They wanted to polish a small area for ea then move out from there. The game map is supposed to get huge over time. They say eventually they want it to be so big people on the north never even meet people in the south. With a team as big as SOE I'm sure the updates will come fast.

We don't know server names yet. Once it's all said and done I'll probably make the reserved post in the op about designated servers for gaf for na and europe. We'll figure the community stuff out later.

Righto.

Meaning you can't kill other players, correct? I'm so tired of the kill on sight kiddies from DayZ. To me, it's funner to group and fight off zombies and survive.
That's why i am buying it today is because of PVE.

I prefer coop over competitive when it comes to these games.

Thanks for the replies.

What's the difference between PvE and Hardcore?

Pve means no player on player combat but like standard pvp servers you lose all the items on you when you die but you still have all the crafting knowledge you have attained when you respawn. Hardcore means you lose your items, your crafting knowledge and your bases become unlocked upon death.

Yep. No player killing.
How many hours left til release?

two hours unless it get's delayed again.

I am glad they are making a PVE server it's great news - I will never ever play it because i think the aspect of surprise and unique encounters as the game evolves would dwindled

but it means they will be focusing on making a excellent survival game with zombies for those people, it'll add much more depth into the game so it'll be amazing for PVP/hardcore servers.

So you get a special hat if you buy the $39 deluxe edition, what happens if you get killed by another player? Can they take your loot including your hat?

It's too bad they are allowing PvE servers. All this does is deprive people of a real game experience that the developers intended for people to have. In the end they included it mostly because it means more copies sold and a more popular game, but doesn't mean it all that it was the right decision.

Play the game as it was meant to be played and don't be wimps. If you can't handle PvP, then this really isn't the right genre for you. PvE just means we'll have less weaklings on PvP servers, and we need some weaklings ;)

They should have had special servers with safe areas instead of full blown PvE servers, that would have made more sense and been a compromise.

You don't get a hat. You get a crafting recipe that let's you turn any hat you find in game into this specific hat. When someone kills you they get a damaged version that will eventually degrade. When you respawn you will still have the crafting recipe to convert another hat but the items must be found in the world first.

Let people play the game how they want. Safe areas would have been much worse.

I am actually kind of nervous PVE is how the State of Decay MMO will end up being and that will really have more of an impact separating players then it will for H1Z1 type of game.

Also, doesn't the one they take not look as good or something?

Yeah once they kill you it degrades

You don't get the hat, you get the receipe to make the hat. So you'll never lose it as it's an "account" bound item.

Curious to hear about the PVE. That's the only part of this that really appeals to me.

If you and a bunch of mates want to build something epic and avoid zombies without having to worry about asshats, PVE is for you. Also SOE have stated that they will be including player picked rulesets at some point.

How's that? PvE is a huge part of the reason most people play MMO's. And this doesn't deprive anyone from the experience they want, it gives them the exact experience they want. The only people it deprives of anything are bad PvP'ers who just want to torment people who don't care about PvP. The fact that you are calling people wimps and weaklings over a video game makes me think you are one of those people.

If you aren't sure you can always get the 20 dollar version and upgrade to the premium later according to reddit. You can't upgrade it today but they said you will be able to soon.

Yeah I think they did it right with this. The 20 quid package isperfect for those who want some H1Z1 but aren't sure what the other modes are or even if they'll play them, so they play and pick up a couple of tickets to try out the other modes. then they can decide if it's worth the extra. I can't wait for that first air drop (server crash) and seeing everyone run for it (get stuck in an endless login loop) whatever jankiness EA (and especially tonight) brings I'm well up for some discovery :)

Wait, what? We have to pay to play different modes? Can i not join a PVE and a PVP server from the $20 package?

Event tickets are only for Battle Royale for now. There will certainly be other event types in the future. Run of the mill PVE/PVP servers are free.

You don't have to pay.

You can join any mode except the event servers where you need tickets.
You can buy tickets or get them while just playing the game.

I'm not a huge fan of the ticket system for Event Servers. I hope that's just an early access thing (pipe dream). Regardless, I'll probably pick up the standard version just to try it out. 'Running Simulator (No-Loot Edition)' is getting boring.

It's not. That's how they'll do them. It's kinda like Arena from Hearthstone

Looking at some of these other posts, I can actually see the fun in having to fight for the tickets. Stalking a crate drop and having to lay down some PvP so that you can 'earn' the right to play BR or something. I'd even be cool with them being rare, random drops in the open world.

High hopes! I wish the devs the best. It's a pretty ambitious project.

They already said there will be more than Battle Royale/Hunger Games event servers in the future, but that's what they're starting with. They want to target really popular modes from other games for event servers, etc.

You can earn Tickets (as Klyka said) by just playing or you can buy them. If you are in the top 1/3 of the event server you win prizes.

I thought the whole purpose of the game was that the developers wanted a game where players co-operated with each other rather than make a DayZ clone? At least, that's how I understood it. This post makes it seem like PVE is an afterthought and that it's meant to be all about PVP.

Truthfully, I haven't read too much into this game and was sold on the PVE mode once I heard about it. So maybe I'm wrong about what the developers intended and just imagined reading that.

If you need weaklings to succeed maybe you should play a game that's easier for you? ;)

How about choice is better?

There are already games that are PvP only (with this exact theme and similar feature sets), and if that's your cup of tea, you can go to a PvP only server.

As it is, PvE available is probably the reason why I'll give H1Z1 a try.
