Mod the Dualshock 4 with Xbox One analog sticks

I'm just wondering if there's different color faceplates for DS4 to buy? I'm not talking about a stickers. I think DS4 in PSX grey color with Xbox one analog sticks would look awesome!

I think there are various colour faceplates for both the DS4 and Xbox One controller on ebay now, they are asian copies though, as such they may differ in how well they sit together etc.

I remember making a purple Xbox 360 controller for my wife with parts from Hong Kong, one of the analog sticks ended up being very stiff because the chassis was probably slightly different size from the original. They're usually so cheap that you can experiment a bit from various sellers though!

Twice now I've tried modding my DS4 controller with Xbox One thumbsticks. And twice I've received junk from Ebay sellers. First time it happened I received some kind of phone mechanism, and I kid you not, the second time which I received today, is a smaller, cheaper replica of the Xbox One thumbsticks. ...whaaat?

At this point I'm just laughing.

Maybe it's time to try Amazon?

Why is there such a difference in price between those two? (minus taking in consideration that one of them seems to only have two of them)

First one looks cheaper or is it me?

im not sure but the prices have risen since I got my order. I think I got 10x for about $12.

I read some reviews and it seems they are cheaper made, not OEM. (Original equipment manufacturer) But yeah, 10,59$ for the OEM ones which only have 4, seems a bit too much. (16,77$ with taxes and not considering this also: Please note that your country may charge import duties, taxes and fees)

I have 10 on order from a place that sent me good sticks last year. I'll let y'all know if they turn out alright.

Let me know how that goes... I can't stand the ds4 thumbsticks so I'm hoping this is a solution

I'll post here when I'm done. I won't be getting them for a week or two. Thankfully I've also got a second dual shock 4 so if something goes horribly I'll have a backup. My big pet peeve with the ds4 sticks is my thumbs sliding around on them constantly. Xbox One sticks, while smaller, have that little texture to them that works so well. I hope it works out, ds4 with XB1 sticks could be pretty much perfect. It seems like most people have had good success with replacing them.

I have blue ones on mine, after 400 hours they're still going strong. Got mine off Amazon.

Lasted way longer than the original sticks.

This is what bothers me as well. I'm constantly having to reposition my thumbs on the ds4 because they slide off.

I look forward to your feedback. I don't have a second controller so I'm nervous about ripping one apart.

A friend's modded Xbox One sticks just fell apart. Sigh.

Did he sit on the controller?

I've put tens of hours on my modded DS4 for months and it still good as new.

Sony should have gone with a similar surface on the DS4 sticks. I get the whole comfort thing, but durability is more important IMO.

(I think they are both equally important)

I find this is quite common. I was gonna make a thread about it too. I was hoping I could replace my ds4 with xbone buttons as well.

Anyone put PS2/PS3 sticks on their PS4 controller? I actually prefer those sticks and my fingers never slip.

So uh... I abandoned the Xbone sticks because it messed up my left analog stick somehow. All the pushing forward and clicking in Destiny killed it, so now when I push forward it sometimes doesn't register. So yeah, be wary.
Back to the stock sticks I guess. The new controllers seem like they have better quality sticks than the original batch, at least.

Doesn't surprise me. The sticks are taller and put more pressure on L3 as well as the rest of the analog mechanism.

I've been having some problems with grinding as well, and I've finally discovered why. The sticks I have doesn't fit as tight on the DS4 as the original sticks, so it's possible make them change position a little bit by pulling them like you're trying to pull them out of the controller. Moving them around in this position causes grinding. Pushing them firmly back down again takes care of the grinding.

Now, the problem I'm having happens when I'm pushing the stick hard in one direction. Let's say I'm running like hell in a game, and the left stick is pushed as far as it will go in the up direction. Sometimes I then position my thumb a bit differently to make it comfortable, and this makes me apply pressure almost a bit on the underside of the stick. This can then make them pop out a bit, and voila, the grinding is there.

I'm considering going nuts with some super glue to make them stick.

Anyone else notice this? One of mine I did does this now. Is it from shield hitting something or shim solution?

I just bought a white Dual Shock 4 controller. But how can I check if it's one of the newer models?

It should have the extra labels on the box (PSNow, PSTV). Mine was purchased just before those labels started appearing, but it still has the updated material on the sticks. For the last few months there has been no wear, and no sticking buttons. Other than the poor battery life, it's been smooth sailing.

lol, first try and I fuckin popped off the right trigger. And lost the spring. Fuckin damnit. I knew I shouldn't have attempted this. I always fuck this up.

I was wondering can you do something similar with the PS3 pad? I'd like to put some DS4 sticks in it if possible.

Just an update, I was able to get this mod working, and fixed everything. I found the spring for my trigger (no idea how it got lost, but damn those things are tiny).

I'm not that good when it comes to this sort of thing. And even I was able to do this fairly easily after a second attempt. I think, it's just kind of overwhelming at first if you aren't used to doing anything like this.

In the end, I'm so happy with the mod. I've always loved the X1's joysticks, and it's on eof the reasons I enjoy using the X1 controller more. Now having the ergonomics of the DS4 + the X1 joysticks. It's to die for!

Thinking about doing this. Might just order the gel top things though and try those out first. My left analogue stick has seen better days.

Just did it a couple of days ago. Pretty painless process in retrospect.

I really want to do this, but I can't find OEM sticks that ship to Germany.
Does anybody know a seller, preferrably from Amazon.de?

Also, which kind of screwdriver do I need?

Just did this the other night on one of my DS4s and I LOVE it...I also got a set of the blue sticks and I plan on swapping then into my blue DS4 either tonight or tomorrow...

For the record, I had no issues with the sticks wearing down or peeling...but I always feel like my fingers were slipping off...

These solved that completely

Same here. Also why I swapped out my Wii U sticks and will continue to swap out any other sticks that fit. Xbone sticks are GOAT for finger grip.

The X1 sticks will fit on the DS4 thumbstick stems but it's not a perfect fit. Eventually it will wiggle lose or make this annoying squeaking sound

I ordered two of these shell kits last week. Only difference is the kits I ordered have a clear dpad, buttons and sticks as well.

I really love clear electronics.

that was a custom ebay order. I wanted it with all the stock buttons, only with xbone thumbsticks.
