Guys, what exactly is suspended and resume?
Is that where you stop playing the game, and do something else like watching Youtube, and then go back to the game?

turning your console off (well into rest mode) and then when you turn it back on you can instantly resume your game.
Flipping out of a game to use an app like youtube already works on PS4.

The latter. You put your ps4 on rest, then comeback whatever hours later, and you'll still be at the exact same spot you were in your game before putting your ps4 on rest.

Is Sony updating the PS4 similar to how MS did the 360 last gen? One spring and one fall update? Or is it when it comes it comes?

A nightmare?
I had 50 games on my ps4 at one point and it took 3 seconds to go from one side to another.
Seriously, some people need to calm down on the bullshit they spout.
Of course not, Ps4 already has a nice low level API called GNM.
It should already expose all those dirty bits of Ps4 GPU to developers..

I mean, that's fine if you only ever want to play the games at the extreme left and right of the list, but I assume the complaint was about trying to find one specific game in the middle of a long, unsortable, ungroupable list, which is definitely something Sony should change.
I think their problem is that they reinvent the wheel from scratch after every console. It creates pressure to have to reimplement basic features and slows down their ability to expand beyond that. Especially when the public perception is that since the PS3 had blank, the PS4 should already have blank and if it doesn't then Sony "removed it".
Cerney did say that this is something he considered in designing PS4.

Can someone clarify by what they mean with Suspend Resume? When I leave a game to open YouTube or Amazon, etc the game suspends and when I'm done with those I can enter the game instantly where I left off.
I think ya'll mean from game to game or any scenario.

Imagine playing GTA, and you had to go out in middle of your gaming session. You can just turn off your system, once you come back. The game is where you left off. No need to wait long ass loading screen, or worry about saving your progress etc.
Sony promised that you would be able to put the PS4 in the low power mode and be able to resume from that.

I'd like for them to fix the current issues first. Everytime they update like this new issues come up.
I've been having an issue with my PS4 where sometimes (not everytime) it won't continue to download files while in rest mode. I'm trying to download Battlefield 4 plus the DLC and the last two nights while it was in rest mode it didn't download anything, even though staying connected to the internet and downloading is definitely enabled in the options. Anyone have any solutions? It downloads fine while the PS4 is on.

Whats so funny and what gap other than whats already known ?
DX12 to may people looks like doing what mantle did but more, more a PC thing it appears to most....(Except Mr X and Mr CTeam)
All I know is what I read : MS PR with Eurogamer said they let loose a 7 th Xb1 CPU core and Sony have not said anything (read Ps4 used 6 cores for Killzone game over a year ago, so who knows)
However, MS PR about making more power for games, DX12 coming along is positive spin, and we get nothing from Sony.
I agree with this 100% same as you I bought ps4 to play games. I want all remaining reserves to go toward gaming.

Now that we've got a Plex app there's really no reason not to have native mkv support. It would cut down on what the server has to transcode, especially when subtitles are involved. More audio codecs than just aac for Plex would be great too.
Fix friends list? It's been fixed quite a while for me.

No way in hell they do this. Both consoles will have more memory available over time due to compression of the OS footprints, but I don't see them ever getting rid of the reserve. Need that space for instant switching to the Netflixs of the world.

DNLA, nonothing else come close in the priority list.
DLNA is my personal most wanted feature. I have a 2TB HDD full of films that I want to watch on my TV, not my laptop screen. C'mon, Sony, do the right thing. Custom backgrounds would be nice, sure, but give us something practical like DLNA. That, or suspend/resume.

There was some Jeff Rigby stuff about the latest version needing to be ratified, he had pegged a big media update for PS4 w/r/t DLNA at early 2015. Same thing that MS just rolled out but they were faster, as usual.
