DriveClub PS+ Edition Has Been M.I.A. For 100 Days

I've been in love with this game since Day 1, it's fantastic. That said, I fully respect those of you who are waiting on the demo because of what was promised, and can absolutely understand the disappointment/anger you must feel because of the delay and therefore criticism of Sony/Evo is completely warranted.

However, one thing cannot be stressed enough, and autoduelist already mentioned it:

...I guarantee Sony and Evolution did not intend, want, or plan for this delay to happen. ...

Don't get me wrong, I'm waiting on it too. I want it. Yesterday. But acting as if this is some intentional lie/screw over is just silly...

All the comments that it's being deliberately held back to boost sales are just toxic. This has been a PR nightmare for Sony and Evo, but a few disgruntled gamers jump straight to the conclusion that it's all down to corporate greed, and that's sad. You think Rushy is happy that his CV will forever be stained as the man in charge of the DriveClub fiasco? I guess I just like to dream we're all adults on GAF who actually have a clue how the real world works, but the number of immature, thoughtless posts quickly brings me back to reality.

That your opinion may be the more likely reality (in your ooinion), does not make your opinion reality.

As much as I dislike the idea, I wouldn't be surprised if they were waiting for driveclub to cover it's losses/break even and then they'll just release the whole game (bar DLC) for free.

Meanwhile, please buy the game at this discounted price PS+ subscribers!

Sony should prioritize the free PS+ version before doing such a sale because the free PS+ version was promised a long time ago.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the game. This isn't a discussion about whether you are enjoying the game or not. It's about a company pledging subscription perks and reneging on those promises. In this context, telling people to go ahead and buy that perk at full price is beyond crazy.

It's not beyond crazy to re-organize priorities.

You can:
Run endlessly in circles complaining about the PS+ edition and dont getting anything except time being wasted,

OR

Actually buy the game, enjoy it, and realize, like many many others, that you dont need the demo.

Anyways, I can put it this way too:

You are getting one of the most praised and best games of 2014 at a stealing price. Yet you complain because pride and principles.

You have your pride and your principles, and what are you getting? Nothing.
The others are enjoying the hell out of an amazing game.

I really don't think they would just fuck over the people who actually bought it.

When the PS+ version comes out it's just gonna be India. I don't even know why anyone would want that, but whatever.

I wondered why they didn't make an offline only driveclub ps+ edition so you can try out the game. Its only a few tracks and handful of cars.

I cancelled my PS4 preorder when I heard the game was delayed as it was one of the only games I was interested in. I can see why people are annoyed but they need to fix things for customers who have bought the game first.

People are still defending this, actually turning on people who hold Sony accountable for their promises? What the absolute fuck?

Sony fanboys will tell you: just buy the game dont be cheap it`s a GREAT game best looking racer in this generation etc etc etc lol

Lol, really junior? Games a solid arcade racer and an amazing looker according to people across multiple platforms(including me, love it).....but if you want to rave Sony fanboys....keep trolling I'll grab my popcorn

There is a difference between holding sony/evo accountable for the delay and villainizing them/pushing some kind of anti DriveClub agenda.

Evolution repeated it on Twitter recently, they are still working on improving the net code until they are certain it can handle such a big launch. There is nothing sinister behind it. Sony and Evolution did not intentionally fuck this up, since the situation is not helping them.

It is a great game, and it's also cheap in EU right now, just £20 (that's the same price as that Destiny DLC with no content).

Open the floodgates! Let everyone try the PS+ version when they are not 100% confident the servers could handle it yet, great idea. That'll stop people moaning.

Lol, pulling out the junior card like not being one is a great accomplishment.

The way that the comment is being dogpiled is pretty telling itself. What the comment says isn't necessarily wrong. People are pulling out the 'just buy it' card and calling people cheap, etc. instead of discussing the actual issue. It's like the thread shitting people complain about in other Driveclub threads, just in reverse.

But maybe if enough people quote it the mods will see the egregious error this person made and deal with it, right?

I get what you are saying, however emphasis on the word great seems to me the poster is downplaying the game as some mediocre racer. Its the best arcade (dare I say it) corridor racer since the PGR series. Was it the best racer of last year...no. FH2 wins it by a milestone. But for how cheap the game has been lately with sales in discounts you could picked it up in some places for under $20 (coupons, discount codes.) More recently its been hovering about above $30

I'm calling for the full version to be free at E3 2015 btw.....it makes sense to just hold off and as a yes we fucked up situation here is the whole game for free....on PS+

People need to be patient, sony knows how much they fucked up, if the gamers haven't voiced this I'm sure the sales have.

Although, for those who bought PS+ just to try a game this will also be a lesson to them to not do so until the product is ready to be tried.

That your opinion may be the more likely reality (in your ooinion), does not make your opinion reality.

Well technically you are correct, but which do you think is more likely? A Sony/Evo badly handled screwup or a conniving plan to sucker more money out of customers?

You're saying the latter is possible, and I agree it is, but if we can start taking companies to task for possible underhand stunts they might have pulled without any evidence to back it up then this place would drown in the amount of warmongering new threads that could be created.

I managed to get the game free and it's certainly a looker with great weather effects. Though personally I just can't get to grips with the controls sadly to really enjoy it. It seems a canny game otherwise.

I'd still be waiting to play it through the Plus version though if I hadn't gotten it for free, so it's frustrating that there's no sign of it yet for those that haven't been able to play it.

Oh god, can you imagine. "Oh a game was delayed? They're holding back for more pre-orders GET THE PITCHFORKS READY"

It's great that Driveclub owners like the game and people think it is well worth the price, I'm glad it worked out in the end and it's working properly now.

However, when the consoles were launching and I realized a month before launch I could only justify the cost of one console I dropped the Xbox One preorder despite liking the Xbox launch lineup better due to getting some added value in the PS4 from the +Edition and potentially the discounted full game, and Driveclub looked incredible. Then they delayed it a couple days after I cancelled my xbox preorder and only a month before launch, and then they delayed it again and then they delayed the plus edition and here we are.

I don't feel like I got screwed buying the PS4 day one, obviously it's great, and I now own a Xbox One, it's just after getting really excited for Driveclub multiple times only to be disappointed I have no interest in giving them money when they haven't delivered the part of it that convinced me to buy the console. Although it's less of a stand and more just apathy at this point.

lol, from the poster who brought you this:

just dont expect sony to be this nice

i remember Sony updated the PS+ policy couple of weeks ago: the plus games wont be available after a period of time once the plus subscription is stopped

meaning you wont be able to re-download previous plus games even if you buy the plus again in future if you do not subscribe to plus for a period of time

I don't know why Sony/Evo don't just put out a demo with one P2P track + reverse and weather (like a mini event) full races and a time trial, one car from each group and no online features, so people can get a feel for the handling. That's pretty much all people want, a way to get a feel for the game without having to buy/rent/steal it. If they play the demo, they then get the option to buy the full game at the Plus discount (whether they have Plus, or not).

It's great that Driveclub owners like the game and people think it is well worth the price, I'm glad it worked out in the end and it's working properly now.

Don't spend hundreds of pounds/dollars/other currencies are available, on the promise of a huge corporation, I guess.

People have every right to complain about the abstinence of DriveClub PS+ edition. Sony promised this shit BEFORE the PS4 even launched. Of course everyone goes mad when after 2 years there is still nothing on the horizon. Sure DC had online problems when it launched but after 3-4 months there is still no word when and how the PS+ edition will hit the store. It´s embarrassing for everyone involved.

And yes I have bought DC on Day 1 and I really like it but this has nothing to do with how Sony/Evolution handled this situation. Shit I can even remember a PR statement from Sony where they explicit said "and looking forward to the DC PS+ edition" when they listed the PS+ games for December and January.

"Just buy it" is a hilarious defence.

Specially when coupled with "don't complain, if you didn't buy it yet you are not interested enough anyway".

This.

It's pretty shitty, but even now the online seems a bit shaky at times, so I'm not surprised that it hasn't been released yet.

I got tired of waiting and decided to dive in for £20 (from shopto). The day the game arrived it was reduced for £20 on the PSN (for the PS+ upgrade) and I would have rather had the digital version than disk but, eh.

Definitely an enjoyable game. Like, I'm not huge into (sim) racers and the handling is a nice mix of sim and arcade style. The game looks and sounds great and the tracks, so far, are fun to drive on. Worst part by far is your club only being 6 people max. That is super disappointing. Not played much online, had one match and a bunch of people dropped out, unsure if it was connection issues on their part or not.

I definitely would have upgraded from the PS+ Edition. It does suck so much that the PS+ Edition isn't here yet and there has been no word on it for ages. I highly doubt the PS+ Edition would strain the servers so much, especially as they've had months to prepare them. I have a feeling they just won't release it now =/

If you read my post carefully, you'll notice I suggested nothing of that sort. I think the delay is unfortunate but they can take all the time they need to fix it.

As they continue showing the public more tracks and cars, most people arent going to want a limited-content version (in my opinion). That's probably their business intent...release the plus version when most people will want to upgrade.

It's not coming guys...PSN almost goes down every Thuesday, when the store updates, imagine what will happen when everyone downloads and plays this ''free'' huge demo'' if it ever comes out...yeah,you guessed it and they know it...intention was good but until they boost or add or whatever it is they do to make PSN more stable,it's not going to happen.

Whatever

Just buy the game at this point

Apparently its really good

It is good, but that's not really what this is about. It's not about whether you like the game or hate it.

Its about communication, and fulfilling promises. Its understandable and entirely appropriate that this situation gets a negative response. Saying "buy it, its good" is missing the point.

Sony were playing up the significance of the PS+ version of DC in the lead up to the PS4 launch, so the backlash is justified seeing as 100 days later, the version is MIA. Regardless of the reasons why the game hasn't appeared, it is disappointing.

While I see your point and pragmatic as it may seem, you can understand the frustration some might feel at the apologists and pure shillery on display. As someone who wants to try this out first before committing to it as I don't really like racers, being told 'Just suck it up and buy it mayne' is infuriating. I suspect that is what may be excacerbating the ire against evo and Sony.

I really do feel for those missing out on a bloody great racing game with face melting visuals and sound because of a free demo that was planned and delayed.

I don't understand the thread title. I downloaded this yesterday. It is out on PSN.

No, the promised PS+ edition only missing a few cars and tracks that people have already paid for isn't out. The $50 digital version of the retail release, which is what I think you're referring to, is the only thing up there right now.

OR
You can press the company you've been paying a subscription to to make good on their obligations they themselves signed up to. Is getting what you paid for such an alien concept to you?

No matter which way you try and slice it: paying a company full price for something that they promised you for free as part of a subscription and failed to deliver is a con. Add on top of that the excuse they are giving you is that the full price version (the one you suggest I buy) is not up to snuff. If you think I'm going to sign up for such a blatantly raw deal for the sake of playing some video game you're way off, mate.

I can see that principles don't mean much to you. If you're not a principled man then I'm not going to try and persuade you otherwise. I'm just trying to help you see beyond your own world view so you can understand why people find the suggestion to just buy the full game ridiculous. There are two different propositions here: buying the full game and getting the free version as a subscription perk. Just because people want the later proposition doesn't mean they have any intention or desire to sign up to the former. These people will rightly press for the proposition that they are interested in and were promised.

Obviously there are many people, yourself included, who were interested in the full price game and purchased it. That's great. Enjoy it.

Yeah, but I don't really care anymore.

Im now just going to buy it at the discounted price. Seems too good to turn up anymore.

Love the thought of continued updates and Evolution listening to fans.
