Wait, is that his real Twitter account or one of those "fake Food Network, eat Oreos of the floor you piece of shit" mock accounts? If real, then why is the CEO talking shit about a huge product for his company? That would be awesome!, but I'm so confused.

#1. Awful sentence.
#2.

He has this picture in his own review <_<

Dat peer pressure?

What a bizarre thing to say when there's footage right there contradicting yourself...

Also, isn't the gloomy dark atmosphere part if the game'a setup? First, it's Victorian London, second, it's not a cheery story from what I've gathered.

why should we ever lower our expectation of these so-called journalists? they're in a position that is supposed to benefit the consumer first and for a long while now it's increasingly become a PR arm of big publishers.

Different argument. We need to drop it on this "mcc scored high and has bugs, this game doesn't Wtf no standards" argument. Like I said, the the absence of bugs does not a good game make. I'm all for integrity and standards, but the reviews for the order are not a product of some deficiency in either of those. We've seen a few games lately that are hyped up and are actually quite lackluster. I'm glad for the low reviews. And on destiny. The industry is large and competitive and we need to be getting the best out of developers. This is one reason,I think, that indies are so popular right now too. That creativity and passion really comes out.

Nope, Sony is going to let me cancel this preorder.

I will buy physical, but $60 dollars is too much for this. As least then I can trade it in.

This brings up an interesting point: if the game dropped the TPS all-together and focused on a more branching story a la TellTale would it have gotten a better reception?

That would've been a better route to take if you ask me. Perhaps they could've kept the third-person shooting, but at least implemented exploration, problem-solving, branching storylines (as a result of player choices)--basically anything but the ridiculously short, railroaded, movie-like "game" we've apparently ended up with.

isn't that called "second party"?

No one calls it that. It doesn't have to be a platform holder-owned studio that developed the game to be called a first party title.

If that were the case, a good portion of the stuff that Nintendo puts out wouldn't be considered first party.

Man I wonder what it's like at the Ready at Dawn office. Seeing this much negative impressions, discussion and reviews before the game releases.

It should have released on a Tuesday.

It's not the real Kaz, but it's fun to pretend it is

Gaming Trend gave it a 95, thinks that the Order should be Sony's new flagship IP, and concluded:
Literally no game has ever looked this good. It’s strange to even write that, but The Order: 1886 raises the bar so far above its contemporaries that it stands in a class by itself. Joined by a soundtrack that perfects the mood, The Order is a cinematic masterpiece. If you want to show off your PlayStation 4 to your friends, this is the title to showcase.

They not only raised the bar (and made it black) they also added second one on the bottom!

Obviously a novelty account. Generally pretty good stuff comes out of it too. If you have Twitter you'll probably want to follow it for the laughs.

Hahaha that's good. That's real good.

And let me ask you what conflict of interests is there? I have no reason to doubt it.

Well, let's say X Gaming Site is reviewing Game Y. Now, the publisher (et al) of Game Y provides sponsorship through marketing and advertisements to X Gaming Site. Do you thing that if X Gaming Site gives a negative review to Game Y the ongoing sponsorship might be impacted? Logically and realistically, I'd say yes. This just doesn't apply to video games, it exists in many other industries.

And then we can talk about how forums and blogs influence public opinion, where trolls and astro-turfing is a known issue.

Any other reviews outright say that?

Jeff at Giant Bomb speculates on this as well.

Are the borders there for artistic reasons? Or are they there to prevent the developers from having to keep an often-terrific-looking game from running at full resolution? In the end, it doesn't matter. The letterboxing got in my way, made the action a little harder to follow (especially when enemies get up close), and lessened the overall experience.

So you would deprive me of a game I want to experience? Why can't you just not buy the game instead? You know, there will always exist games for everyone. That has always been the norm of this industry. Why are people wishing that some games aren't made just cuz they don't like them?

It boggles my mind. Everyone wants diversity, but only when that diversity caters to certain norms? Thats not diversity at all.

If you don't like a game, just don't buy it. You can hate the game all you want, and please, do criticise them alot. But, please, never wish they aren't made. Thats bad for the industry.

As far as I know, the game wasn't exactly cheap to make. "Diversity" would be quite obviously much better served by making five smaller games with lower costs instead of a single expensive one.

And in general, big budget, AAA, extreme focus tested games whose marketing budget is as much (or even twice as much) as their development budget are probably the worst thing for diversity.

Absolutely not. At least that's not what I am reading.

Critics don't like big AAA linear story-focused games (Ryse, The Order, ...), and they usually like multi-centric arena games (TitanFall, Evolve, ...) and love collect-a-thon open world fedex games (SoM,AC,DA,...).

This really is a trend that I have seen more and more clearly, in the press and among players alike. Like a trend there are exception of course, but it's still a definite trend. I fear this may actually sign the slow decay of those kind of games, especially if reviews end up reflecting on sales.

How The Order will chart will be quite interesting to see, and may have huge consequences on the kind of AAA games will get in the future.

Last of Us got GOTY from how many places again?

Games really need to come out at different prices. I think it's fine if the developers wanted to make a combination of a movie and a game but they should charge a price that's in between the two.

At least 50 million were spent making this game. These money could be spent making one or two real games instead of this "cinematic experience". For every single game made, there are games that got denied the chance. And you do know that big budget games like The Order are detrimental to the diversity of the video game industry in the first place, right? So there is a good chance that not having The Order made would actually inject more diversity into the industry.

Aaand im off to experience it myself. Its cool they gave me a comb with the game so i can scratch my head with it, if it turns out to be utter shit.

To be honest, the gaming sites i frequently visit outside of gaf where positive about the game. The last 3 games i bought have been trashed in the media (and gaf) beyond belief, and i have enjoyed those very much.. (one with an alien, some game about cars in a corridor and a grindfest on 5 planets.)

This industry is going to hell with its these journalist and armies of fanboys hating on games in general.

GAF loves Alien Isolation.
