been on level 22 for yonks :/

But if you see yourself playing it fairly solidly for the next few months (I'm talking at least a few hours a week) then there should be a spot for you in mine :)

SO how much are Club Dendy paying you?

Clearly they can't pay me much, because sign ups are currently free :p

I prefer to go to Palace or Dendy because they have a nicer atmosphere (alcohol) and have screenings of some of the more interesting films that pretty much pass by BC&C entirely. Palace was doing free membership last year, but not anymore. I was going to link to their membership as well but you know... free is the price you want to pay.

Ultimately I don't want to see these places close down.

Also yeah, you really don't want to be paying more than $10 for a ticket. There are a few ways to do that. Optus and Telstra have $10 tickets through Hoyts and BC&C respectively, and free membership to Dendy will get you $10 tickets as well. Where there's a will there's a way.

Readings has always been awesome, used to do tightarse Tuesday tickets for like $8. The actual cinema setup is great too and usually very clean.

Village was always pretty meh the few times I went to it in Geelong. Much prefer to head out to Waurn Ponds, especially since they have Hi Sushi out there close by!

Finished the SP of Halo 4 so I'm done with MCC for now. I may or may not go back for some multiplayer (or Halo 5 beta). Depends on whether I want to go with subbing to XBL or not.
I have a 1-month and also a 48-hour XBL code. Don't think they're for new members and don't think they've expired.

If you or any other AusGAFfer would like 'em, let me know.

In Newcastle (Charlestown) Hoyts are $9.50 and Reading $8.50 - yay! With 2 young kids we're still up for a babysitter to both get out though, and would usually rather go to dinner if we're making the effort. (Blurays are cheap these days if you don't see many films at the movies and buy them 6 months after release)

That's certainly the plan. "alex--kidd" is the PSN name.

Taking my 6 year old to see Japan Asian Cup game at 6pm - can't wait!

Guys,

Seg-uh, Say-guh or Sea-guh?

pls make the right choice

Sorry to dig this one up from a few days ago, but it's either Say-guh if you are intimidating the voice over for fun or Sea-guh when you are using it in a sentence like 'Don't be silly, Sea-guh will never make a good Sonic game again".

Checking out Birdman on Friday. I can get $14 tickets through Telstra, which feels like the right price.

Finally got signed up to that sweet $90 Optus Broadband deal too. Rather than going through the chat I just clicked a few buttons on their site and should hear about my installation date soon!

Thinking about booking my flights to PAX Aus soon. Do hotel rooms fill up pretty quickly as well?

I booked a nice hotel last minute no problem last year Stack and that was the weekend before Melb Cup too. Probably better to have a look around now though and book at least a few months in advanced if you find one you are super keen on.

Have fun! Should be super impressive for the kid!

Everything else may be dearer in Newcastle, but our cheap movies are pretty sweet.

Yeahhhh screw it I'll start over again I guess. I'll have to note down all the extensions and stuff just in case. At least I remember Ninite this time!

EDIT: Fuck it maybe I'll grab a copy of Win8 too rather than stick with Win7

Can someone explain this question to me.. Better yet, answer it for me in 200 words... O.O
Why is it important as a civilian to adhere to moral and ethical principles?

This is related to policing.

Cheers.

Does anyone know a cheaper alternative to a windows surface? I remember there being a thread about a dell one, but can't find it for the life of me.

On a less fun note, I've caught a metro train again for the first time in ages and witnessed an near suicide, a girl just refused to get of the train tracks at Flinders st station. Train was closing in so 2 guys jumped down and forced her up, she got so violent when they tried to restrain her. I honestly felt bad for all the people who witnessed it, quite a few people were really shaken up including some younger girls.

Smaller screen (8" vs 10.1 for SP2, and larger again for SP3), less memory (2gb vs 4gb/8gb), less powerful CPU (atom quad core vs mobile i3/i5/i7 variants), less memory (32/64gb vs 64/128/256/512gb).

But it's a shitload cheaper at 350/400 vs the ~800-2000 you'll pay for the various SPro variants. You'll pay an extra 120 for the wireless keyboard and 50 for fancy stylus if you want those accessories. The KB I would suggest is necessary since you're obviously wanting this to fill the same niche as the SPros.

Thanks this is what I was looking for. Would the performance hit be that noticeable? I don't really plan on using for gaming (apart from some small point and click games maybe),it would just have to act as a replacement laptop. Or is there better value for money

I have no experience whatsoever with the Venue 8 series. You will not run any modern 3D game on it. I mean they will boot, but be completely unplayable. Dota 2 is playable on it according to the internet. Office and productivity apps will be fine. Some websites may cause issues if they're super flash heavy but that's true even on some more powerful stuff.

For that price range you're probably not going to do any better. Reviews seem positive.

Cuz I'm a moron or something.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

Thats a pretty terrible question....

I guess just go on about peace and society, throw in a reference to that melbourne looting when the police went on strike...
