STEAM | January 2015 - Steam GOTY results: Delayed

To be honest while I like the first KF (and I've been playing it a lot these days) I've never been a fan of the artstyle. And I feel even the sequel isn't anything special in this regard.

But I know the game will be a lot of fun. Can't wait to try the new melee system.

It's sad, I rarely play RPGs or grand strategy any more because I'm too afraid of the time commitment and don't feel like I can really dedicate time to them, but somehow I manage to sink 14 hours into Cat Goes Fishing in a week and get 100% of the achievements.

So this is what Marlamin said about yesterday's pic

Krejlooc said it might be an early revision, but it wouldn't make sense to include that in a recent update, especially knowing the above (37 images of that named binding_gamepad).

So, people will be able to rebind any regular controllers through Steam?
I'm hoping the api allows games to change ui on the fly, so you just have to support the steam controller api, and then the api recognizes what controller you're using and changes the button prompts to the correct controller. Then everyone can have their ps3/4 buttons. Would also be cool for local multiplayer games if each controller has their own layout vs using one set.

So got the afternoon off and thought I'd be constructive. Then I gave up on that and started up Resident Evil 6, damn is this harder than I remember (that or I'm rubbish).

Speaking of Resident Evil, when this mod is finished for REmake, everyone needs to play it.

Also what's going on with Lightning Returns? Still a Spring guestimate from what I can see.

Oh and Happy B'Day maty!

Hey guys I have some great news. I turn 30 today and while that is not that good, I bought my 1st house. It's a studio apartment so nothing too big. After many years of saving and some help from my parents
and a loan
I finally have my own place.

To celebrate I'd like to give a few games away. Though I wanted to give something a little more expensive this is all I can do for now. Plus region locking does not help.

Have at it

Congratulations!

Wish I was home I would play with you.
Just remember to use melee a lot and to set skills for ammo drops if you need them.

Sega cuts 300 jobs, goes Mobile and PC only

Really sad to hear about those layoffs.

Sucks to hear about the people losing their jobs.

Shame that the western publishing division was apparently affected the most after the arcade stuff. Probably means we won't see as many ports. Hopefully this doesn't affect any branch of Atlus in any way at all, especially the part about focusing on "PC online" games. I really don't want another SMT: Imagine situation where the western version is killed off first.

Quick Impressions: It's a PvZ clone. Cut scenes are kind of epic though.

Quick Impressions: I got a Sewer Shark vibe from the game initially, but it's really nothing like Sewer Shark. It's an interesting racing game where you have to use your inertia and the curvature of the tube you're driving to increase your speed. The sound effects and music of the game are very bad. And what's worse is there aren't any options to change audio options in the game. Normally, I'm pretty easy going as it comes to sound effects and music, but this is atrocious. I actually had to stop playing because of how obnoxious the sound is.

Quick Impressions: The game is only $1 USD. Combat is simplistic, quests are a bit archaic (not Simon's Quest archaic, but still obtuse). I still like the style and the jazzy music is nice. If you go to the end of my video, I got stuck at this floor spikes part and I honestly didn't care to progress further. I am certainly curious how one passes that part. Mysterious!

Joey Joe Joe... Junior... Shabadoo.

You had some oddly named games in Australia, but I can't blame the poor devs, having to survive all those horrors, just making a game about driving a car and killing them would take enough toll on them to make naming it all the more difficult once it is ready.

The Wolfenstein deal on GMG (-50% + 20%) is a nice deal for a really good game.

I just redeemed Life Is Strange season but I think I might be a bit too drunk to play it. How long is the first episode?

Also there is £0.60 (~$0.90 usd) in playfire rewards this week if you plan on playing W:TNO right away, but from my experience it usually dampens the fun trying to rush through to get the required achievements.

Damn, Darkest Dungeon is really hard. Got my party almost wiped at the first random encounter after the tutorial. Total wipe at the second.

So I put about 5 hours into Cinders, got a few endings. It was nice enough, but I wasn't really engaged by the whole concept. Is it safe to just give up on VNs as a genre?

And by VNs I mean this choose-your-own adventure style, not things like Danganronpa where there is actual gameplay.

Nah I wouldn't say give up on them entirely.
Unless reading is what you absolutely hated about it. VNs kind of need to be seen as books. Just because you didn't like 1 VN doesn't mean you'll dislike another.

I got pretty jelly when I saw you playing. That's one of my more anticipated games this year, glad to hear it's challenging.

Worth a $1 or not really?

I thought I had voted for this on Greenlight, but apparently there's a sequel that hasn't been Greenlit yet, and that's the one I voted for (I also voted for Jump/Boxer a long time ago). Very strange. The company, Blaze Epic, seems to specialize in these 8-bit wannabes. I'm not sure if they're cool or lazy.

Well, I think it's more like I didn't find the format added much to the story, so I would rather just read a book. You only get a few lines per screen and have to keep pressing a button to move forward, and all you're getting is just a couple of static bodies sitting on a background. The idea of different paths is interesting, but after a while I just wanted to go look up a wiki.

I liked Hate Plus, which I also played recently, and that was pretty much just all text to read. I think the story was better, which helped.

Managed to beat Death Faleon in Oath in Felghana by grinding two more levels, lol.

Now I just have to grind enough to not get oneshot'd by the enemies in the West Wing. Fucking Inferno mode.

VNs are just a odd genre. I'm not the biggest on them so I can't explain in detail all the ideas behind them. However for me, the ones I enjoy I found that the addition of music and the sprites used well added a lot for me. Since it sets up the scene easily. But at the end of the day it really just comes down to the story. A lot of VNs I do 1 route and call it a day. Most VNs are set from a first person perspective even if the main character is established that's something else I like about the genre. Since it makes the stories feel more personally depending on what it is.

Haven't actually played Cinders though, but both VNs you listed aren't japanese developed so maybe try something from that? Planetarian Reverie of a little planet is a great read. However it's a kinetic novel which is a VN with no choices. The text on screen fills up more though.
